I can see the appeal of both players. Origi is the more proven player and probably would be the better short term help. Archer probably would be the better long term signing if he continues to develop. After watching every goal he scored for liverpool I am now fully invested in this. I might be in the minority but I’d prefer him to archer simply because we have enough young strikers right now. I’d rather us get a more senior striker who has a better all round game, especially hold up play. Archer strikes me as another project which I don’t think we have the time to be doing if we want to stay up especially not for anything north of £15m
2023 with AC Milan if you want a more recent look at Origi
The thing I love most about this highlight real is that buried in amongst seeing him play infront of big crowds at massive stadiums there is one clip at 2:37 where he appears to be playing for a pub team down at a local park with a few small trees behind the goal.A couple of absolute thunderbastards in there. When he hits them, they stay hit, I'll give him that!
Good point, he’s not worth £100k a week though but needs must and he will add a bit of quality to our attacking input. In Origi’s defence, he’s never been much a starter at clubs like Liverpool, or Milan. So a lot of the games he has played have been off the bench, which makes it harder to score.
That wouldn’t be the case here, as we’re playing young players who are yet to even score a professional goal, so he would start.
True, he’s not. I hope we aren’t paying anywhere near that.Good point, he’s not worth £100k a week though but needs must and he will add a bit of quality to our attacking input.
Exactly, would definitely add to our attack, he’d take defenders out of the game for our attacking players to exploit their talents too.True, he’s not. I hope we aren’t paying anywhere near that.
Just looked and he’s got a goal for every 159 minutes of PL football. Nobody else in our side comes anywhere near that.
Where's this younger player who's been playing at Premiership level banging them in?He's played fewer than 250 games in an 11-year career so far and barely scored 50 goals.
Better to spend the money on an actual signing of a younger player with promise than someone who doesn't guarantee anything than costing a lot of money.
HopefulllyAnyone think our interest in Origi might be a little nudge to Villa over Archer?
Didn’t Klopp like Brewster and indicated he was sorry to see him leave ?Problem for Origi has been that at his clubs there were always players better than him. Liverpool had Firmino, Salah, and Mane. Milan has Giroud playing like he's still in his 20's.
Not easy to tell how good Origi is at this point because he hasn't been at a club where he's the main forward for a long time. I think for a striker confidence is really important, and it's hard to build confidence when you're always the guy coming off the bench.
I do remember that Klopp really liked him though and only reluctantly let him leave.
I need to retract this statement. Just realised i was thinking of Batshuayi who started the world cup games and not Origi!Been atrocious the last few times i saw him for Belgium. Can't see him being up for a relegation battle either.

He's hardly scored any goals anywhere in his career. Nothing suggests that would suddenly change here but we would be paying millions for the privilege.Where's this younger player who's been playing at Premiership level banging them in?
Osula and Benie are the young potentials for us, we need a 'proven at all levels' experienced player. Imagine them just having a conversation with him and what he's achieved already. He's only 28, and he played part of his career as a winger.
People analysing his recent goal return need to realise if he'd scored more for AC Milan, he wouldn't be coming to us in a million years.
Because due to the fact we can’t afford prem wages for him, he’s taken a job as a part time assassin……Why is Hecky waiting to pull a trigger ??

But we wouldn't be 'paying millions'. 100k a week ( and I bet we won't be paying it all) is 5.2m a year. As I said before it's a no risk signing as if he's crap we hand him back at the end of the season. Archer is the one we would be paying millions for to develop and its as likely he turns into another McBurnie/Brewster kind of signing as it is he's a success. He's hardly scored any goals anywhere in his career. At the time of the Brewster transfer, a Liverpool supporting friend was gutted as they were convinced he could kick on with them.Average Liverpool fan knows fuck all about football. I'm gunna ask a pal who supports Mansfield Town see what he reckons.
Sure, you could argue that he'd say this about all of his players. But the way he talked about Origi sounded like he almost felt sorry that he couldn't give him more minutes.Didn’t Klopp like Brewster and indicated he was sorry to see him leave ?
There is 0.000000000% chance we will sign Divock Origi.
About as likely as when we were close to signing Franck Ribery.
Wikipedia says he's scores 22 in 107 appearances.View attachment 168919
To score that many goals as mostly an impact sun and up against those attackers for minutes is very good
