Silly people being very unfair on Berge

Give the man time and everyone will be calling him a Rolls Royce again!

It's all about context and balance.
Berge is and always will be a Rolls Royce, there's no doubting he's a classy player.
What do they say? form is temporary where as class is permanent, that's why he'll always attract interest from other clubs
and you could imagine him joining a PL club, fitting in well and looking a good player at PL level.

However he's currently a Rolls Royce with occasional engine problems and an old man driving it. Berge is a giant, a man mountain but for some reason struggles with the physical game, he doesnt win as many headers he should and seems to be pushed off the ball easier than he should be, meaning he sometimes rushes his passes.

Agree the criticism is a little unfair because he's coming back from injury
but some of the criticism is down to FRUSTRATION, our fans see how big a player he could be for us.
Fortunately we have other very good players in the squad, so we don't over rely on Berge to have a good game.

He DOES regularly show moments of PL class and DOES have 20 minutes where he stands out and plays really well.
But he also (quite regularly) has games where he hardly touches the ball for 60 minutes, it's as though he's not even on the pitch, which is weird when you're a midfielder.

McAtee was exactly the same before the World Cup break but in the last 3 matches after the World Cup McAtee has stepped up his game.
It's as though McAtee has been on the weights, he looks stronger and more determined, also seems more confident.
He's growing in stature and starting to have phases where he dictates play creating chances.
Maybe Berge can learn something from McAtee's progress?

berge would be so much better if we could bring a strong physical defender in which would allow him to play further up the pitch where hes is at his best and can do more damage

In August we were nicknaming him "cheat code" and imploring the club to reject all offers.
We were all panicking and refreshing Twitter on deadline day praying he'd stay and be the difference to our automatic promotion push.

Now, after a lengthy injury and a couple of rusty games in which he's still contributed in flashes, he's shite and we should cut our losses.

Fickle stuff.

When he's on it, he's a class apart.
Let's wait until he's back to full fitness before hammering him and writing him off?

Hey you there! Yes you.

Have you heard yourself? This kind of sensible and balanced shit has no place on here. Fucking idiot.

Yep.

From his earlier form, it's fully understandable why he's gone straight back in.

Waffle waffle - scored last night - waffle waffle - Rolls Royce - waffle waffle - boo boys know nowt - waffle waffle - getting back to fitness - waffle waffle.

£20m rated players dominate at this level and stand out - see Exhibit A Iliman Ndiaye...

Berge drifts in and out and then out some more. I'm coming round to the 'not convinced' crew. But anyone thinking a Top 6 PL side will buy him, are clearly on drugs

Spot on. Unfortunately he doesn’t destroy teams every minute of every game, therefore is shit to some of our fans.

I am firmly in the “Actually he’s not shit” camp.

He's definitely not shit, and when he is up for it, he can be amazing.

But he is very frustrating - often starts strongly and looks like he's going to have a sublime game and then seems to just disappear for an hour or more.

Many is the time I have actually forgotten he is on the pitch until he suddenly has a mini golden spell again near the end, which is quite impressive in its own way for such a big lad.

I guess if he was a truly consistent, top quality player, we wouldn't still have him.

Berge is a good player and that's it. He gets a pass from many of Blades due to a long list of reasons.

Mad to me how we can see what injuries / loss of confidence did to mcburnie for like 2 years and expect someone to come back from a long lay off and dominate immediately. He’s working his way back.

For me Berge has NEVER really played like the 20m player he is when in a 2 next to Norwood. But He’s looked excelled further forward playing off the striker - to me it’s no surprise he’s not having the same impact as he did earlier in the seasons with fitness and not in his best position.

I love Berge as a player, he does stuff no one else can and whilst he can be frustrating he gives us moments every game that lead to goals either for himself or others. But I seriously think if we go up we may well decide to sell if he still wants to move on because I'm really not sure his moments of quality will be enough in the PL because we need players who are more consistent and don't drift in and out of matches. Glynn Hodges was similar in this regard but he wasn't playing centre mid and we really need more in there in the Pl, certainly someone really combative is needed and I'm not so sure whether Berge will ever have that side to his game. That's not say I want us to sell him but if we go up we'll need Berge to up his game on current shows and has he got the game for a likely relegation battle. It's whether we accept the drifting for the moments of quality he gives us or whether we have someone else, probably more workmanlike but is in the game for 90 minutes. Hopefully Berge stays and Hecky can decide on merit whether Berge plays every match or not. Maybe back in the PL Berge will raise his games, it's like he knows he can still get a start and not play at his best, it may be subconscious but I do wonder if he is too comfortable.

Berge wants to meet heckingbottoms fordringham. Is fordringham injured?

Ive watched his goal back a few times and that touch he takes before he shoots just seems to look even better every time.

Make no mistake, he's a very very good player. His main issue seems to be 90 minutes and consistency. Comes across as a passenger a lot of the time, but equally, he should be one of the first names on the team sheet.

He had minor fall outs with Bogle Norwood and Ndiaye last night who all had a pop at him for something, just get that feeling he s not putting it all in and could do more as a team player. Personally thought he had a very good first half before drifting out it the second.

Find me where I've said Berge is shit? I've always said Berge is good but not as good as many of the Blades think he is.
Looks a liability of losing the ball late on in games aawell

Over rated is what he is. clown.

Ah forgot, 3 years on and we're still waiting on Berge 'getting to full fitness'. Over rated crock. Facts.

If someone HAS to go then it's Sander Berge.

Ndiaye was angry at him for not backing him up after he had harried a defender into a blind alley and berge was stood miles away when he should have been picking up the pieces
