This season, the amount of minutes he’s played in all competitions comes to about 12 games worth of minutes. He’s scored 8 in that time
Isn’t this part of preparing him? It’s taken a few months to find his feet properly at Burton whilst getting a decent amount of minutes. If he had needed a similar amount of time here to kick on he wouldn’t have got it just because of the number of strikers we have. We’d have done what we have done rotated until we found a combination that worked which odds on would’ve still been the experienced two of Billy and Didzy who don’t need development time. And then at the start of next season, when we potentially will be without BS, Didz, Burke and Moose and still burdened by clown #1 and clown #2, have no money and will be crying out for a championship level forward, we can pat each other on the back, safe on the knowledge we have a lad on the books, who despite showing anyone with two working eyes that he could handle his own at PL level a year and a half previously, we sent to Burton for a season, when he could’ve utilised him at championship level and prepared him.
If and when he leaves, his career arc will that of DCL, steep and impressive, and will leave us wondering why we wasted a season of him at Burton. It’s like Lewis Hamilton being forced to be a taxi driver.

He is improving and developing so from that point of view it’s a good decision in terms of improving him as a player. If we sell him in the summer without him playing here first then that’s clearly atrocious management of the club and it’s resources but I’m not saying it won’t happen. But that decision will be made by a completely different person to the one who decided to send him on loan. Having the best possible version of Daniel Jebbison is in the best interest of the club and I think we’ve taken steps to develop that version of him. Keeping the best version of Daniel Jebbison at the club well that responsibility will fall on a different set of shoulders and I like you am not sure they’re up to the task.
I think it was right to get him football which he clearly needed up until this point. I’d leave him there unless a sufficiently large number of strikers is cleared off the books to make space for him to consistently be in the match day squad here.
Can’t see it happening considering the fact jebbo chose burton over Sunderland
he could handle his own at PL level a year and a half previously,
No he didnt
He was not ready for the Championship never mind the PL
He may be ready for the Championship next season but a season in L1 will do him the world of good finding his feet in mens football and having confidence in his goalscoring ability
Completely agree. He didn't hold his own in the PL at all, the hype on this one seems very unwarranted & generated (in my opinion) by the fact we were desperate for anything positive to happen during that dire last season in the Prem.
To me, he looked gangly, raw & with a poor first touch. Tall? Yes. But very much a boy amongst men.
This season is doing him the world of good, but he's not got his first XI shirt nailed down at a midtable League 1 club.
The lads learning his trade, in order to do so he needs to be playing games. He's a much better chance of doing that there than here where we're already well overstocked in that area.
Did I mention January anywhere ?So you are saying is that in January he will be sold and all the money will not go to SUFC but to the parent organisation? How will that show on the accounts? Based on what is the suggestion founded?
Ok. When we going to sell him? Time will tell my friend you said. How long do we have to wait till you say I told you so?Did I mention January anywhere ?
Overstocked?! We’ve got Billy & Didz and a pile of varying textures of shit.
He’s that overhyped that all the biggest teams in this country & Europe are sending scouts to watch him.
He started on Saturday, and scored. He's on Burton Albion's bench...

I think Burton are selling a striker who he has been interchanging with so suspect they are wanting him to start a lot more. He's been in & out then. It doesn't alter the wider point. If the lads got a battle on his hands for a shirt at Burton then he's unlikely to be in the frame for us, never mind the top sides in Europe..
His development is better served regaining that starting shirt, getting minutes under his belt and if he manages to bag 15-20 goals across the season then we bring him back in the Summer for a proper look in pre-season.
Or we sell him if a decent offer comes in...
More in than out. He’s their top scorer and is in great form (8 in his last 12 in all competitions). He's been in & out then. It doesn't alter the wider point. A new DeanoI can't claim to have done any scientific research into Jebbo's goals but, from memory a lot of them seem to be close range "fox in the box", scramble over the line stuff. He seems to have the knack of being in the right place at the right time. Maybe he will be the perfect replacement for Billy Sharp?
Never been called a plum before, but anyway - let's wait & see on Jebbison. I think we were all looking for something to cling onto after a very dismal season & hyped him up a little bit too much. His performances were what I'd expect of a very young lad thrown in at the deep end. He's only 17 years old so has time on his hands. A loan to the Conference / League 2 for half a season wouldn't hurt his development. Pretty sure that's where DCL & Billy Sharp went to cut their cloth.

They're looking at him as a low risk gamble. Somebody with raw attributes that may mean they have a shot at making it. Someone they may be able to spend £5m on & develop over a couple of years.
If you think any of the top clubs in Europe are considering signing him & throwing him into their first team squads then you're deluded. He's on Burton Albion's bench...
He has potential, but he's miles off what we need right now. And yes, he's further away than Brewster, McBurnie, Mousset, Sharp & McGoldrick who all have more pedigree in the men's game at a higher level.
Ha ha you know its going to happen don't youOk. When we going to sell him? Time will tell my friend you said. How long do we have to wait till you say I told you so?
When though. Tell me. Ive been waiting 6 years for us to sell a young prospect and 8 years since the board rather than the manager did it. So come on, whens it going to happen.Ha ha you know its going to happen don't you![]()
Just succumb to the powers of United World
Everton , Newcastle , come on down !!
So SUFC are wankers for allowing DJ to turn out for a 3rd tier side yet a Bundesliga are going to lash out ? hundred thousand / million to play in the German 3rd or 4th ?You’re twisting my words, old boy. I don’t for one instance think that he’d be in the 1st team squad for a top European side.
I was using the fact that he is highly rated & being scouted by that level of team to show that he isn’t just ‘hype’.
He’s a better player than DCL at a similar age & stage and look at how Everton used him.
Also look at how Bundesliga teams blood young players. There’s plenty of 18 yr and 19 yr old players playing for the 2nd teams (3rd or 4th tiers) and also featuring as subs for the 1st team, such as Tibidi or Motika.

I can see the Bayern fan sites going into terminal meltdown
Can see both sides of the argument really. I think it's worth reminding ourselves that what's best for Jebbison and what's best for the club are potentially different things.
I think from DJ's point of view, the loan to Burton creates a little more stability, and makes his development a little more linear. Playing under less pressure, with less competition, against worse opposition and with a liklehood of more games
From the club's point of view, keeping him around would have given us more options, as he offers something different to the other forwards. It would have also aided his development to play against better opposition, assuming he got enough minutes.
Of course, things could have worked out differently: he could have stayed, grasped a chance early on, and be 6 in 16 at championship level, leaving both him and us in a better position. Equally, he could have stayed around, failed to make an impact and be playing U23 football, stalling his development - in which case nobody wins.
As it turns out; he's at Burton, doing well and developing along nicely. I imagine we'll still be in the championship next season, and he'll be coming off a good season at league 1 level, ready to step up. Not sure there's too much need for a big debate.
