If this new owner is investing serious cash AND wants us to become an established EPL team, then there's only one way this will go and that's to jump onboard the EPL gravy train and get with the program i.e. changes in the way the club operates, buys players etc.
You cannot stand still and expect to compete against even the likes of Bournemouth or Brighton if you're going to be successful!

I started going to games back in '98. In that time I've seen three seasons of Premier League football. And one of those we didn't even put up a fight. Think about it. I've seen us have more seasons in the third tier than the first. I am utterly convinced that the top tier was the more enjoyable experience (bar the 100 point season, I guess).

We haven't even had a few seasons of yo-yoing. We've mostly been a mediocre to good Championship side chasing a dream.

If we get a richer owner with some money to chuck in, and if that gives us a few years in the promised land, let's talk about whether we're bored of it then, shall we?

If someone comes in and wants to change the kit colour, call us the Sheffield City Blades, then I'll join you in the car park with my pitchfork and flaming torch. Otherwise, I'll worry about anything else when it happens.

Newcastle been the perfect example, working class city, under achieving, homegrown players in squad etc
PIF comes in, guiramares, Isak, Pope, trippier, botman….

I wouldn't say Newcastle is a good example "yet".

Since the owners have been in most of their signings have been British or players already playing in England. Most of them are very astute, sensible signings - Targett, Trippier, Burn, Willock, Wood, Pope, Gordon.
The anomalies are Botman, Guimares and Isak. But it's not like they didn't spend big on foreigners before the take over...

Joelinton, Almiron, Wijnaldum, Mitrovic, Saint-Maximin etc. all expensive foreign signings made before takeover.
That's the ones that did OK. There's loads of expensive dross they've signed over the years Coloccini, Albert Luque, Hugo Viana, Papis Cisse etc.

I want all our dreams to come true but remember the Prince coming in ironically just before we played Rotherham.
Fans were running round Rotherham with gingham tea towels on their heads and proclaiming this was the making of SUFC.
We have had some great times while he's been in charge but now we're skint and in an embargo.
Let's wait and see.

They made losses of £67.2m and £53.4m in the last 2 financial years. As long as the new owner is happy to underwrite these then it’s probably what a bottom 6 to top 10 club can reasonably expect.

Happy? He’s ecstatic. He’s a Brighton fan who’s done very well for himself. He’ll eventually write it off like Leicester’s owners. Or keep building the club and eventually sell it for the kind of daft money bigger PL clubs are going for.
There’s a really good documentary posted on here yesterday about him and Benham. They’re the type of owner we need; someone with cash but a bit of knowledge of the game and modern recruitment.

I get your point but Liverpool, Man U and Chelsea have excellent academies and have academy graduates playing in their first team. We can’t just rely on our academy to produce players, we have to buy some as well. If we don’t, Hecky, Jack and McCall will be out on their arses because we lose every week.

All have billionaire owners. I wouldn't expect us to go all guns blazing, but it'd be nice to have money to improve the infrastructure of the club and if we do go up, spend like we did in the PL before without the worry of emptying the pot.

Those 18 months where we were being linked with and spending £20million + players was the most ambition I've ever seen us have and it was exciting. Give me that over scraping for a loan from a PL club any day.

It does not matter where anyone who wants to buy the club lock stock and barrel comes from.
They will know what is required if they pass the fit and proper test. they will have read all the club's info etc.
Financial developments etc. if all goes ok . This will be a massive game-changer for us.
I hope Hecky will stay as manager he is doing a great job.
Fingers crossed for once brilliant news for us Blades.

Priorities for new owner.
1. Support the achievement of promotion to PL.
2. Invest in maintaining PL status.
3. Invest in infrastructure. Academy status and improvements to academy facilities.
4. Long term implements to the ground and support facilities.

The above priorities may take 2 or 3 seasons to complete. Patience will be required from supporters. We are not very good at patience.

The STW will be interesting, as will the pre season plans of the new owner.

My personal preference would be to retain the current management team. They all have the club at heart. The new owner may have different ideas!
