If trouble at the grounds was a reason for the decision maybe the efl will send out a directive telling clubs not to do anything to mark her passing at their next games?
There will be plenty of other ways for those who want to show respect to her passing over the next week without doing it again at the match
Maybe they won't? Mardy arses will still find something to moan about... "that was never a minute! That twat just looked at his phone and didn't cry"!.... 🤡

And I thought this thread was about our match today being postponed....There is some vitriol being displayed on individuals personal views which imo is better left at home. Each to their own et al. Nuff said!

I’m looking forward to hearing that she’s over her vast personal fortune to the public purse, because she loves us all so much.

No need to pass it on to any of her kids as they are all set up for life before they were born.
But that’s the bit I don’t really understand. Let’s say 95% of crowds up and down the country respected a minutes silence etc and 5% didn’t, then so what? What does it matter? It’s a free country.

The authorities/media etc are just worried that some negativity would go against the notion that all of the country should be in mourning.

Like I said elsewhere, as a nation we worry far too much about things like that.

We pride ourselves on diversity when it suits us but then on occasions like this we are all expected to be sheep.

We can’t have it both ways.

Had the game gone ahead today and there was a bit of booing, I’d have forgotten all about it by 3.01
There is always a narrative round these things that is to be maintained despite reality being very much the contrary.

We are all in mourning today supposedly just like we were all in floods of tears at Diana.

Royal Weddings and Jubilees are always said to be a much needed pick me up for the nation’s spirits.

In reality most people aren’t bothered and take the bank holidays to go away or to get stuff done round the house.

Personally I don’t know anyone who’s in mourning because of this. Nicholas Witchell BBC Royal correspondant stated on TV that there will be people out there “ disorientated, confused, rudderless”, I’m sure there are the streets are full of sad cases, but because of the Queens death ? What ideological hyperbolic garbage.
There were a few like that in Morrisons earlier but I think they’d just switched a few aisles around.

We do not actually need to ‘get rid’ of the monarchy.
It is not a matter of this lot or a president. (In actual fact if you look at the way some of our PMs have acted they believe that are presidents anyway.)
We simply make sure this royal house, or what is now politely or is it politically called Windsor, opt out of the vastly inflated soap opera they inhabit, give us back what is ours, take a back seat well out of the way and the limelight, behave themselves and follow the far better examples of the royal families in such backward countries as Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden.

Unlike in Spain then.

The conservation group WWF in Spain has removed King Juan Carlos as its honorary president for going on an elephant hunting trip in Botswana.

But yes our royal family are a disgrace.

"In actual fact if you look at the way some of our PMs have acted they believe that are presidents anyway"

Would that be Tony Blair perchance ?

Well, just to keep everyone happy, this is what happened at 3 pm Saturday September 10th at BDTBL.
The crowd observed a 1 minutes silence impeccably, followed by the first verse of God Save the King lead by Gary Sinclair.
The match is underway in glorious sunshine with the Blades defending the Kop, United started on the front foot and immediately created a early chance for Mcburnie which The Rotherham keeper did well turn round the post for a corner, from the Norwood corner a unmarked Egan headed just over the bar.
The first 15 minutes all belong to the Blades as the Rotherham defenders and midfield where run ragged , but apart from the early Mcburnie chance the Millers keeper had little to save.
On 18 minutes we saw great work from Doyle who beat two men only to be dragged down by a Rotherham defender just yards outside the box, this resulted in the first yellow card for the game for the Millers full back.
Norwood and Berge contrived a clever routine which resulted in a thunderous shot from Baldock which the keeper could only parry straight into the path of Mcburnie , who from 3 yards out buried it in the top corner giving the Blades stricker 4 from 4.
The capacity crowd by now where cheering the Blades on after wave after wave attacks where launched at Rotherham , if the Blades could get another it looked like been a long afternoon for the Millers.
Then on 38 minutes a strong mazey run from Illy down the right saw him burst into the box and again a Millers defender had no option but to take his feet from under him which gave the Ref no option but to point to the penalty spot and a straight red card for the Millers number 6.
Norwood took charge and placed the ball on the spot, which took bottle after missing his last couple, but not this time , bottom right corner sending the keeper the wrong way. 2 nil to the Blades .
Half time whistle came a which surely must have been a relief to the Rotherham management team , who now have to face 45 minutes of the high flying Blades.
Warne made his changes at half time bringing on 2 defenders in place of one of his strikers and a midfield player, looks like they are playing for damage limitation .
Second half started with the Millers dropping deep and getting everybody behind the ball and frustrating United with a much better defensive performance.
In return the Blades where moving the ball at pace across the pitch using both wings as the main points of attack but where hitting poor crosses into the box which the keeper was more than comfortable at collecting. The Millers by now where using the slowing down tactic and going down at the slightest touch.
On 70 minutes Heckingbottom made a double substitution bringing on Kedra and Brewster for Illy and Mcburnie.
Immediately Kedra with his tight ball control and tricky feet was causing the Millers defence trouble. it came on 76 minutes , he ghosted past the tiring Millers defenders and drilled the ball past a helpless keeper to make it 3- 0 Blades, the home crowd went wild. The players celebrating in front of the Kop.
By now the hard working 10 men Millers who had hardly mustered an attack all afternoon looked dejected and out on their feet and it was only going to get worse as the MoM Sander Berge on 84 minutes, glided yet again down the right and put a delicious ball across the 6 yard box for Rhian Brewster to slide in and make it 4 nil Blades, a score which was getting common at the Lane.
By now the Lane was rocking as a chant of “ We want 5 “ e choed around the stands with 6 minutes plus added time to go could the Blades deliver the fifth. Fourth official raises the board 8 minutes added time, this must seem a lifetime for the now weary and woeful looking Millers 10 men.
Into the added time and still the Blades where storming forward with some very intricate football but it was the very impressive Anal Ah...... who picked the ball up 30 yards out and unleashed a venomous shot which thundered into the back of the net via the back of a Millers defender. 5-0.
On 98 minutes the ref blew his whistle on yet another 5 star performance from the classy Blades who remain top of the Championship , teams will find it very difficult to move them.
Hope this fills a void for anyone missing their footy.
R. I . P Elizabeth.

I guess in a nutshell Celtic are a stain on the UK and football don't want that negativity across the media globally this weekend under the circumstances.

Public holiday coming up for the funeral. Therefore it will be held on a Friday, or a Monday, because that causes less disruption for commerce and manufacturing.
The country cannot afford to mess with banking, finance and people who make stuff!

That how important sporting events are seen to be?

Taken from www.gov.uk website.

Major events, entertainment and sports

There is no obligation to cancel or postpone events and sporting fixtures, or close entertainment venues during the National Mourning period. This is at the discretion of individual organisations. As a mark of respect, organisations might wish to consider cancelling or postponing events or closing venues on the day of the State Funeral. They are under no obligation to do so and this is entirely at the discretion of individual organisations.

If sporting fixtures or events are planned for the day of the State Funeral, organisations may want to adjust the event timings so they do not clash with the timings of the funeral service and associated processions. As a mark of respect, and in keeping with the tone of National Mourning, organisers may wish to hold a period of silence and/or play the National Anthem at the start of events or sporting fixtures, and players may wish to wear black armbands.

I think this adds some perspective to the decisions taken by the organising bodies concerned.

I would have thought it was (fairly) obvious?
Match postponed ; Media wall to wall trite shite
I’m intrigued how / why you’ve dragged yourself away from the coverage of an 86 year olds death ?
Get it right - 96.

You've been droning on about the (correct) difference between postponed and cancelled, so duty bound to call you out on this one.
