Out played they were brilliant. I thought shit, mostly but brilliant. They deserve a bit of luck after losing to our rivals. Played shit but diamond of a team. History and pride. Fuck it

and at the same time it's one of mcatee's best showings in the red n white yet he's the one who comes off. infuriating

How bad was Billy as well when he came on?

Expect a bit of quality and knowhow. Caught offside, running into trouble, giving away stupid fouls.

Not giving the manager any food for thought at all.

Still, literally nobody is surprised by this. We just seem to want to leave the door open for someone like Watford to finally get their shit together.

Win this, win Cardiff and Hudds and we're back to 2 points per game.

Need to win the next 5 to make that.

Poor tonight. Warned about complacency. So why the total lack of urgency all night? Well done Rotherham. Did the basics better and kept our better players quiet.

Just so predicable. McCall says in pre-match prezza "in normal circumstances 3 or 4 wouldn't be in the 18 we cant wait for the break to come". So for the first time i can remember we play an unchanged team. From minute 1 we looked fucked... just complete incompetent management.

Hmmmmmm...not really
Have a look from behind the goal camera angle. He did brilliant to make the chance with two defenders around him and then hit it straight at the keeper. I’m not knocking him because the whole team were below par. Bad day at the office but these things happen.

Thought it would be tough tonight, but we never got going, sloppy with the ball and poor decisions, it never felt like we were going to score tbh... We gave it a go 2nd half tbf but it just wasn't happening tonight.. Fair play to Rotherham though, no complaints and onto Cardiff and hopefully get a result to go into the break.

take nothing away from rotherham theyve been very organised & solid. we shouldve known this was going to be a tough game. ive never known them to be pushovers in of the last 10-12yrs. but that just felt a bit after lord mayors show & highs of Burnley. we could get up for the game tonight in the same way we we were poor in 1st half especially in the final 1/3. even thought we were better & we created some good chances in the 2nd half.

rotherham were up for it & at some point giving away soft goals was going to cost us. as you cant always come back like Blackpool, Norwich & Burnley. espically in a division that more unpredictable than its likely ever been

My thoughts are that Hecky is a great coach, he has shown this with the under 23s. He is a good player motivator and his post match analysis is always honest and accurate. His failing is that he is a very poor planner and tactician. I do not think he analyses the opposition in advance. He doesn't have a gameplan for most games. He chucks out a team hoping they'll sort it out themselves. I am sure this is what happened against Burnley. The players worked out their weaknesses. Too often we meet difficult organised opposition and we have no plans how to deal with it, like QPR, Brum, Luton and now Rovrum. They came with a plan and executed it. They deserved to win 2-0, looked a deff penalty to me. The subs, like so often, were baffling. Let Hecky look after the coaching, managing the players, they do respect him. Bring in a tactical mind, a match preparation team, who study the opposition and set up a plan to beat them. This is the only way forward imo. We just look so directionless at times. What was the gameplan tonight? What was our formation? Where were their weaknesses that we exploited?
And someone please tell Norwood that Beckham's golden rule was hit the target with a free kick. It doesn't have to be a worldy. Hit the target, score or collect the crumbs from a save. Blasting over the bar is just a waste of time. Make them make a save. Still optimistic, but frustrated! We have enough good players to win this league, we just need better method.

Terrible game. We lacked energy and looked shattered. Rotherham looked much more up for it and quicker in thought and deed. Started off sluggish and sloppy and just kept going. Difficult to argue with an unchanged team but it was a bit men against boys. We moved the ball so slowly across the back and our passing was careless. Midfield hardly in it. We just couldn't deal with being harried. Not even sure I'd call it pressed.

