While I can’t pretend I’m not enjoying all this, he’ll come good at that level.

Drogba took ages to settle at Chelsea if memory serves. Likewise it took 2 years for Paul Coutts to find a role in our side and we all know how long it took Billy Sharp before he became a club legend.
I think a good example of taking time to come good would be Mo Salah. Average at Chelski, you know the rest 😉

Do we have a buyback clause?
Have you seen the video of the prince talking about Ndiaye's sale?
It reminded me of Fawlty Towers when Manuel's pet rat was being thrown out. "No take, I love him, I love him."
I shouldn't laugh but I did, it was the only way to soften the blow of losing our best player.

If OM are patient, he will succeed there. He is just too good not to. Patience doesn't seem to be the strongest virtue in their fanbase however.

Either way, I would be surprised if he were to come back here. As much as he would be welcomed back by many, the manner of his exit was a right kick in the bollocks, and I suspect he wouldn't have the same level of unreserved love from others, myself included. I think his entourage would also view it as losing face and dare I say it, a step backward after making the plunge and leaving.

If it doesn't work out there, he'll probably end up being loaned or used as a sweetener to another team in Europe, and it could end up being one of the biggest wastes of talent in footballing history.

He will succeed. Somewhere. He’s too good.

I said this at time, he will be the next Taarabt. Unbelievable at a smaller club level QPR and Sheff Utd. Makes a move to a bigger continental team and could struggle. Adel was unreal.

Grass isn’t always greener

You mention Taarabt...he's only 34 and still playing. I thought he'd retired years ago.

I still cannot understand why people wouldn't welcome him back.

Sounds to me like there was a lot of shithousing but mainly between the agents and clubs and it seems he was willing to stay here. If at the 11th hour a club you've always wanted to play for manages to twist the arm, then you're off. Had done what Berge has done which for now seems like a relatively lateral move I'd reserve a bit more resentment for him but we all knew he was off, if not this window then more than likely the next.

Genuinely hold no malice towards the lad and it's a little disappointing to see he's taking time to settle. Just good luck to the guy really.

Yep, I love Iliman and would happily kill everyone on this forum to get him back to United.

In a champions League position ahead of PSG and yet it's not good enough. I don't think he'll be coming back to us hoping to keep out of the relegation zone tbh

I can appreciate your view and I don't hold any malice toward him either, but nor will I have much sympathy if it all goes tits up (I suspect he will be fine anyway if they give him time). I will always look back on his playing with love, but have developed a respectful coolness to him from now on.

We expected him to leave all summer, but I maintain that the ultra last minute change of heart was the worst possible thing he could have done to us.

By that point the club had been assured he was staying, and had stood down on sourcing a replacement. None of that was his problem of course, but he acted in his own interests, therefore I reserve the right to assess his actions from ours.

Regardless of everything I would 100% have Illiman back, he fitted in perfectly with us and our style of play.....however, there was no guarantee he would have been a success in the EPL, it may have been a step too far for the lad as it appears the French farmers league may be, (on evidence to date anyway).

I'm not anti-Illiman for the way he left and apparently pissed us about but I must admit there is a part of me that wants him to bomb in France....sorry!

Just my two pennorth, but I think if Iliman had stayed with us for this season, no matter what happened (stay up or relegation), I think his talent would have shone through and the world would have been his oyster. Like it or not, the Premier League is the world's Premier League, not just ours, watched by more people than any other league in the world. He would have been courted by loads of top clubs.

Like I say, just my opinion.

The other factor is, he's gone from being the main man, with a free role, to play how he wants, and with a lot the play going through him...

To, being a part of a lineup, to know his role and to hold his position, and to basically bow down to Aubameyang and kiss his arse, because he used to be half decent 5+ years ago.

If OM had the balls (they don't) to make Illy the main man and to use him how we did (they won't) then they will see success. As it happens, he's now just a small fish in a big, entitled, impatient pond.

I don't get how everyone is convinced he is a top European player yes he shone in the championship and I loved him but it is a mile away from prem quality.
I would have loved to have seen him in the prem even if it wasn't for the blades just to see how good he was.
He ran rings around Spurs in the cup
