Your 35 goal striker gets sent down 3 games from the end of the season.

90pts, the joint highest points total NOT to get promoted in Football League history and pipped in the final week by your biggest rivals.

3 play-off games, don’t concede a goal.

Penalty shoot-out in the final and the opposition miss the 1st 3 penalties.

AND WE STILL CAN'T DO IT !!!!!!!!

Signing off for a few weeks, I'm sure it's going to be an interesting Summer to say the least. Thanks to all the Blades yesterday, have a good Summer everyone :)

In the style of Chris Kamara - "unbelievable." I have to say well done to all fellow Blades who went yesterday. Despite there being empty spaces and the football on offer not being the best, compared to the morgue-like atmosphere against Burnley I thought on the whole we got behind the team.

I thought Huddersfield were louder tho, largely due to the 'clackers'. As usual Blades still filling in 5 mins after start!

Must have been hot in the east end. I was on the side, excellent view mind. Shame the result was so crap.

My mate was watching it with me and he said all signs pointed to us doing it... Clearances off the line, andy taylor on the sidelines ready to come on in et injury time, before the board went up i said its a definite penalty taker substitution if monty comes off, then the no 4 monty went up. Huddersfield missing their first three pens... We got our noses in frontI was kind of with him until he said "now all Sheffield united need to do is keep ahead of them on pens"

I just said "mate, it's Sheff united, we don't do things easy"

Hot....HOT! Was really cooking, my forehead and nose will vouch for that this morning.

We were right at the back in the shade. Wouldn't have liked to have been out in the sun for 2+ hours watching that shit.

we're like the anti matter roy of the rovers

and to top it all off.. ched to be released after appeal??

Our kid said exactly the same yesterday SP. That would definitely be the final kick in the nads while were down.

Thought we got behind the team well yesterday.

I didn't let myself think we were going to do it, until we went 3-1 up on penalties...

Gutted after the match, then managed to forget about it after going for drinks and food with some mates in Shoreditch. Got back home in Leicester at 2am and straight to bed. Woke up this morning and feel awful. How did me go on to lose from 3-1 up on penalties?

If Ched were released what's the chance of getting him? When you think of it we were so close this season which suggests we are not a million miles away. So why break up the team?

I do agree about Monty though, Jeez yesterday lad was pants as a midfielder. Don't know about Quinn. I didn't rate him yesterday - but I appreciate I am in a minority on that one. Yeah he did a lot of running about but mostly up blind alleys. Looked industrious - but so does a headless chicken till you realise it's got no head!

Both sets of supporters had huge numbers coming in after the start. We got stuck on the A1 when a bad accident closed it and spend 90 minutes sunbathing and chatting with a large number of Utd fans who were stuck as well. We arrived at Wembley at 3.15 & know of several coaches that arrived at 3.30 who were stuck in the same jam.

Here we go, and out roll the Quinn slagging brigade. Everyone including the pundits had him down as just about best player on the pitch and you didn't rate him. Only one headless chicken there I reckon!

What a bugger. Heard about the M1 one earlier in the day.

Maguire was the best player on the pitch by a mile. Awesome.

I think you will find that the inclusion of Monty and the absence of McDonald severely restricted the opportunity for Quinn to be more effective. With only Doyle looking to thread passes into Quinn whereas normally McDonald would be the main supply line to the front two, Quinn was mostly feeding off scraps or stuff he could generate himself. Tough ask in that heat.

Fair point K. Felt others didn't support him though.

Particularly sad at throw ins. Monty positively stayed 10 yards away from the thrower at least!

Monty had his usual limits but the lack of support for Quinn and Cresswell made it clear that the gameplan was to contain and hope to nick one, a la Stevenage. When Flynn went forward he was equally isolated. We were far to easy to defend against.

Was sat fairly low down (row 15) in my £64 (!) seats so it wasn't easy to get an idea of the shape of the game. Lucky for me I recorded the game so I'll be able to watch it all agan. That'll be something to look forward to...

You masochist! I did see it on Sky (highlights) at 11pm last night. We actually appeared to have more attacks than I thought at the time.

I'd actually describe the experience as the best of the POF's we have endured, but it still doesn't make it any easier.

Got to say the £44 seats high up in the corner gave an excellent view of how we shaped up. Obvious tactic to get ball into their half quickly and then try and play football in and around the box. Problem was (especially in that heat) midfielders found it difficult to get up to support and forward player(s) isolated.

Afraid Monty was a liability as was neither breaking things up , far too slow, and does not have the technical ability to play around the box.

Thought Huddersfield were poor and wasted the ball at critical times, but definitely had the better chances. However, thought Quinny possibly had the best chance of the match, but keeper saved it.

Williamson particularly dissapointing as he tried to overplay and refused to shoot when had the chance. His penalty miss . for me, summed up his performance - timid, it must have bounced twice before it reached the goal line!

i didn't think we'd win all day and was just enjoying the craic until lowtons penalty and i suddenly thought 'we can win this' and promptly got booted in the knackers :d
I was exactly the same. For the first time I thought, wow we're going up. Should have known

"I was exactly the same. For the first time I thought, wow we're going up."

Same for me here, I was watching it at a Pub and thought we were getting the rub of the Luck - finally. I actually made a couple of calls just before the penalties to friends - saying that I thought we would do it this time!

"You couldn't write the script"

Unfortunately, with United we all know the script. Third time in recent years I've bet on our imminent demise in the most important of games and won - I did think after they'd missed their first three penalties that at last I'd lose some money.

I'll pick up my winnings this week safe in the knowledge that my latest round of heartache will have been paid for (financially) by knowing United's script only too well!
