David McGoldrick

Love Didzy. But if the mantra is to bring on youth, then this is the type of decision you make. You can occasionally make exceptions e.g. Sharp was still top scorer, is club captain and heavily contributed.

But we have N’Diaye, Brewster, Jebbison, Osula and Lankshear. If you want these lads to develop then some of the older ones need to get out of the way.

Look at N’Diaye. He developed tremendously with a run of games. If Didzy had been fit, then would he have got his chance?

Low risk signing for Wilder, though another squad spot filled and wage added. Wish him well. But not in line with giving these lads, who are talented in their own right, a pathway.

Does anyone have a league 1 guide for next season that's were we are heading, can't even get a stray cat through the door and let didzy leave. Joke of South Yorkshire now in my eyes

Not while we have our neighbours in S6, with their rusting shit heap of a ground, book fiddling and getting caught, points deduction, and all their deluded fans, many still waiting for the season ticket money back.

We might not be perfect, but one look across the city will tell you who the big fucking joke around here is.

But you already knew that, surely.............

I don’t know why people are worried. If Wilder is putting all his promotion eggs in the Didsy basket, I think we have little to fear. If he’s not, then it’s unlikely he’ll get into any rhythm to make an impact.

He’s wilders Clayton Donaldson for Middlesbrough, experienced head, good character and will probably feature in games here or there. GLTTL. Great servant for the club and at times his close control and ability to bring others into the games was joy to behold. In front of goal not as lethal as he should have been. No doubt he’ll help Middlesbrough take a step closer to playoffs, but he has to stay fit.

You are bang on but at what point do we become a youth team ?

It really should be as simple as is Didzy good enough to play for us , yes he would be our best forward when he is fit

The decision is even more baffling when we know MGW is going + Berge who is likely going which leaves us with one reliable striker Sharp who his self is 38 and has just been injured.

McGoldrick on his day is one of the best forwards in the league that's a FACT , to let him go is baffling especially with the current squad

Yes mate that’s exactly what he’s doing, all Wilders and Boro’s hopes for promotion are on 34 year old David McGoldricks shoulders. Promotion or bust with their new block buster signing, jeez….. can people not just understand what he will bring to Boro? On no doubt vastly reduced wages or even a pay as you play deal, he brings real quality to a team when he’s fit and tons of experience, even if just a squad player to come off the bench he will do a good job for them. He could certainly have done a job this season for us even as a squad player he will have come in handy and helped the young lads. I have seen people say Hecky helped turn around Brewster and got him playing better, wrong, it was McGoldrick who was basically coaching him at every opportunity after taking him under his wing, ask anyone at the club and they will tell you. He will be missed this season that is for sure.

Forwards score goals, that is a fact. He did not score many, another fact!

I suppose we find out when the window closes.

I don't disagree with you especially on the MGW point of view. If we come the end of the window and we haven't properly replaced him and Sander has also gone then we'll be asking why we didn't keep McGoldrick as he could play in a number 10 or support striker role.

It's like sacking a manager. It may make sense the current guy leaving but depends on who is coming in. There were arguments Neil Warnock's time had come but if we knew Robson was the alternative I don't know many who wouldn't have stuck with Warnock.

Unfortunately we're not we'll run like Liverpool. Mane moves out but only in the knowledge his replacement has already arrived. We tend to figure it out, procrastinate, not spend and then the money just gets absorbed in club running costs.

Billy is 36 until February by the way, but I know this is a continuous theme you have going!

So you agree that he won’t play much and it won’t be an issue for us?

I think the issue for Didzy will be that it's well known one of the reasons he was plagued by injury at Ipswich was the travelling from where his family live in Nottingham and obviously when he played for us that was better for him.

Not sure how that will effect his decision if he's having to travel to Middlesbrough from Nottingham.

One of the problems with his injuries while at Ipswich was him insisting on living in Nottingham and travelling to Ipswich If he goes to Middlesborough the same thing will happen

Billy may be 36 but that's still a few years older than McGoldrick if Billy can still perform the McGoldrick definitely can

I'm all for moving on past it 30+ has beens but when you move on a player like McGoldrick your gonna be looking a long time for a player as good as him

I just find it a very strange decision that we didn't even offer him a one-year contract on recued terms

Because he was injured and for some baffling reason Slav didn't play him at the start of the season
I think the fact he was injured and likely to pick up more as he ages is the big influencer on letting him go.

IF we can replace with a younger player(s) and have more available to us (think of the number of unavailable injured players last season) especially with increased subs allowed, surely this improves us?

So you agree that he won’t play much and it won’t be an issue for us?
No I don’t agree, because I don’t know, he may play every game for all I know, injury permitting I’d expect him to play a lot of games either starting or from the bench. Why would it be an issue for us? He scores the goal in the play offs against us or something? Stranger things have happened but I’d expect he does a good enough job to help in some way in helping getting Boro in the play offs at least. Is that an issue for us, no because they will be there or there abouts with or without him imo. The bigger questions is could he have played a part in getting us in the play offs, imo yes he could have.

It’s been written in the script. Didzy scores the winning goal in the playoffs final against…Guess who?
