He doesn’t have a choice! Otherwise we wont get a fee if he just runs his contract down! If that’s the stance he’s taken, leave for free in a year, then obviously common sense dictates we will sell him to anybodyIf that was true he wouldn't move now.

The more both Jimmy and Darren talk the more it’s obvious they’re essentially spin doctors for the prince.Does anyone know whether Sander asked for a transfer, or whether he is being pushed out of the club to raise funds?
Like a lot of people I thought he was happy to run down his contract, and suspect that we've told him to F off as we need the money.
On Blades Ramble tonight Jimmy was very much painting the picture that Sander has asked for a transfer on the eve of the season, that's he's a disgrace, has played us for fools, and that he's not that good anyway. He did sound very much like he was acting as a mouthpiece for the Prince tonight though and was putting a positive spin on things. I might be wrong, but it did come accross that way to me.
He dunt go un less he wants too ,!!Not having this “wants to be closer to Haaland nonsense”. Manchester to Sheffield is easily commutable for a footballer. Duffy, Lundstram and JOC all commuted from liverpool and thats about 45 minutes further down the road. If Berge wanted to hang out with Erling he’d move there and commute to Sheffield. He’s a pro footballer ffs, he could even have a place in Sheffield and a place in Manchester if he really wanted.
Judging from what I’ve seen and heard from Berge in the past, I would suggest the only reason he’s talking to Burnley is because we have accepted the offer. I cant see that he’s forced a move and especially not to Burnley when he’s out of contract at the end of the season. That’s no slight on Burnley btw, he could very easily go there at the end of the season when he’s out of contract following our inevitable relegation.
Looking at this from Berge’s pov, if theres a choice between forcing a move and playing out his contract, it would make more sense for him to stay with us. If the club has accepted an offer then that’s no skin off his nose, he gets a pay rise a year earlier than expected and still gets to play in the Premier League.

The frustration is that Sheffield United are seen as a club where top players are allowed to run their contract down or be sold with a year remaining. If we were a more attractive prospect then Ndiaye and Berge wouldn't have been in the last 12 months of their contracts. I know there's the argument that we've offered them contracts, but others are obviously offering better money/prospects/lifestyle and it's resulting in a loss of talent. It’s as if everyone is anti Prince and just not using their heads, it’s really simple, berge on his side isn’t pushing for a move, he’s just running his contract down, then he can move for free in a year, that doesn’t benefit us in the slightest, everyone concerned would much prefer him just to sign a new contract…. He doesn’t want to!!! The prince has no choice but to get some money for him now rather than lose him for nothing in 12 months… we are in exactly the same position with Jebbo, negotiate a deal when we offer you one or dont it’s up to you but we won’t let anyone leave for free, I 100 % don’t blame the Prince on this whatsoever, it’s just frustrating, the upside is we use the money to sign someone who does want to play for us
I do genuinely think this might be more to do with Kompany, maybe Berge has been a bigger fan of his than any of us could imagine, maybe Kompany has said I’m going to play you here and Berge would rather play in whatever position that role is, let’s say for arguments sake it’s CDM, than playing further forwardI have had chance to calm down since yesterday's breaking news regarding Berge. If its true that we have tried to have contract talks on numerous occasions and that he has been offered a very good deal but still won't have talks, then it is time for him to go!
I however, will never understand us selling him to Burnley. I personally think we should be actively inviting other teams to make a bid to match Burnley's 12m.
I also have no idea why Berge would want to play for Burnley, unless the contract they have offered him is ridiculous. Maybe he wants to go so he can cut 30 minutes off his drive to Manchester to get his instagram pictures with Haaland.
Overall I'm a big fan of Berge but deep down we all know he's not lived up to expectations. Maybe as a fan base we expected too much from what he's actually capable of. He's definitely replaceable.
Not a chance we would pay him and not play him. That's one of the most farfetched claims of the summer so far I think. He still has the choice to reject the personal contract from Burnley of course.. however 'rumours' floating around seem to say the board have told him if he doesn't go he won't be played..
Honestly can't see any club saying that to any player. He still has the choice to reject the personal contract from Burnley of course.. however 'rumours' floating around seem to say the board have told him if he doesn't go he won't be played..
Is there anything coming directly from the Board ? I think not.I'm at the point where I don't believe any of the bullshit coming from the board, they are absolutely full of shite
Make the club an attractive place to be and we wouldnt have this problem. The owner did an interview with SUW last week.Is there anything coming directly from the Board ? I think not.

