Hecky said we were not signing anyone last window but Anel arrived, do not always believe the spin put out by the club. I am sure that if someone we Are confident of making a profit on becomes available in the correct position we will buy.

I must have imagined Berge, Lowe and Bogle being back on the bench last week. Cold weather must be making me imagine things

That doesn't mean they won't get injured or we end up with others out. To not plan ahead would be stupid.

I'm not saying that am I?
A couple of additions in keys areas would make sense. No need to bring in 5 strikers like in the Warnock years.
I can't say I've ever been shocked that a team fighting for promotion has further strengthened their squad in January. It's quite common as you say.

i really think hecky is playing the bluffing game by saying no incomings in january he knows 2 good signings midfielder and striker and were in with a fantastic chance of automatic

I’d love to go in for Dembele from Bournmouth on loan, and swoop for Barlaser for 600k to prise him away from Rotherham a few months before his contract runs out.

That would be a pretty cheap January and give us a load more options with how we play with just two extra players.

Barlaser would be great in our side, he's one I've championed for a while. Looks great at this level every time I've seen him.
It looks like Middlesbrough are going to go for him and he's a North-East lad and may be tempted by the link-up with Carrick as he plays a similar sort of role.

Possibly right mate. I think it’d be a massive missed opportunity given his age, experience, the fact he probably lives locally and that we are short in his exact position and we are skint and he will be virtually free. To see him go to a promotion rival over the sake of a couple of hundred grand would be annoying wouldnt it.

I don't think Utd have £600k + salary (over 3 years) available in their budget - they're already overspent.

Any additions in Jan will surely be loans or shirt terms deals although with the current improv8ng health of the squad, I could imagine there being a decision to 'go with what we've got' even though I think 1 or 2 tactical additions would really boost the promotion prospects.

Barlaster is a good footballer agreed, however from what I have seen of him he is very similar in style to Norwood. If we had the budget available it's a yes but would he displace our current playmaker. We require an aggressive midfielder more urgently, Ben Pearson on loan from Bournemouth or Alex Scott from Bristol City.

With this board and the recruitment team the “three players needed” could be within budget and left of centre, just like Anel was….

Plus the English market is soo inflated. Buying cheaper foreign international experienced players that qualify for permits is a much better strategy.

I don’t see this as being a problem really. I think it’d be good to have someone to cover that position. If norwood is injured or suspended we are absolutely fucked and we would have to completely change our system and the way we play.

Also, norwood isn’t getting any younger and is pretty much priceless to us, if we can bring in Barlaser for next to nothing now it could look like unbelievable business in the next few years as a seamless replacement. Not to mention doing ourselves a favour by letting jebbison on loan to a championship club that would not only play him but could help them take points off out rivals in the run in.

If the board seriously doesn’t have 500k for a deal like this, how do they expect to give Ndaiye a new deal? It will involve a signing on fee and increased wages.

I think we have money left in the budget. At least that guess is likely to be as accurate as “they’re already overspent” .

Hope so. It is a tactic used previously to deter clubs and agents demanding top $$$.

I also hope the decision makers at the club see the benefit of adding a couple in Jan. The last time we were in such a position, Madine and Hogan really gave the squad a boost and contributed in numerous games to get the club over the line.

Striker and a LWB for me. For the latter, Stevens isn't up to it. Lowe seems to be a bit injury prone and RND is out for a while.

I think we are reasonably well covered in midfield.

Well, who knows what our budget is now?! 👀
Big news day.

For the third time, see my original post. It's not hard.
TBF you said we're "reasonably well covered in midfield". I think NWALY is asking how you've broken that down... I'd have to say they're all injury prone except Norwood (touch wood) and inconsistent.

I'm certainly in the need a central midfield camp.

If he’s asking that, then why not ask that? Not rely on another forum member to second guess what he might be asking?

Not sure why my post has come in for some Spanish Inquisition critique.
