I can’t wait for him to go. The last of the technically minded players.

Next season mantra.

“ just fookin boot it up pitch”
“ non of that fancy tippy tappy crap”

We’ve gone from a progressive club with Wilder back to the 1980s wi Hecky.
Bull shit , what makes you say that?

He'll stay now, he can get Erling to live in his spare room to save on living costs and he only has to nip across the hill to work every day.

MGW has gone back. Great with the ball and creates
Berge beat on the ball and can move forward which creates chances.
If he does go who do we have that is comfortable on the ball?

Just in case I did say “I can’t wait for him to go” as a joke.

We need to build with players like Berge and with MGW gone I do feel we are left with players who prefer to pass side to side, backwards and don’t like running with the ball.

For a nation who always qualifies I understand Nation League matches seem as unimportant as friendlies. England are always ranked top and usually qualify through the normal qualification.

For nations like Norway, not been in a tournament since 2000, the nation league offers another path to qualification. Not only that, all results count in the FIFA ranking, which could see us get a easier qualifying group. Typical for Norway is that we get seeded third, and have to face two teams who are generally considered better. Two defeats saw us finish below Holland and Turkey the last time, another failure. In short, these games are not unimportant to Norway.

Berge started 22 league games last season. There are many players who've had more exhausting seasons. He played twice for Norway in March, his first international involvements since 2020, and Solbakken seems determined to make him an important player now that he's fit. I think Berge really enjoys being part of the national side and physically he's seemed up for it.
He featured in 25 from the last 28 after a bad injury and just my view, but what he needed was a good rest after an intensive stint of football following a long lay off. He's going to get about two weeks off before preseason training starts or he's going to be given extra time off, which is going to disrupt United's preparation.

I don't deny he probably likes playing with a hanging around with Håland, they seem good friends from the multiple photos that get posted but as you can imagine, my primary interest is United and we pay his wages. It's nothing against Norway, I also think the same with Egan, who has picked up a knock (just what we need!) Having played 3 games in 8 days on the back of not missing a match all season.

I personally find international friendlies a nuisance and the Nation's League has just been an attempt to legitimise the friendlies more instead of reducing the amount of meaningless non-tournament games which players play. It devalues the meaning of winning a cap for your country and it along with the ridiculously expanded Champions League is the true reason players end up playing too many matches.

I think it is slightly different for N'Diaye who had a decent break in the middle and just played a handful of successive games. Baldock is probably similar in that he didn't have much of a run at the end so it can be case by case.

I can appreciate the Nations League can make up for not qualifying directly and you do seem to be in that viscious circle where you are in the middle and have to beat established teams to establish yourselves.

Most United fans are pro Norway after the 90s with Flo and Nilsen and I do wish you well. I just feel Solbakken has done United no favours this past month yet he'll be the first to come asking for Berge to be released for key matches once the season starts. It should be give and take.

It's a disadvantage when signing internationals, they may be picked for their countries at inconvenient times. Berge is just one of them though. Haaland also had injuries this season, made 24 starts for Dortmund and started all four of these Norway games. Ødegaard started 32 games for Arsenal, also started all four NL games. Mitrovic started three of the four Serbia games, following 44 league starts for Fulham. Swedish Isak also started three of four NL games.

From clubs' perspective it may not seem optimal, but there can be things to gain from playing international football. Maybe a boost in terms of general happiness, motivation, some tactical learning, inspiration from teammates and staff, it doesn't have to mean Berge or Sheffield United will suffer from this.

All jokes aside, this actually a really good point and something that may work in our favour in terms of keeping him!

Other than Everton (proximity to Cheshire, where Haaland will probably be living) or Leeds (Alf-Inge might be in his ear) we're the best placed team to be close to his mate and also play at a decent level.

Might not be a factor, but equally it might be

When Sander comes home early one day and finds Haaland banging the shit out of Mrs Beige with the radio playing Norwegian Wood ,Berge will just say fair play Erling and have a vape in the garden to cool himself down a bit catching his lovely complexion in the bi fold windows on the way out.

Lovely images. Just lovely. I felt like I was actually there.

Surely Man U are nearer !

Rumours on the street that we're after Berge if we don't get Gibbs-White. Be good for squad cover but I don't see him getting in the team over Johnson.

We know that you are on your arse financially too so £8m take it or leave it...
Strange bloke

Aye
I’ll bow to your superior knowledge given I’ve only seen Johnson about six times & didn’t realise that he & Berge share identical attributes, play in the same position & fulfil identical roles.

You really are back where you belong - chatting shite

PS & I fuckin hate your stupid biscuits - currants wi a cup o tea is just plain wrong !

Don't give up the day job fella. Keep the stand up comedy as a hobby.

Hope the materials just as fresh in January when you've been pumped more times than Jordan.

You know what was hilarious. The amount of my notts forest mates who didn’t bother with supporting the team, didn’t ever discuss notts forest and seemed more interested in the PL than their own before Cooper came (live in nottingham)

Now there’s tossers coming on other teams forums spouting off about how they’ll buy another team’s assets for nothing.

Notts forest are a glory team - living on past glories, and only come out the woodwork when there is success. Suddenly market square’s rammed after your only taste of it in 20 years

Explains why you only manage average 25k attendance in a promotion season, despite being pretty much a one club city similar size to Sheffield!
