Gone Elsewhere Malik Tillman

I don't think the idea of Akpom is directly to replace Ndiaye. I think since Ndiaye was probably expected to be our top scorer this season, they have gone for a goalscorer first all. Then it would either be Tillman on perm or a Prem.loan along the lines of McAtee/Diallo/Chukwameka types, playing behind/off the centre forward, where we already have Traore,.Slimane. I guess we will look to line up 3-4-2-1. So I think in whatever combo,.we will see two let's say 'attackers' before deadline day.

I dont think many of you understand how akpom actually plays and seem to think he is a billy sharp type player who thrives on being fed the ball round the area
Thats not what ive seen when ive watched him
I see an attacking midfielder with a great first touch ,vision and awareness who often gets on the ends of quick passing moves round tge edge of the are he has usually started with a quick give and go or clever short pass

Jebbo doesn't smile. Constantly looks like a fucked off teenager. For that reason I'd sell.
I remember Henry being like this a lot. Never smiled when he scored, just had an arrogant look.

Bet Arsenal wish they'd get rid of him earlier too.

I'd like to think if we were serious about this lad then we could have a bit more spending power than our rivals here.

Harrisblade I'm not sure you’ve understood my point.

Loans offer no advantages long term, I’ve posted about this already. We loan improve them, they sign a huge contract or value shoots up, we can’t afford them back. Loans offer short term improvements but they don’t steady the ship. It’s a gamble every year to see if we can get hold of another player. Wolves were laughing after selling MGW.

It’d be the same in any company in that if you’re better staff we’re always temps you never truly progress. Can you explain how losing our better players every season is advantageous for us?
Also loans especially loans to buy makes the pool of players smaller

We need permanents in principle anyway to avoid the cliff edge next summer

If you don't get permanents you have no asset to sell and have essentially burnt your budget (and future) on loan fees and wages. This leaves you very vulnerable in the Champ as the reduction in revenue can't be covered by anything, necessitating further loans until your parachute is cut and you fall off the financial precipice. The fees Southampton are getting show the way forward.

The argument that you shouldn't risk permanents isn't a great one. Essentially you are conceding that your management and scouting department is crap and you'd rather risk putting yourself in the likely vulnerable position above than trust their judgement. A loan to buy with zero loan fee or acquiring a player on loan that is miles beyond you is the only time this sound strategy.

Akpom, Palmer & Archer backed up by Traore, Tillman, McBurnie & Brewster would be excellent and would allow Jebbison & Osula to go out and develop. Not likely that it would go this smoothly though but it would be great if we managed it. Rangers were bought out of their option which suggests Bayern are open to including one in a future deal for Tillman, it’s just going to be more than 5m.

"Bayern Munich would be open to allowing Tillman – who has entered the final year of his current deal – to leave the club, with a loan move a possibility this summer."

Whilst he was fantastic last season I'm not completely sold on Akpom, especially if he's expensive by our standards.

However, if we get in all those you've mentioned I'd be over the moon and much more optimistic.

Now it's being reported I am practically tumescent.

Probably not realistic but if we can get this lad and a striker say Akpom I'd feel a bit more positive about the squad for sure.

Still need another midfielder too for me.

In fairness the fountain of knowledge that is Darren Smith said we are looking for a further 4 signings and all of them forward or midfield so would make sense numbers wise.

So why did Bayern cancel the €6m agreement with Rangers?

Are they looking to get him signed to a new contract then loan him out? Or do they think they can give a much bigger fee than €6m?

A loan without him signing a new deal at Bayern would seem almost too good to be true given his deal is expiring.

They bought them out of it I think.

I don’t get it, if he’s in the final year of his contract, why would they send him out on loan? 🤷‍♂️
