Tbf I can see why some are confused when it's called a minimum release fee occasionally when really it's a maximum!

I can see how that term may cause little confusion. In case anyone would the term defined this is what it says when I googled:Tbf I can see why some are confused when it's called a minimum release fee occasionally when really it's a maximum!
Don't beleave they even talked to him ! Fake news!I can see how that term may cause little confusion. In case anyone would the term defined this is what it says when I googled:
A minimum fee release clause is a clause in a player's contract which sets a minimum fee that a club must bid in order to be able to buy that player. If a club bid's the minimum fee set in a player's contract in an initial payment, the player's club cannot block the bid and must allow the bidder to talk to the player.
(Or if you're Marseille then you just ignore the club and talk to the player first.)
I agree wholeheartedly with your final sentence. So after 12 games the whole world sees how good he is and then there's no chance he signs a new contract. All these hyperthetical situations are great but a club like ours doesn't have the bargaining strength of most of the PL. Most people can see this Ndiaye is one of the best players whose ever played for this club. You just get a feeling with one, very very occasionally, if ever.
If we can get him to sign a deal on 50k a week for 3 year which sees us keep him, this season but may end with the possibility he leaves next summer for either 15m or 35 million, then that has to be better than him going either in this transfer window, or for nothing next summer.
IF he becomes the next Lionel Messi or Ronaldo for us next season then yes we may think back about what could have been and how we could have got 50 million or 80 million but if he won't sign on those terms then it's never been an option. Even if he's an average PL player next season, 50k a week is an average salary for most players in this league. We will have no trouble selling him on that wage.
I just want to see him wear the United shirt next season and show everyone what he can do and then if he has to leave we get some thing back for how we've developed him.
Possible yehMaybe the Prem teams heard that we thought £17m was a ludicrous amount.
If we'd looked in any way interested in selling at that price there might have been an awful lot more interest
Naivety, xenophobia & historical inaccuracy all within 4 sentences - top postIt is about time some one pointed out to the frogs that he is OUR player and has a contract . Either pay what WE want or fuck off and leave him alone . They seem to think they are above the rules of tapping up contracted players . Pity they were not as persistant in the bloody trenchers.
£10m?? you are joking, may as well sell him now...Dear Blades board,
Agree to the lower release clause (say £10m) and get him signed up.
If we do, we get him playing next season for the mighty Blades and £10m if he goes
At the moment he could refuse to play, run down his contract and walk for nothing.
It’s a no brained..
Signed
The fans.
AyeI understand the argument that he's worth much more. However, we can't force him to sign a contract. Given that right now he can walk away for free in twelve months, what would you do if he just point black refuses to sign a contract with a release clause any higher than 10 million?
AyeI tell you what if he lights up the prem I want ALOT more than the 25m people are mentioning on here if we stay up.
£10m?? you are joking, may as well sell him now...
That literally makes no sense lol
I think some people are going to be dissapointed at what the minimum release fee ends up being... but it is what it is to ensure that we keep Ili for this season and still extract a fee.

ITKer …………From snippets I’ve heard from within the club , that is the approach we’re working on and it makes complete sense to me .
If by keeping him we retain our PL status , that would be worth around £150 million to the club .
To have an agreement which allows him to leave as a result of that for , say , £20 - 30 million less than his market value is a win / win for all concerned , which is the ideal scenario for all good business transactions .
He’s spot on though - frogsNaivety, xenophobia & historical inaccuracy all within 4 sentences - top post
Who taught you to do that ?
So a team does sometimes offer more than the release clause, says Chelsea also did it when they signed Jackson.

So that they can spread payments over a longer term... It's almost like treating the extra over sums as interest.
You don't get bidding wars when a release clause is in place.
Without wanted to set gaffablade off again, it would depend on what the clause says, and it could pretty much say anything. So that they can spread payments over a longer term... It's almost like treating the extra over sums as interest.

I just don’t understand your animosity towards that account? You called it pointless and belittled the person behind it by ‘imagining a life‘ doing what they do as though it was pathetic. When did I say it was up to me? I’m not trying to stop them doing anything, I’m just giving my opinion. If I thought people would be so sensitive about it I wouldn’t have bothered.
Let’s be honest, a lot of what they post isn’t really news but if you find it interesting then that’s fine.

Yes the Ndiaye thing has dragged on (and on) and as a result that account is sharing a lot. But this sort of account should be championed not put down. I see a lot of United related news than I otherwise would because of it.
Simply so they could structure the finances to not breach FFP, it won't start a bidding war. Any bid of that price needs to be accepted. So a team does sometimes offer more than the release clause, says Chelsea also did it when they signed Jackson.

I’m not upset i just responded to your comment which was, by your own admission, a little over the top.I honestly didn't think such a throw away comment would upset you so much. Belittled is a strong word but I'm happy to apologise for what I said, it was probably a little over the top.
If running such an account keeps you happy mate then keep it up![]()
You can agree a contract at any length you want still. It’s just you can only amortise the fee/wages over a maximum of 5 years now.Now (or soon to be) limited to 5 years - to negate their creative 8-9 year approach
A random blade, who keeps opening and closing random accounts and is often retweeted by Nixon asked him From absolutely nowhere. It's probably himI read somewhere on Nicko's feed Palace eyeing up Ndiaye.
