The queue at Specsavers?I counted 3 times the ball went out and the linesman never gave it. Where the fuck do they get these cunts from?

Neither got me as animated as my Top 3.No honorable mention for Graham Poll or whoever refused to send off Chris Kirkland at Anfield for deciding he'd just pick the ball up and stop the game?![]()
Rob Styles. The last time I saw a ref explain himself was the Gerrard pen in the opening game in 06. Andy Durso?
I still don't want VAR. The fact is that is the ref and lino can't between them see that's a penalty, there's something seriously wrong.I was delighted that we didn't have to suffer anymore VAR in this league but decisions like that make me feel otherwise. It's the marginal offside decisions that ruin VAR though, overall I'd still prefer no VAR but obviously we'd have a pen with it today.
The cheating cunt's got form. Absolute shithouser. There were two occasions where Smith went down very easily. The one where Fleck did the dive gestures and another where MGW walked up to the ref and stood next to the player and clearly said 'he dived again'
Yes I also noticed that. All of the 4 officials did a shit job todayOn st least one occasion the lino’s view was blocked by Parker and his assistants stood outside their technical area. The assistant ref should have given him a warning.
sounds really interesting. I d love to read that thread. Start it please.I could write a book about my disciplinary hearings. The best one was when I had to explain to the Trust Director and the Head of HR what Hector's House and Ivor The Engine were. And how that led to a disciplinary is an entire thread on its own.
Please don'tsounds really interesting. I d love to read that thread. Start it please.

Please don't
If the ref couldn't see it properly he should consult with the lines man. Its what their there for. Todays ref has got to have known something had happened that he'd obviously missed by the reaction of almost all of the crowd + and the players, to not even ask the lino is crap. No excuse imo. Utter utter crap ref...bordering on dodgey at times I thought to myself at timesWith the amount of faking and deceit that goes on every game it doesn't make it easy for them. Ive seen our players do it just as much as others, rolling around like twats because they lost the ball and desperate for something. The pen was fairly obvious in slowmo and on a clear TV angle but clearly not as easy real time on a crowded pitch otherwise it would have been given. Its a case of the boy who cried wolf unfortunately, IMO players are as much to blame as the refs
The only grief he got was from Parker. Parker intimidated him from the first few minutes when he should have handed out a yellow. Instead he allowed Bournemouth players to dive giving them freekicks when touched. The so called ref was a coward , Parker had him in his back pocket.I sometimes wonder if giving the ref a lot of grief in the game is counterproductive.
With tight calls like that one, he made the wrong call by maybe not wanting to appear influenced by the crowd.
But in this case all he did was confirm the sentiment of “you’re not fit to referee”.
They changed the linesmans job title to Assistant referee quite a few years ago.Like it or not but if VAR operated in the Championship this season we would be in the top two. I still can't believe what I saw this afternoon the standards of referees has dropped to an all-time low and the linesmen/women are little better. With VAR in the premier league line officials have become virtually redundant and are only there for show they are no help to the ref who relies on someone watching a screen miles away. The ref at championship level gets pretty much the same assistance from the line (next to zero) but no help from VAR instead of working together three of the four officials are there for show and a back up in case of injury. We should go back to the days where a lino waves the flag when an offence occurs rather than waiting until the ball goes out of play. Why is it always us who gets the shit end of the stick when a ref makes a monumental fuck up.
There’s an Undr the Cosh episode with Jeff Winter where he answers this question quite well. He says something along the lines of that a ref would only get interviewed if the cameras knew they’d fucked up and therefore they’re up against it straight away. Why are refs not interviewed straight after a game like managers and players? I'd love to hear him explain how and why that was not a penalty. Yet managers and players have a mic and cam shoved in thier faces why not the referees?
UTB

I don’t agree that they get away with shit performances like today but at the same time they wouldn’t gain much by saying “from my view it wasn’t a penalty” when it blatantly was.
It was a decent episode, he’s full of himself though. Exactly what I’d expect from him.Off subject, but the recent episode with Jeff Winter is their best ever episode imo. Much better insight into the game and he's a very funny bloke.
It’s no good letting the ref say “from my view it wasn’t a penalty “. The question to the ref SHOULD be …. “please explain what you saw” If he then answers “from MY VIEW It wasn’t a penalty “ then the next question should be “then why didn’t you consult your assistant referee ?”There’s an Undr the Cosh episode with Jeff Winter where he answers this question quite well. Fixed this for you BML…Referees need to be held to account more. When it's as blatant as today they should be fined.
I agree, but the point that was made was that they are only going to be asked if they have made a mistake. It’s no good letting the ref say “from my view it wasn’t a penalty “. I must have just watched it about 20 times. Honestly cannot remember a more clear-cut, stonewall penalty not being given in my 28 years of going. It's utterly incomprehensible to think that any official could see that and not give a penalty. It was a stone waller. Terrible decision by that ref.
Put your conspiracy hat on.Esteemed Forgeblade has been saying for years that there's a level of corruption, and I've consistently disagreed. Over the past couple of years I get where he's coming from. Today isn't a one-off, I've tried to be as objective as I can, but there are bad refs who are just crap, lose control and make poor decisions for both teams. Then there are refs who appear to give decisions in a very one-sided way with no logic. Today's ref was one of those. As today's opposition manager is something of a cockney spiv, it does make you think.
