You watched his highlights? The man's a destroyer
Youtube highlights are a waste of time. See Ravel Morrison if you want proof.

The parent of an U10 can make a montage of their kid and stick it on youtube and put 'next Messi' or something similar. The fact that people get drawn in by this stuff really surprises me.

Not saying he won't be a good player but youtube highlights are not the way of telling if he is or not.

ANY? Weren’t Rangers and Celtic interested in Traore?
I honestly don't know, I do remember Rangers being mentioned. Whether they made a serious bid or not I don't know?
But you get what I'm saying, we a low balling everything and as a result we've got nothing to show for it.

Man City don't own him, much like Sheffield United don't own Beerschot's players. Souza belongs to Lommel, he's not on loan to them from City. He's their player, which makes any potential deal even more manageable.
"Although"... signed by Lommel, a 2nd division Belgian team and has twice been loaned out to higher ranked teams - Mechelen (Belgian 1st Tier) and Espanyol (La Liga).

Aren't the work permit rules a lot more relaxed in Belgium? Smells of a "get him into Europe and see how he develops" scenario

If YouTube reels were reality scouts and data analysts would be out of a job!

I get where you're coming from as we did that with Coulibaly on loan to Beerschot, but Lommel are a club with their own players. They aren't a squad of 25 players all on loan from other leagues to get a permit. He's a Lommel player, not a Man City player. He's there because he belongs to them.

Marcello!

Marcello?

Marcellecho?

Marcello
But he was Portuguese really haha

Born in Brazil though?
Born in Rio, Brazil to 2x Portuguese parents.
Returned to Portugal in his early teens.

I'm classing him as Portuguese. RND was born in Saudi Arabia and Iliman Ndiaye in France as examples.
Marcelo was never good enough to play at International level, so we don't know who he would have chosen

Lommel are a satellite club. All decisions are taken at Man City level as opposed to UW where from the start the plan was to manage each club individually and just share some knowledge and general costs like scouting and attract group benefits like sponsor and kit deals. Lommel is not a sustainable club at pro level. They have less than 1.000 season ticket holders, probably even less than 500. Yet the last years they have been overloaded with multi million transfers from all over the world. Another loophole in FFP that Man City is exploiting. And this gives players like Souza but there are many others that are way too good for Lommel but not good enough for Man City so they sell or loan them out with a profit.

Should never have been allowed.

What drugs are you on to be positive? I'm normally a clapper when it comes to the team itself but I am struggling here.

I wouldn’t say I’m positive about our current situation, but I’m hopeful that by the end of the window we’ll have a decent squad. If we don’t sign anyone, I’ll admit we’re completely fucked.

I also don’t buy into Sky’s best league in the world marketing bollocks. Half the Premier League teams are pretty average and it wouldn’t take much for 3 teams to be worse than us.

I wasn't on about his ability, more his style.
He's a holding midfielder so he won't be getting double figures each season.

We might struggle to get double figure goals as a team with a frontline of McBurnie, Jebbo, Osula, Brewster and the unknown Traore.

Berge or Anel might be top scorer this coming season (if we don't sell them!).

and thats why we definetly need another striker in possibly 2

Plus someone to create for them. We've been spoilt with MGW, Ndiaye and McAtee over the last 2 seasons, we need to fill that gap.

Agreed - We need creative players even more than strikers

We could have prime messi and Ronaldo io front but it will make no difference if there’s no one to create.

The lessons of last relegation season should make that abundantly clear - we can’t have Osborn as an attacking midfielder

This discussion reminds me of a genuinely hilarious thread a few years ago when we signed Brewster called something like "More Striker = More Goals" by the legend with more phoenix accounts than you can shake a stick at, ChabuddyG.

I think the gist was that no matter how many forwards we signed we wouldn't score with the midfield we had, the consensus at the time seemed to be that we only needed a striker and that striker ended up being Brewster. A few years on and we're in the same position it seems!

We signed McAtee after the season had started and Gibbs-White on the last day of the window, so there is still time although it will be too late for Palace and probably a couple of other games which is disappointing. The fact that we signed players like these though gives me faith that Heckingbottom and Mitchell a) know that we need players in this position and b) can spot good young talent who will fit into our team. Whether they'll be allowed to bring someone in is another matter.

Fewer games in the premier. Missing out on a few weeks is a much bigger chunk of the season

His Instagram bio states he's a City player which I'm sure his club loves

Also follows 50cent for what its worth

not disagreeing its a gimme that we need 2 more midfielders in still think we need a minimum of 5 more to come in if were to have any chance of survival this season my main concern regarding our current crop of strikers is that even if we get some creativity in midfield im still not confident they will get us the goals and thats why we definetly need a good quality striker to come in
