Mcburnie

Never rated him because you just don't like him. That's the crux of it
thats not it at all at the time we signed him i thought it was an excellent signing after his goals at swansea but just dont think hes done it consistently enough for us for the 20m we paid for him

Why are people winding themselves up on the back of a blatant wind up tweet? Then pointing the folk winding themselves up as further proof the rumour has substance?

Probably better asking someone who actually knows…
PL defenders will dominate him physically and his only response will be to foul them or dive for a free kick which when not given , he'll get up the refs nose and get no decisions for the entire game. PL will not suit him. But Hecky will not let him go unless 2 strikers are coming in.
His injury and lack of preseason games will not have helped him develop the strength & athleticism upgrade required for PL.
He's only been optioned for a year so it's unlikely we'll see him after next summer unless he transforms himself soon.
I’m old enough to remember when Chelsea’s defence had to be subbed at half time against us due to being absolutely bullied by McBurnie.

I’m also old enough to remember the great Vincent Kompany’s Burnley defence shit themselves every time he got the ball in a 5-2 pasting.

McB seems a decent lad but if someone wants to take his biscuit legs off us for money then no brainer

"Never not accepted him just never rated him", like his goals last year, all bobbar. First season premier league goals, all bobbar.

I don't understand, it doesn't stand up to scrutiny to me. Especially with the allowances other players have gotten/ get.

That's my opinion, you have yours I have mine like you say
Correct never rated him you have nailed it he is indeed bobbar.

Wouldn't waste your breath mate. He will never ever be accepted by some of our lot. Been that way since he joined.

With a lot of good reason in fairness.
Lots of recency bias on McBurnie, a £20m signing that had scored 7-10 goals over his first 3 years with the club...

I agree with Keen Blade , no PL defender is worried about McBurnie coming to town.
I like him a lot, seems a likeable character and is a decent player in the Championship but he isn't at this standard.

How can McBurnie be so bad but still be able to get us a fee high enough to get 2 strikers in? 🤣
We need 2 strikers anyway , we have one decent transfer fee left to spend , 2 PL loans and unlimited free agents & foreign loans.
McBurnie is fine as backup but I'd prefer better in the eleven.
He is a know it all! :D
No need for personal comments !
I express my opinion from 4 years of assessment with my own eyes.
It's a forum.
Plenty of people have opposite opinions , which is fine by me 😀.
I hope he gets fit , stays fit , dominates PL defences and stops moaning at refs when he's outmuscled.
He's fine on the bench but I'm dubious of his effect on our season if he's starting games.

If we could swap him for someone you can rely on to be available all season I can see the temptation

We can't afford to have a poor fitness record this season, we can't be derailed by our Biscuit Men

McBurnie stands to be an important player and would be a bad one to be without. He is a risk, unfortunately

Any replacement should also be someone who'll get 15+ goals in the championship next season and be a decent target man in that league. Kaba who was at Cardiff might be another option
Off to Birmingham Kaba

Tin hat on, free to sign a pre-contract in Jan.

Another one who's told the board he's not interested in signing a new contract?

Wouldn't be surprised to see him end up joining his mate Lunny at Rangers by end of season whilst playing minimal minutes for us this season.

Wind up or not, surely there would be some interest in a top top Striker like McB entering the last year of his contract ?

And additionally let’s assume that, based on recent events, the club would not allow such a valuable asset to depart for nowt in a few short months ?

So wouldn’t a new longer term contract be in order to secure the assets true value ?

Maybe someone with a bit more inside info on this could pipe up ?

Maybe 🤔.

Because he’s in the last year of his contract… seems to be fine to sell others in their last year so don’t know why the club wouldn’t sell McB.
An early decision point would presumably be to establish whether or not he is prepared to consider and sign a new contract? That was the obvious factor behind the sales of Ndaiye and Berge, and so it’s probably unfair on the club to reach for a sweeping negative generalisation.

It would be madness to sell but it would depend how we replace him and given our recent sloth like approach I wouldn’t be confident.

That said, I feel tired just thinking about watching McBurnie all season.

If a striker with a year left on his contract who scored 28 goals last season is around 10 mill I dread to think what mcburnie is worth lol
Yeah but how many defensive headers did he win? 😜

If you got 10m for him you'd be seeing this as reasonable to a degree.

But then who is the amazing striker you replace him with for a similar fee?

Another example of the poor PL recruitment by Wilder and co, certainly for the money. Only Brighton were interested in him and they weren't taking him and Maupay; surprised we paid so much, 12m would have been more reasonable. Another who will be sold or lost at a loss. I don't mean that book value stuff btw, I mean simply sold for less than we acquired.

So far Ramsdale is the only first team acquisition from that PL campaign that went for more than we paid and that took some huge recency bias and key injuries to England keepers to up his profile as the Euros approached!

I hope he stays to be honest. He's a player that, now his professionalism has increased, will get you double figures in the Championship. He's a positive contributor to team morale I'd say. He helps out defensively as well, so he's very much a team player too.

I think you get more out of him extending his deal than just letting him leave.

If that's reference to me you need to grow up.

Dogs abuse = somebody disagreeing with you apparently.

If he plays Sunday and comes through that, can we expect Leeds to test us?

We know what the Prince says about them leaving for nothing..

I’m going with zero chance of even making the bench.

Another striker comes through the door on top of Archer b4 deadline and Mc will know his number is up.

Very difficult position for the club is this one.

An incredibly saleable asset coming off the back of a superb season of consistently high performance levels, top scorer in a promoted team, who can walk out the door for nowt in a few months time.

Ili wasn’t allowed to do this. Sander neither.

I’ll bet they are queuing up with offers.

Surely ?
