Blades 0 Man U 3 (Kidd, Aston, Law (pen))

There is a chapter in Alan Hodgkinson's autobiography devoted to how George Best scored a wonderful goal against him in this match. The problem is that George Best didnt score in this match! Strange!

Nice one SB, great reading through these posts.
Can't make out to many of the signatures....can make out Bernard Shaw, Woody, Reg Mathewson easy enough though.

Interesting feature about the new club shop, but no mention of selling replica shirts.

Question - when did the club first start selling replica shirts?

I think my parents bought me 1975-76 away shirt from Suggs. Think it was in the late 1980s when the club shop started selling replica shirts but I could be wrong as I don't often buy replica shirts

I remember I got one from Suggs, must have been around 69/70... you couldn't get them before that.. A few years earlier my Grandma bought me a ManU shirt because it was red and white(got worn once, made me feel ill) 😀.. Inbetween those 2 shirts, I got a Stoke shirt with stripes but white trim, but after a couple of washes turned pink.
Can't think when the club started selling them.

I remember Archers having a red and white shirt on display in the early 1970s but it didn't look the same as the SUFC shirt

The one I got was the same as 71 promotion shirt, but no badge or anything, can't remember the make.. That 75 shirt was popular, they must have sold a lot of those..i never really bothered buying after the early 70's one though.

Right, cheers SB... Willie was probably to busy signing a contract for Cloughie to go to Derby. 😀

Blades 1 (Hill) Leeds 0

I remember my dad telling me about this match and how well Woody played in the net also Mick Hill scored a lovely header. Blades fans were singing to the Leeds fans "You have signed the wrong Mick"

Trainer Harry Latham giving attention to Hodgy after the injury and taking off the keeper's jersey for Woody to wear it for the rest of the match

Didn’t we beat Man Utd late 60s at home?
Just remember it being a really murky day

That Leeds game, it was unbelievable for Woody to go in goal at only 21 and keep a clean sheet..fantastic.
The one thing that I remember because it was unusual back then, was they had Albert Johannson on the wing for them, must have been about the first Black player, certainly the first I'd seen...think he eventually ended up at York.

Everton 1 (Young) Blades 0

You can see 8 seconds footage of the match from below link starting from 4 mins 10 seconds. Ignore the rubbish after that, the actors who were supposed to be Blades players were wearing Stoke shirts rather than the Blades shirts!
