My thoughts are that Hecky is a great coach, he has shown this with the under 23s. He is a good player motivator and his post match analysis is always honest and accurate. His failing is that he is a very poor planner and tactician. I do not think he analyses the opposition in advance. He doesn't have a gameplan for most games. He chucks out a team hoping they'll sort it out themselves. I am sure this is what happened against Burnley. The players worked out their weaknesses. Too often we meet difficult organised opposition and we have no plans how to deal with it, like QPR, Brum, Luton and now Rovrum. They came with a plan and executed it. They deserved to win 2-0, looked a deff penalty to me. The subs, like so often, were baffling. Let Hecky look after the coaching, managing the players, they do respect him. Bring in a tactical mind, a match preparation team, who study the opposition and set up a plan to beat them. This is the only way forward imo. We just look so directionless at times. What was the gameplan tonight? What was our formation? Where were their weaknesses that we exploited?
And someone please tell Norwood that Beckham's golden rule was hit the target with a free kick. It doesn't have to be a worldy. Hit the target, score or collect the crumbs from a save. Blasting over the bar is just a waste of time. Make them make a save. Still optimistic, but frustrated! We have enough good players to win this league, we just need better method.
