Hopefully he will be fit for a week on Saturday, it's a worry he keeps getting the same injury though. After watching it back last night his hamstring looks like it is heavily bandaged. It will be typical of our luck to lose him after everything else that has happened in the last month or so. It's our other options that are a worry. I'm sure that will be another thread though.

Anyway onwards and upwards.

COYRAWW AAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHH

Losing him last night didn't have too much of an effect to be honest. We had 75% possession at one point and that was with Monty on the pitch.

When K mac went off and Duracell came on, we started to use the wings more as no-one wanted to pass to him. IMO we didn't seem to struggle, we carried on playing the passing game and to some success. However we did play hoofball at times. But so does every team.

Agree with all of the above, of course we'll miss him but then again, it's the easy option when he's there just to give him the ball and we certainly moved the ball out wide a lot more in the 2nd half which ultimately won us the game.

"We're into injury time with the game locked at 0-0, Montgomery cracks it........................."

Against an Anti-Football team monty and doyle can do a job.
However against Hudds (or MK Dons) Doyle and Anti-Football himself doesnt fill me with excitement!
Any news on Cressy ?

I'm not disagreeing with you Swiss, but a team with KMc in appeals more to me then the other alternative we used last night. I'm not knocking Monty but I do think it has to be an either or with him and Doyle.

That was so noticable. He was crying for the ball but no-one was giving it him

Actually last night we looked a better side without KMac...
only because they tired toward the end just like they did a couple of weeks ago.. by then the job had been done.. monty didn't kick the ball all night so he didn't contribute anything.. oh actually he did once.. misplaced a five yard pass and they nearly scored.

I actually thought we were just not getting any joy through the middle as everytime we tried to go through to Porter, we lost the ball.

Losing KMac enabled Lowton to come forward and we could use the wings better and open up the pitch

They were also dropping back deeper and deeper which allowed Lowton to get forward more. We were probably as cautious as we've been all season in the last 2 games but it's got the job done thus far and we might have to use the same tactics a week on Satdi.

On reflection, I'd be surprised if we didn't use the same setup, but with Cresswell on the flank instead of Flynn.

A number of us said in the shoutbox that we didn't actually have a 'Plan B'... accidentally we did and fortunately it was just enough.

You're right about them dropping deep, I wouldn't expect Huddersfield or MK Dons to create so little so I'm not sure the tactics will work in the final.

I think we'd be better with Cresswell up top. The ball just sticks with him.

Anyway, apparently he's been at claremont for an ankle scan this morning

Jeez, not Cressy on the left wing again

If it's Udders, I expect it to be the same team that finished last night with Cressy coming on in the 2nd half. As I've said on another thread, whatever you say about Flynn, he does a great job for the team in tight games like last night.

Surprised to hear you say that about Flynn, thought he was lightweight and weak for big spells of the game, but managed to grow a set towards the end

I agree about the tactics but it really is needs must given the players likely to be available. Peterborough turned Udders over last year (and they were in better form than they are now) by taking the game to them but I just don't think we've got the personnel to do that.

Although the game at our place flattered them a bit, they overpowered us in that 30 minute spell and I think it's more likely that we'll go with the same kind of formation as last night.

thing about flynn is that he provides much needed balance.. Stevenage are a counter attacking outfit and we were able to contain them.. if we play the franchise or Huddersfield i think we'll have to football them to death

The thing for me is that we've now seen how good Quinn can be in that free-ish role behind a lone striker. He's been very effective.

However, I don't think DW will now drop Porter and if Cresswell is fit he has to start. Thus meaning either we put Quinn back on the left (which will restricit his freedom to roam) or Cresswell plays there and we all know (himself included) that he is simply not a left winger.

DW has some serious decisions to make between now and the 26th May.

To me it seemed very noticeable that in the 1st half pretty much everything went down our left and the end product was poor or there was no end product. In the 2nd half we spent much more time down the right where we are stronger and this produced the goal. I was largely disappointed with Flynn and I could never see him getting past his man.
