I don’t think I’ve sat in G&H block since it reopened after the closure. It’s a much different South Stand crowd at the Kop end. They just look over at the Kop occasionally and try and work out what the people there are doing.

It was tried and didn't work out and I'd be willing to say that Ricky tried harder than anyone else would.

For that to work it'd need someone to run it as a supporters group and have nights out, competitions and stuff to get a real buzz about it, and the club would have to make it is as easy as possible.

A singing section on the Kop won't work because of season ticket seats separating groups.

I think the thing that'd help most is small clusters of a few sitting together and not being afraid of making a noise. Enough of those scattered around and people will join in.

Shift the season ticket holders, me included.

It needs about a thousand seats displacing between two existing groups that regularly counter each other.

It would completely transform the atmosphere.

I'll take a stab at how many will contribute to this thread. I'll say 20 people. Out of that 20 people two will probably fall out and never speak again other than to slag the other off. 33% will disagree with tha majority. Ricky will get called (mockingly) an ultra wannabe. Foxy will ban 1 person and the relevant point of the thread will be lost to childish bickering. That's just 20 people, not the several hundred it will need to have any sort of legs.

That’s the point plenty of people would like to but they don’t cause there isn’t people around them who would sing

I personally only really sing at away games as at home games it just isn’t the norm and don’t want to loook like a loon standing up and singing in the upper tier

However if there was a section say on the KOP that was specifically for singing and creating an atmosphere then I would and I reckon there’s plenty more in the same boat.

Why don’t you move to the existing areas of the kop and join those who are at least trying?

The only chance that has of happening is if at the start of the season the club hold a small section of the ground back from Season Ticket customers and advertise this section as a singing only section and if someone is caught not singing in it they get a ten year ban.

Just for clarity, before people get their knickers in a twist, the last part is a joke.

On a more sensible point, are the club going to move possible long term ST holders to facilitate those that want a singing section but many of them didn't bother supporting the last one, with a better view than the Kop as well.

Sadly without the club getting fully behind the idea I don’t think it’ll ever take off. Really needs a bit of a marketing push from official channels as unfortunately it just won’t reaonate from a few message board posts or tweets etc.

Get the club onboard and it might work. I’m not sure they’re interested.

No, they’re probably not and that’s just the start of the failure to do anything about it. We wouldn’t want to upset anyone in this day and age.

Sorry to resurrect a v old thread, but if you want to be in a singing section, then why not just buy tickets as close to the pre existing singing sections on the Kop? Getting involved with what already exists seems the way to go if people want to improve the atmosphere further. My normal seats on the Kop (gangway D, row JJ) had already gone for the Spurs cup match, to be honest there aren't many singers where I sit. So I've decided to try and get closer to the singers. Managed to get Gangway E Row TT (close to the gangway, didn't want any pillar issues). Starting to second guess if this will actually be any better atmosphere than my normal seats, but it can't be worse...

Best atmosphere the Lane’s had imo was when G&H block on the South is the main singing bit. Maybe its the proximity to the away fans but the Lane is a much more hostile place when those blocks are on song.

The kop was in full voice that night but every now and then I'd hear a big roar and singing from what I thought was the Liverpool fans on the away end.
Then I realised it was G & H block making the noise. Remember Houllier (the Liverpool manager) saying it was a really intimidating atmosphere that night.

It's weird.....the restrictions on the Kop might turn into an unlikely blessing in disguise as it might re invigorate the G/H block posse.
Agree it's a real bonus/advantage to our support when that area of the South stand are in full voice.

Was thinking the same RE it being a blessing in disguise actually. Would be better imo, if those who couldnt get on the back of the kop tried to get on G&H for this instead.

Might not be so good for those who dont get their ST seats though.

There were a few games in that 02/03 season where kicking towards the Lane end was just as advantageous as kicking towards the kop. The goals against Wednesday were all at that end too. Good times.

A and B are quiet but to be fair, unlike a large part of John Street, they are still breathing.

What was good? I was on the H block as someone usually on G in the KOP and the atmosphere was far worse than even a normal shit home game on the Kop. Just Wrexham fans singing and very occasionally a few hundred of us on the end making a small noise, a few thousand making a decent noise for a short while after we scored. Nothing more than that. Dread to imagine how bad it is on there for a normal game if that was good
