We'll probably go with another midfielder. Recent games underline how important another player who can link the play was for us. A few names were mentioned in the transfer window. Jebbo's problem is also exacerbating this.

We are awful at giving away these headed goals. Without McBurnie to win his defensive headers in our box we will struggle against Newcastle.

There's a simple solution to not winning much in the air, and it's called not playing hoofball

Archer and McAtee upfront would seem the obvious choice. Of course we lose the aerial threat and hold up play and I do think we need that. But speed and better finishing hopefully compensate a little...

There was a poor display from a United striker today, but I don't think we're allowed to mention who it was. The clue is that he wasn't sent off. The kid looks a bit heavy and his second touch was a tackle. He did improve a bit second half before his legs went. He needs to work on playing off a big man as he got great service and made very little of it.. Anticipation, touch and movement were all pretty poor tbh. Early days of course. Macca also off it but, again, early days...

I posted as much in the Shoutbox afterwards. I’m not drawing any wider conclusions or making any long-term judgements but it was a very poor game from Archer. Not quick enough, strong enough or skilful enough. There is a learning curve to playing against Premier League level defenders and Archer has very little experience of it currently but I’m hoping that he’s a fast learner.

was always going to happen early on with his history of injury and discipline. In his defence dint appear to warrant second yellow knowing it had to be backed with a red. 12 cards in a game that had very few bad tackles just shows referee never was in control
