At a comfortable point in the game, we could have....

Had Brewster up and running
Got a 2nd goal for Ndiaye
Got a 2nd goal for Berge

These players are all assets and/or attackers, and we should be trying to get them on as many goals as possible

That's in addition to them all actually being better bets from pens than Norwood

But no. Respect the senior player...... must respect the senior player..... doesn't matter what his recent pens have been like

Wasn't a bad penalty to be honest just an excellent save made easier by the fact Norwood goes the same way every time.

Norwood has been a good penalty taker for us. He earnt it, he had good record, that's all. Now he's missed two. It happens. Someone else gets a chance....

We had a shootout recently and both Berge and N'Diaye scored.

Norwood missed.

Where was the logic in Norwood taking it? He missed one against Hull on debut in a shootout, I seem to recall he's missed one in a game too and the one at Forest so that's three misses already and today four. I know he had a bit of a run at Fulham but he's not been a great taker with us.

Best taker is probably Osborn, he tends to go hard and right to the corners.

Sharp would normally take. I think he's got better as time has gone on. He was off the field and so was Osborn but wouldn't you go to Berge especially who has taken 3 I think and scored them all, Liverpool away, Burnley Cup game and Forest shootout. Could be more.

I'd get Sander on pens and then, though it is a small population N'Diaye, all if Billy is not on the field.

Would have made for quite an entertaining half if we had gone in 3-0. As it was there was just that element of don't mess this up which stopped is getting much fluency.

I mean fair play for Norwood stepping up having missed the last one but surely duties go to someone else now?

I'm hoping that we replace Norwood & Fleck with Berge & Doyle eventually.
Think it will give us so much more fluidity and line breaking. By all accounts, Doyle has an impressive passing range which should cover for the loss of Norwood.

I dont know why, but I have this horrid feeling Doyle will not be fit this season, hope I'm wrong!

Without scouring the records I think its something like;

Scored 2 in the league, 1 quite unconvincing
Missed 2 in shootouts
Now missed 2 in the league

Brewster won that penalty entirely through his own skill & effort.
He should have grabbed the ball + told Norwood to fuck off.
Same with Berge - when we get a corner , instead of letting Fleck or Norwood hit the first defender for the umpteenth time , Berge should grab the ball + say this one's mine.
If Hecky wants to keep picking the old guard , the younger £20m lads need to have the bollox to assert themselves.

Good 30 minutes, poor after that today. Both him and Fleck struggled to get near the Millwall midfield from 45-75 and we were forced back. Osborn came on and despite his limitations his energy broke their momentum and we coasted.

Hecky has brought in some younger , quicker midfield talent in the shape of Doyle , Coulibaly , Khadra & McAtee , to add to Osborne , Berge & Ndiaye. That's 7 players who can potentially create moves at a pace to break through the opposition lines.
I keep praying he's recognised that the slowness of our transition play under the "Norwood Walking Quarterback" system creates almost no threat.
When we lost the initiative after halftime , the answer was not to change the strikers !
Can Hecky not perceive when our midfield is losing the battle ?
Surely the change should have been Khadra on to keep the ball + run at their defence (or Osborne , as he did 5 mins later).
Khadra & McAtee would have been very disappointed not to get on the pitch in that drab second half.
Come on Hecky , you've recruited to phase out the old guard - at least give one of the recruits a chance when 2-0 up + needing to take back the initiative !
