Good point, and I imagine duty is a large reason they all hold on to the royal title.
Harry has walked away from his public role as a royal, but he has chosen to move into a new limelight. If he just went to live in Doncaster with a normal lass, I'm sure the scrutiny would largely dissappear.
I totally respect your view, however I'm of the opinion that freedom, choice and luxury and we, normal people, know them are not things she wanted. I would argue that it's essential for her to separate herself, and be separated, from the lower classes in order to maintain the very system that put her there. Letting go of one means letting go of the other, as we've seen with Harry and Meghan.Whether she wanted to or not isn't the point. There were many things that she absolutely wouldn't have been able to do even if she wanted to. That isn't freedom.
Footballers do get less public attention once they retire, though admittedly they will still get stopped for pics etc. Walked past Kell Brook with his kid outside the Lane recently, he sat with the fans and managed alright. It absolutely wouldn't. There would be people following him everywhere trying to get a photo of him. That's like saying when footballers retire they get absolutely no public attention.

While QE was born into that 'system', there were hundreds of choices, decisions and opportunities to do things differently.
Up to and including? The government has stated this morning the games can go on up to the EFL
I agree, but you're looking at it through your own eyes. But again, it's not about what she wanted it's about what she was allowed to do. She absolutely wasn't allowed to do many of things that us 'normal people' can do.
As I said, her life and the things she was required to do as the Queen, regardless of whether she actually wanted to do them, wasn't my idea of luxury.

That is exactly my point! No it isn't. Not being able to afford to do something isn't anywhere near the same as not being allowed to do something.
I agree, but you're looking at it through your own eyes.
If you think there were many things she wanted to do but couldn't, I would highlight that there are a million things she did that you and I couldn't, whether you wanted to or not.
I do now understand where you're coming, but we're almost talking about her as if she was a prisoner.
I really hope the game goes ahead.
If it does, I'd urge everyone in attendance to show a bit of decorum and observe the minutes silence.
I'm not a royalist myself, I might even just wait at the back of the kop until the game kicks off.
I'll call it now, it won't happen (if the game goes ahead). People seem to be incapable of silences these days and it always turns into applause.
Not to mention the 30000 making the journey to Plymouth. How long does this take there are probably hundreds if not up to 1000 Sunderland fans waiting to go to Millwall for tomorrow's match not to mention the rest of them making plans for tomorrow
That is exactly my point!
So your contention that the fact the queen couldn’t pop to Tesco’s or down the pub is not, in any way, a restriction of freedom when compared with the restrictions imposed by, say, poverty. My point is I think you are using the term freedom too casually. Some people could afford to build their own supermarket and pub if they really wanted it (Ed Sheeran I believe built his own pub on his estate!). Freedom is about the amount of choices and options that are on offer to you, not about the things you can’t do. The way of the world is wealth and privilege opens up choices and options, it doesn’t restrict them

That isn't what I've said, you're ignoring the very point I've just made. I've no idea what she wanted to do but you cannot deny there are things she absolutely couldn't do whether she wanted to or not. We have a choice in what we do with our lives, for a large part she didn't.
I'm not at all talking about her as if she was a prisoner, I haven't even suggested that. I'm saying her life wasn't my idea of luxury.
Yes didn't realise the piggies are at Plymouth because I just have no interest in themNot to mention the 30000 making the journey to Plymouth.
If you're saying she didn't have the choice to become Queen, or fulfil the duties and responsibilities that brings with it, a) she did and b) neither did you or I. She was absolutely unanswerable to anyone. Who would she have been disobeying had she made a different choice? If it's implied that she was dictated to, I certainly disagree with that.
Having restricted freedom and choice makes someone a prisoner. If that's true for her, then aren't we all living lives limited by choices and permissions? I'm not sure why that's something to be sympathetic about, especially as she was absolutely on the end of the stick without shit on it.
They managed fine at the Man U game yesterday
Let's face it, there's nothing to make a noise about at Man' United games Lol