I don't think anybody is trying to make that out?Now we’re expected to believe he’s sacked us off to be closer to Haaland, to Burnley?

As you've said above, he's running his contract down, so he's been sold rather than get nothing at the end of it.
I do like Jimmy, and his channel is entertaining. I always got the sense that he was an impartial fan telling it like it is. Last night's "Ramble" was the first time I got the impression he was working to a script. Maybe the Prince has fed him a load of cobblers and he believes it? Maybe Sander really does want to jump ship? Guess we'll not know til it all comes aht int weshThose that don't like Jimmy don't have to listen if they don't want to, I don't think he gets a lot of followers because of any inside info but for more how he presents the station and people just want to listen to a Blades related channel, same with The Sheff Utd Way and Shoreham View but Shoreham View is a very different channel of course and don't appear to have the interaction with the Prince to the same degree that the Sheff Utd Way or Blades Ramble do so that in a way can be to their advantage. I'm not a "Rambler" as such, I believe that's paid members, but I think his channel is decent, I like how he comes across, and he's entitled to his opinion like everybody else. As for his views or similar on Berge, I don't know the inside story on Berge like most of us don't, but it does appear that he is unwilling to sign another new contract, that's his prerogative for sure, but given he's just a year left on his contract I can understand the club trying to sell him/force him out because we don't want to lose him for nothing and the Prince's logic that players play harder in their last year of a contract only works when the player wants to sign a new contract, otherwise you can end up in John Lundstram territory.
It'll be a real shame losing Berge to Burnley, that's like your girlfriend dumping you for the fat uglier bloke down the road just because he drives a slightly nicer car (i.e. more money Burnley will be offering Berge) but maybe Berge just thinks that he may as well go now than stay given that we're in a mess squad wise (which will be sorted I'm sure in the final weeks or so) or maybe the rumours are true that he's just been forced out, but only likely because he won't sign a new contract which is then forcing the clubs hand. He may argue the club's offers of a new contract have been no better than what he is already on in fairness to Berge. People can criticise the Prince but I'm with him that we don't want players leaving for nothing when we can sell them on and buy in a replacement. If we can sell Berge and bring in O'Brien and Souza or similar quality players than I'm ok with that. I also wish Berge well though, he's done well for United overall and he seems a top guy, he will be missed I'm sure but as I say hopefully not too much if we bring in decent replacements.
Shoreham View is a very different channel of course and don't appear to have the interaction with the Prince to the same degree that the Sheff Utd Way or Blades Ramble do
Excellent post mate!!!!! Totally agree on your views.Berge last season, arguably playing his best football here in that final third.
Scored the goal to seal promotion, described it as the best moment of his life.
Settled here with his Mrs, and been vocal about wanting to run down his contract with us.
Probably the only player looking on the pace preseason so far.
Going on trips with Haaland in the off season and giving out blades shirts.
Now we’re expected to believe he’s sacked us off to be closer to Haaland, to Burnley?
I don’t buy it.
Whatever your thoughts on him as a player he’s never given us reason to be believe he hates it here and wants out, despite us fucking around with him like a golden goose and pimping him out to anyone who’d meet the valuation, to the point of him living out of a hotel at one point.
I think it’s gone like this, here’s a slightly better contract, sign it or fuck off.
Burnley have obviously come in with a better offer and it’s forced his hand.
I don’t believe for a second he’s long harboured ambitions to play for Burnley.
We are weaker without him, like it or not. This is making me very worried now.