Wes - 6 - Lost the ball for an early cross but otherwise had little to do.
Stevens - 4 - Looked clumsy and slow and was very lucky not to give a pen away at the end of the first half. Poor going forward. Had a great chance to put in a couple of good cross and needs to do better.
Robinson - 5 - Looks clumsy and I thought he was going to lose possession again. Still rusty but while those Hollywood tackles may get the fans going they're easy to mess up.
Egan - 4 - Looked half asleep at times. Not sure what who was meant to be picking up Wiles for their goal but Anel was on the left and Egan just let him go. We were a mess at the back tonight and he needs to marshal it better.
Anel - 3 - Worst game for us. Was standing the other side of Egan for their goal which makes me think he left his man. Sloppy and slow all night. Looks dozy at times. He doesn't think about what to do with a ball until its at his feet. By the time he's had a touch and thought about it he has a player on him.
Baldock - 5 - Got forward a couple of times and was an outlet but was playing in odd positions tonight I have no idea why.
Fleck - 3 - Injured again but offered nothing when not injured
Norwood - 4 - Please take him off free kicks. They were woefully bad. He was poor on the ball tonight. Bad first tough and never really got hold of it. He needed to be on the ball higher up pitch. It wasn't the game for quarterbacking. Most of the throughballs he tried were over or underhit.
Osborn - 5 - Poor but at least he was up and down the pitch trying to get into positions. It's noticeable that he always busts a gut to get into the box. Just looks so awkward on the right.
Ndiaye - 3 - His worst game for us. So slow on the rare occasions he got on the ball and often shoved off it. Looked leggy and I wish he wasn't going to the world cup as looks like he needs a rest.
McBurnie - 5 - Not his night but still looked a most likely threat. Got his head on one he was unlucky with and should have scored at the end. Looks to have picked up another injury.

Subs:

McAtee - 6 - Offered little defensive cover, but looked most likely to create something going forward. Had a few good runs. Obviously not fully fit and came off again after about 60 minutes
Sharp - 4 - Not sure what he offers anymore. He fouls more than anything else now.
Basham - 5.5 - Added a bit of height coming on and we pushed forward once we made the changes.
Khadra - 6 - Had a couple of good runs when he took on his defender but also put a couple of terrible balls in.

Hecky - 5 - Hard to mark really. He played an unchanged team but it's not like there was a great amount of options with all the injuries. It's a shame Doyle is out. McAtee for Fleck is the obvious choice and we looked better with him on. Anel was terrible, Stevens wasn't much better. McAtee looked like he only had 60 minutes in him and again Khadra looked most likely to create something.

Rotherham - Fair play to them. They have a lot of injuries but they're a tall, strong and well organised unit with a few players with pace and trickery. Did a number on us. Defended really well and looked really comfortable on the ball.

Dead right
All teams can be shit, but the level of shit United can reach when they are not right is just beyond belief
It wasn't all that bad. The rubbish dished up under Blackwell, Speed, Carver and Adams in one season, was horrific by comparison.

So please enlighten me? Why do we set up the same for almost every game and why do we fail so frequently against teams who come to the Lane organised against our style of play? You agree with his tactical substitutions?
You literally said he doesn't scout the opposition which is literally bollocks.

Hard to believe it was the same team that put Burnley to the sword. A cowardly and inept performance.

Refund please.
But not hard to believe it was the same side that was awful at Bristol, Coventry & Stoke & average at West Brom 😗😗

Literally, you may be correct, but I said analyse, not scout. There is a difference. You declined to answer my points made to you. Simple to make cheap one liners, not so easy to respond to direct questions. Requires a bit of thought and logic.

Why on earth should I respond to your questions?

It's supposed to be a forum where views are discussed, I took your view on board and responded reasonably. You just seem to want to throw abuse if you don't agree with a post or poster. No worries, I'll just ignore your unqualified inane comments in future.

Listening to Heckys post match chat with RS on YT,he seems dumbfounded why we struggle to get anything from games against teams that sit in and break fast,he mentioned the QPR game again, its like his plan A fails and he tries again with plan Aa and gets same result.

Off on a tangent from the match, my Miller partner was over by the Family Stand and says she saw a Blade in a wheelchair giving it the monkey gestures to their players. 😡
Anyone see anything like this?
