Completely different pressure playing for us to them. He certainly wouldn't be crying coming off the pitch playing for us, even if he was doing poorly.

Pressure he is under after the big transfer and fanfare is absolutely immense and it seems like Marseille are not playing him in a way he can shine.

Agent and dad have forced a very poor decision on him for his career development

It's been a mediocre move for Illy so far. I wonder if he thinks about PL exposure instead.

Him, Archer and Hamer would be sublime. No guaranteed success, but plenty of willing and bravery to have a go.

Illy is realising he could have been a god at Bramall Lane. Probably looking at our signings and thinking of the impact he could have made in the world's best league. Whatever way you look at it the French league is a backwater. Even PSGs big stars are jumping ship. His next move was critical. He seemed genuinely torn on what to do. And he received bad advice from the pro-Marseilles contingent. This could ruin him.

I said when he left it was his choice and I said it was mistake on his part . He had grown immensely in 18 months under Hecky .but from being a loved freebie he's piled immense pressure on himself by becoming a 20m player expected to deliver. And so far he's not getting near finishing a game. He could have had a much less stressful time with us and developed immensely in z settled team He knew his place in

The tears have started early and look set to continue

Get him back in loan! He's not ready for Marseille yet!

If he's looking that bad I imagine Hecky will have been on the blower

So, here's what really happened*. Hecky, Bettis, PA, and Ili were having a chat over a beer in May after promotion. Hecky says he'd love to bring Archer and Hamer in to complement Ili so we can get in to champions league in a couple of seasons max. PA and Bettis like the idea, but say we can't do it as we're skint. Ili chips in to mention that he's always hated those fuckwits at Marseille for passing him off when he was younger and would love to get one over on them. Together they cook up an elaborate scheme to fleece Marseille of £20m, with Ili deliberately playing shit so we can buy him back at half the price in the same transfer window (or January at the latest by which time they'll be looking to offload him for £2m). It all works out perfectly and the Blades live happily ever after.

* Or maybe I dreamt it...

Sometimes when you listen to bad advice and effectively live other people's dreams, they can become your personal nightmare.

The fact that he took so long to make the decision is pivotal and I daresay his agent, father and OM all pressured him.

Do I care about OM? Never have and never will
Do I want Illi to fail? No
Am I happy that he did not go to a fellow PL club? Yes
Should we take him back if things don't work out? Yes, as long as financially viable.
Has he made a mistake? Time will answer that question, but all footballers that move on a big price tag have expectations and thus pressure. He would have been better staying with us in the premier league to see how good and influential he could become, at a club where he is loved and appreciated. It will hurt more if those OM fans turn on him, and I can see that happening in double quick time. For now, a wrong decision.

The saddest part of the whole saga is that he missed out on obtaining the greatest accolade in world football, his face on an official S24SU T-Shirt.
So close to the S24SU background wall of fame.

Never mind, we’ll always have Fatty Foulke

Ideal world, United comfortably stay up this season, Ndiaye has a bit of a nightmare at OM (purely selfish on my part as I also want the lad to do really well as I like the lad even if he has made the wrong career choice) and then he signs again for United next summer in a cut price deal (£5m) so we have screwed OM out of of £10m and he has learnt that the grass.jsnt always greener than playing your trade at BDTBL. I'd love to see him come back in 12 months to pick up where he left off.

At the risk of sounding like a bitter twat, Illy made his bed, and did a steaming shit in ours on the way out, on the 11th hour as well, after promising that we would be waking up in freshly laid silk. So whist I won't be wishing him any misfortune, nor do I care if it all crashes and burns over there for him now, sorry I just don't. And frankly, it would actually serve that twat of a President and the self serving cunts around Illy if it did. In the end though, I think he will be fine.

The saddest thing about all this sorry business is that he could have played against the best team in the world today, in the best league, and even if we had been pumped 5-0, with him scoring 2 own goals, he knows he would have left the field with the crowd singing his name. Instead he gets subbed, spends the rest of the match in tears and is now getting ripped to shreds by those who claim to be his own on social media.

Life's a funny one eh?

The Marseille coach appears to be more supportive than the fans:

"As for Iliman, he is a young player. I have the feeling that he wants everything to happen very, very quickly, at least that's what everyone is asking for. But, here in life there is also a process to follow but we will help it. We think he's a good player and when he's in trouble, we're there, players and staff, to help him. He needs to score like all strikers and he will do it very quickly. For now, he must enjoy and take more pleasure at OM, in this superb stadium with this superb public. Because the goals will come for him"

What I will say, is that at this very early stage in his time there, that star onus has gone, for now, at least.

Here, he was the star boy. Get the ball to him, at all costs, let him play how he wants, let him do what he wants, get the ball to him and let him dictate play. Let him create the goals, let him score the goals. He was the peak of the club/squad, he was the star. The focal point of social media, the lot.

Now he's a youngster, a small cog in a bigger machine.

In football it can sometimes be better to be a big fish in a small pond than a small fish in a big pond. Still early days for him but they are dictating to him where and how he plays rather than having the freedom at the top of the pitch that we gave him.

I'd be going in for a cheeky loan bid in January if he is still struggling.

Is only on the bench tonight.

Exactly this. Be part of the system, know your role, stick to it, supply Auba. Know your place.

Contrast that to his role here. Huge difference.

You'll have to give him time obviously. New league and highest level he's played on so far. But playing for an ambitious club can be unforgiving. Most of the time they're not patient, especially their fans.
