Star reporting it as fact that we've put a bid in:
The Stir wouldn’t know a fact if it hit it in the face - it is as usual quoting someone else’s story - the day the Stir gets a piece of direct inside news from the Lane , McBurnie will stop moaning at refs , Berge will aggressively win every headed challenge using his 6’5”and Brewster will spend a period without injury.

Only certainty is we won’t be seeing him and illi in the same Blades team

On the contrary , we desperately need them both or we won’t score anywhere near enough goals to survive in the PL , on the stark evidence of our preseason games thus far.
I’m hoping the Prince has found $15m somewhere.
i agree with you we definetly need another striker in even if illiman stays brewster mcburnie jebbo and osula wont get us the goals to keep us in the premier league

Seeing some Metz fans on Twitter reckoning it's a done deal in next couple of days...
McCall sounded fairly bullish on more arrivals in the next couple of weeks. Maybe this lad is one of them, that'll blow the '20m budget' out of the water!

Would rather spend 12m on Akpom than risk 18m on this lad. Like Traore, he looks lightweight and clearly wouldn't offer some of the major components that Ndiaye gives us. If we do go ahead and spend big on him it could be incredibly wasteful

I've seen similar, but from what I've seen it seems that they think it's dependent on us selling Ndiaye (which is assumed a foregone conclusion)

Have to disagree on this one. Akpom turns 28 in couple months so would be in his 30s by time contract ran out with us. Apart from Boro he's had a terrible scoring record.

This guy is 22 and is averaging 1 goal every 2 games in his 3 senior seasons so far.

Mikautadze has a much much higher ceiling for only a 6 mill difference.

(Probably less tbh, can't see Boro letting him go to a prem team for less than 15)

Totally agree. Don't understand anyone wanting Akpom.

Akpom offers more of what Ndiaye does. He's a physical presence and links up well. I don't think last season will be a flash in the pan for him and even though resale value wouldn't look too great at his age, that's not always the priority - we'd be getting him for his best years and he could save us wasting fortunes on another Brewster or two. If he did well he'd easily hold a 12m+ value for a couple of years anyway. Problem is, if he was ever to revert to previous underwhelming goalscoring form it would be most likely to happen in a team like ours this season! Fuck it, maybe just sign some solid lads in defence and midfield instead....

Fwiw I think it's rubbish about us being after this lad. Even if Ndiaye goes I don't think we'll get him and if Ndiaye stays we need to invest in midfield.

If they're right (and I do have doubts), then that has to be us preparing the ground for Ndiaye leaving.

There's no way we go out and pay that money otherwise.
Not necessarily leaving immediately. One way or the other we're losing him next summer (barring miracles) so if a likely replacement is available now it makes sense to get him through the door and up to speed over the course of the season, leading to a much less risky and panicked transition.
