Neal Maupay

Yeah it was weird to see this come up on Twitter. Not sure how reputable the source is that's said it, but if we're being difficult to Everton regarding Ndiaye, then can't see them wanting to help us with Maupay.

That being said, they may be desperate to offload and lower the wage bill so some truth in it but surely they won't want to strengthen a relegation rival?

They probably think they are weakening aus if they allow us to have him. They also get the bonus of us paying a large chunk of his wages this season.

For what it's worth, I think he's the sort who might need an arm around him and some coaching from the lads at the Lane and he could come good again. Wouldn't be against this one if true.

"Arm around him" being code for JLT beating the shite out of him in a training game if he steps out of line

Yep. He had a shit season for a very wank team last season, so what?

1 in 4 for Brighton who weren't as good as they are now isnt bad. His record for Brentford was sublime.

100% take him even if it will be ridiculed by some.

He'd score at least 7 or 8, and provide the work rate and movement to make us competitive up top

Would go great with Ndiaye but would also be a good replacement in many ways

the only argument against us signing him when we were linked before was that he's too similar to what we already had in Sharp and McBurnie offered something different. if we can get him in on loan and play to his strengths he could be the perfect replacement for Billy

Be an excellent addition, or at least potentially with his past.

i dont think its a bad shout hasnt worked out for him at everton so will want to prove a point but if he comes on loan holgate isnt unless we sign him on a permanent

I don't get the Maupay love in. Not the kind of player who is going to create much but more about tap ins. We need more players who can create first otherwise he will have nothing to tap in.

Cut you a bit of slack pal, here's some advice.

As you are new here, what we usually do that you might not realise is keep the threads down, milultiple threads on the same subject (like this one) have to be merged and it costs the moderators needless time, just comment in the Maupay thread that already exists..

You will find that we've been linked or spoke about almost all current players that we've either missed out on, or have been on the radar at some point.

So, don't start a thread on Dan Burn..

It's likely there might be one already 😉

I can't believe anyone would turn their nose up at Maupay when we're currently looking at and probably expecting to start the season with just McBurnie as our senior CF
Our fans have a memory of about seven micro seconds and Maupay has had one bad season so...he's crap and can't score goals.

I do think there are questions about his attitude though. Comes across as a bit of a bellend.

I agree, but we will create so little chances that when we do get in we need a finisher..

We could do worse, pukki was wanted by some, Maupay is a far better option.

Our young players should have enough, but hecky doesn't seem that confident as we are looking at strikers.

I doubt the club would ever consider Pukki now we've let sharp go, similar age, attributes etc. Maupay is in upgrade on Pukki but he just doesn't excite me. Would rather Jebbo/Ousala got game time as I really don't think he's that good personally. Seen him miss some sitters over the last couple of seasons & he doesn't create enough to make up for lack of goals & chances.

I didn’t see the thread, I literally posted it two minutes after the other was bumped 😂😂😂
