This was clearly an issue that was going to crop up though as such pressure groups are vocal and powerful. Its also the reason I think Evans will struggle to get a contract when he is released (Lee Hughes' victim doesnt have such a pressure group). These pressure groups are very powerful and will be able to influence sponsors etc. Whether it is fair or otherwise is irrlelevant, it was always going to happen.

There may be legal ramifications that have stopped us officially terminating his contract, what business is that of anyones and why should the club, in the middle of a very important time football-wise, have to justify itself?

I dont know I havent heard it but I guess it is a national news story in their domain so will be all over this. You have to think that the local radio people are being asked for background and comment on this story by national journalists. Moreover their coverage of Madine will be different as his crime will be judged differently by most people. This may or may not be fair but it is reality. My own view is that the club could have prevented all this when the verdict was announced. The chose not to (they may have valid reasons) and the consequences were inevitable.

Was this just RS or is there anything out there on't t'internet with Harry deflecting questions?
Or did they get him on to provide an opinion since the club is keeping (rightly) schtum until the appeal process has taken it's course?

Nor would I. I think he's been extremely stupid (and unlucky) but i certainly wouldn't class him in the same category as a violent rapist. Sadly, certain quarters most definitely would.

What cushy numbers? What jobs are these then? And what is Madine up for may I ask?

Someone should ask the rape call centre why so many women have been involved in the twitter opinions and naming ,or is it just neanderthal football supporting thugs who suits they their man hating adgenda. Only my opinion but most charities have paid employees on ridiculous wages for the amount of work they do.

I agree, but there is a very vindictive culture in this country towards "criminals" and especially those convicted of sexual offences. This is reflected in around 75% of the people posting on here when ever the issue comes up (I am not saying you are amongst that group). One small silver lining about the Evans case is that it may have altered some peoples' perception of "criminals" generally.

It all depends what you see as the point of the criminal justice system. I take the classic Enlightenment/utilitarian view that it's there to protect society and to rehabilitate offenders, that the amount of pain inflicted on the offender should be the minimum necessary to acheive those ends and that ideas of revenge and vindictiveness are barbaric. Other people obviously take a different view and take the old eye for an eye view.

I also don't think you can take a blanket approach towards anyone spending time in jail. Evans, for example, is highly unlikely to re-offend when he is released.

The judge doesn't know. The jury made the decision not him and yes, it was unanimous.

You could argue that Lee Hughes got a very lenient sentence for what he did, whereas Ched's can be argued to be relatively harsh. I wouldn't want Lee Hughes at my club for the sole reason that I see anyone who drives under the influence as a potential murderer. Ched was just an idiot.

As for Marlon King has been a serial offender with regards to the crime he did time for. Seems he has a dislike for women and is certainly a different gravy to likes of Evans.
