So, the regular season has come to an end and it's time for a final update to the graphs.

Graph 1 is new, and plots our league position over the season. The reason that I have put this in is that I think that it emphasizes (more than points) the immediate and continuing positive impact that Hecky, Jack and Stuart had on the team.

Graphs 2 & 3 are then my usual plots of our points progress. Those of you who have followed my graphs will know that I created 2 benchmark sets of results in November, when Hecky took over, which would achieve 2 different objectives:-

a chance of the playoffs (71 points);
almost certain playoff achievement (78 points).

Graph 2
shows that, after our brilliant start under Hecky, we were well clear of a playoff-bound record, and at one time threatened automatics. We then fell below "playoffs certain" to borderline "playoffs possible" before finally climbing back comfortably between the two.

Graph 3 compares this season with the 2 Wilder seasons (10th and 2nd) in the Championship. When Hecky took over we were 11 and 14 points behind Wilder's 2 seasons. He brought us to the finishing line on 75 points (almost midway between Wilder's 69 and 89).

My final picture is just a big thank you to H, J & SM. I think our 3 amigos have earned everybody's respect.

I’m realistic enough to admit I would have seriously questioned a decision to give him the job at the start of the season. I would have also been utterly wrong. If this management team had been in place from last August, I’m confident we would have gathered at least a dozen more points and been touching automatic promotion places. Having said that, Slav’s decision to bring in MGW was a master stroke, we can’t discount that.

It'll be really interesting to see what Hecky would do with a transfer window, if he actually had money to spend. Who are his signings so far - is it just Goode, Adam Davies and Uremovic? All of whom were decent loans given the circumstances.

I think he'd be a lot wiser with our moola than Chrissy. A few hidden foreign gems and what not.

I think so. I’m a fan of Uremovic. I’d definitely support taking him on if circumstances allowed.

If Hecky had been given the job from the start of the season based on his points per game we’d have gone up in 2nd place with 89 points but like most fans we’d have slated the board for going for the cheap option (me included) it just goes to show how much I know!

I've been wondering if we should count NDiaye as a hidden foreign gem that we should give Wilder more credit for? Also with the way Berge has been playing lately. Was it worth putting up with Burke, McBurnie, the Freeman (L) and Robinson (C) debacles when we've now got on our books Berge, NDiaye who have been outstanding lately, Brewster who was starting to look a real prospect at last, Bogle who was starting to look unplayable up til his injury... Wilder signed 9 of the 11 who started on Saturday. Perhaps that's sort of by default as no-one's been given any cash to spend since he left but nonetheless that was overwhelmingly a Wilder side that just ripped the runaway champions a new one.

That said, if we go up we've again got the scenario of a manager who's relatively inexperienced at the top level who's never had much money to spend suddenly finding himself shopping in the 8-figures-and-up department. If it does happen let's hope it doesn't go to his head

Regarding ndiaye I think he was signed for the u23s not sure who sees to signing for them seeing as hecky was there manager and presume he cost nothing or next to nothing. All I can say is that hecky has a way of seeing potential in youngens and seems to be a brill motivator and he has the gift of hindsight ie not doing a wilder.

Don't get me wrong his signings up to the big money ones were spot on and are the spine of who we are today
Berge brewster and bogle bar brewsters price are good signings imo could see brewster kicking on till the injury and bogle is a beast and our yaya is phenomenal

No coincidence that Brewster started banging them in and showing his potential following Hecky coming in.

My understanding is that it was Slav who wanted Ndaiye in the first team squad and insisted that the contract impasse, which it was reported was meaning he was not being allowed to play, was sorted and he was given a contract. He then made his debut against Peterborough.
Not sure who was responsible for blocking the contract in the first place. It seems unlikely it was Hecky.
