Neal Maupay

Spot on. Most sense I've read on the matter.

I've had pelters elsewhere but Jebbison and Brewster offer pace, agility and excitement up top - especially with Ndiaye buzzing around. I wouldn't actually be distraught if we went with those two and McPub. Much rather spunk the moneh elsewhere.

It's centre mid where next season will be decided. Can't see Doyle signing for us in a million years, so what's the plan? Neither Norwood or Berge are fit for purpose in the PL without the ball. We saw that 3 years ago. So where do we go? Assuming Fleck follows Sharp out of the door, we don't have a single player on our books who will be starting in centre mid on Day One in August. Scary thought...
With the greatest respect to Doyle, he's not been as good as the recent hype would have us believe. NOTE: I do want us to sign him, so don't fly off the handle at me!

Ignoring the injuries and struggles to last 90 minutes, he had many ineffective matches. He was generally very good when moved into the Norwood slot in the run in, but was still making some mistakes that most Premier League fans (possibly managers) would have immediate tantrums about.

Very strong last few months. Overall season wouldn't be sparking a bidding war.

Just a bit of context. As a rule I'm the optimistic/smoke blowing type - just think he's being slightly sensationalised.

I do really like Doyle and would like him to continue that role for us on a permanent basis. At the right price though.

Absolutely agree. He had a mixed first half of the season and aLthough finished the season strongly, still had games where he went missing.

However, as someone who's come through the City Academy, has captained the England U21 and driven a team to promotion out of the Championship. Throw in that he's English and every team below 8th in the PL will be interested and able to offer more than we can.

Really hope I'm wrong and we end up signing him, but I seriously doubt it.

You may be right. Only time will tell I guess!

On Maupay. I think we could do a lot worse for this season(if suitably cheap fee and wage cut etc). But also think we could do better in terms of suitable age/ceiling.
Would say definitely no to using a loan slot (from Prem team).

dont think maupay is a bad shout but think financially might be out of our reach cameron archer could be more within our budget on loan but also think carlton morris could be on our radar if luton dont go up

Certainly is. And it's the one area where we need a complete overhaul. The midfield very much defines the team so at this point we could almost be anything. The difference between getting it right and wrong there could be dramatic. If there's one area to focus on getting quality it's here. The rest can fall into place around it

I have similar views about the strikers but have written Brewster off and would swap him for Osula - I think one of him or Jebbison will burst out - the time is right for them

I like Morris and Adebayo to be honest.

I'd go with Maupay if the finances were right but in my mind it's more important that we spend the majority of funds in upgrading the midfield and strengthening the defence/keeper to challenge Wes. We need to be solid and creative in the middle.of the park and add some pace. At the moment the midfield department is as bare as old Mother Hubbard's cupboard. We urgently need pace, tackling ability and freshness. Norwood is ok as a filler and squad player now, Berge probably the only one I would trust to start in there and Fleck and Osborn should be shown the door now.

would agree 2 strikers needed and at least 2 new midfielders minimum if we dont sign at least 8 new players cant see us having any chance of staying in the premier league but can understand the club being cautious and planning for relegation then another crack at the championship title with the club on a sound financial footing

Midfield is a priority as regards signings for me, the two city lads has proved we need movement and players running at the opposition, McAtee is a young Grealish imo, committing players and having an eye for a goal. Forwards wise we (again) are hoping that Brewster, Jebbison, Osula and even McBurnie are going to step up

I think we are going to be playing a lot on the counter, due to not having a lot of possession.
Therefore we've got to have 2/3 strikers with pace in abundance, don't think we've got one have we ?

nidaye but we should be playing a lone striker next season and get another body in midfield 3421 especially in away games

I'm with you ,he finished the season really well but couldn't play twice a week for the first two thirds of it
I'll be amazed if he isn't available for 10-15 m

I'd expect us to sign a striker on loan rather than permanent. We have Brewster coming back and 2 potentially top strikers coming through so maybe need someone for 1 season.

i think we need 2 strikers even if they are only loans just cant see mcburnie or brewster getting us the goals to keep us up

Apparently 'asked Everton about a loan deal' for him.

FWIW he'd be a good signing for us. Not hit it off at Everton but he was great for Brentford and competent for Brighton. But we will need to create more chances as he's quite negligent infront of goal at times, but he's good at getting in behind and stretching the play. We certainly know we need more upfront, and given we are SKINT - it's not a bad move.

He's not an Ndiaye replacement though.

We always get our targets at the end (of their careers)

Come on balbadonde, this is getting out of hand.
