In Divock's defence, over his career he's scored a goal on average every 233 minutes which isn't that bad (and he has scored those goals at a very high level). My main concern would be the amount of minutes he's capable of playing - his average in the league is 993 minutes per season. Could he actually play a full season for us?

He's played fewer than 250 games in an 11-year career so far and barely scored 50 goals.
Better to spend the money on an actual signing of a younger player with promise than someone who doesn't guarantee anything than costing a lot of money.

I completely understand why people are sceptical about his scoring record… but Akpom, a player who a lot of people did want, didn’t have a good scoring record until last season when he bagged 28 in the league alone.
It’s football. Anything can happen. I’m not for one second suggesting he scores 20+, but 10 goals could be the difference between staying up and going down

My thoughts.

We need someone with pace and power that will be fit every week.
Someone with those attributes is what we need to unsettle opposing defenders this season. A good runner with the ball and the ability to put the ball in the net.

Origi may not have scored many….but he HAS scored. He may be a useful sub…at the moment we are bringing kids on as sub.
But my thoughts are that some were happy with Akpom despite a shocking goal record barring one season…all we need is for Origi to have his good season with us.
Never know, are around him by Hecky and Jack we might just get him the chances for him to get 12-15 goals…and with that we may be there or abouts from staying up.

After watching every goal he scored for liverpool I am now fully invested in this. I might be in the minority but I’d prefer him to archer simply because we have enough young strikers right now. I’d rather us get a more senior striker who has a better all round game, especially hold up play. Archer strikes me as another project which I don’t think we have the time to be doing if we want to stay up especially not for anything north of £15m
