I got pulled and searched at Barnsley. The copper said 'the dog has had an adverse reaction to you. Can you explain that'
I said yes 'I said hello to it and it wagged its tail'
'We think you might be taking pyrotechnics into the ground'. 'Are you taking pyrotechnics into the ground'
'No'
'In that case, it must be drugs', are you taking drugs into the ground'
'No'
'Well I think you're lying, how do you explain the dog's reaction'.
'Its a cocker spaniel, I've got a cocker spaniel, perhaps it can smell it'
'There not trained to react to the smells of other dogs'
'Its wagged it's tail FFS'
'Over there, Sir, for a full search'

Well my lads thought it was amusing as they did at Manchester City and Wolves a couple of years ago.

'
A 6 finger search could be quite interesting.

Does your (“in England”) multi cultural/ multi lingual enterprise employ anyone of say a differing point of view (perhaps) informed by their knowledge, understanding or (even) experience of (their) history?

Your understanding may be assisted by researching how / why (some) folk of (say) Irish or Iraqi or Afghan descent are “offended” (& more) by symbolism directly associated with the poppy irrespective of the 11th hour of the 11 day and (differing) interpretations of ‘freedom’ & ‘oppression’.

Alternatively / additionally you could consider exploring how respected (or as you term it “not offended’) (some of) those with links to the ‘Commonwealth’ (Empire) feel surrounding (lack of) recognition of their ancestors ultimate sacrifice that doesn’t even warrant an (individual) headstone.

(Perhaps) more contentious may be a consideration of how (any) German colleagues view ‘the fallen’.

NOT meant as a ‘dig’ & fully anticipating (some ?) furious reaction , but you have chosen to invite a response by ‘putting it out there’
If you anticipated a furious reaction to your post, then here it is. Far too many brackets. Disgraceful.

It's an interesting point, I'm keen not to generalize and stand accused of bigotry but the dividing lines are surprising. The Muslim members of the centre, are generally happy to conform and observe, when I've talked to them, they simply want to integrate, avoid controversy and respect what indigenous British people generally support.

Ironically (?) the Germans in the team, are so haunted by ''war guilt cause'', they're the most active participants, as are the Polish. Germans are educated from an early age (arguably too early) about the horrors of the 30s and to learn and respect from history. In fact they live in fear of history and are willing to do anything to celebrate the freedoms secured and reject the tyranny that threatened democracy.

The groups who raised the issue first were the Bulgarians, Romanians and North African French. The former two groups are relatively new to call centre land but cheaper to employ at speaking German than German born Germans. They refuse to mix and prefer to ''do their own thing'' which means doing nothing to integrate to the wider community. Since Brexit this has become more extreme (understandably). Given their suffering under Russian Communism post war they feel betrayed and abandoned by the west, which I (a) agree with and (b) understand.

The ''worst'' group are the North African French, who have such a hatred for all things purely French and ''democratic'' from Paris, given the historical struggles with Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, etc. they reject anything that celebrates the allied axis in the two world wars. Once again I understand and agree with the sentiment but I still feel it is sad that the abstainers are given the floor, when those who want to observe sneak out into the corridor.

Sorry my friend but what a load of shit that is. I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not.

This thread is only a few pages away from grassing I reckon.

Surely the answer is to support both sets of people's views, but those not wanting to observe the silence do so in another location, be it corridor or canteen etc.
The silence is a national event, and is generally observed as such. I think care has been taken to announce it as rembering all who fell in wars.
If people don't want to observe it, then that's fine, but they should be the ones who politely do it somewhere else, without condemnation by those who do.
All the points you raise are interesting and warrant a discussion of how those things happened btw.

If it gets some of the vermin in our fanbase banned/arrested, I'm all for that.
Vermin? Lads work hard all week just to be able to afford to go to football, enjoy themselves, have a drink and let off steam, we have all done it. Yes some may over step the mark and get a bit too boisterous but life has been shit and is still shit for a lot of people and you want them arrested for the one thing in their life that keeps them sane, but they are vermin? your a prick

These Blades fans are no different to fans of every single club and I mean every single club in the country, you are clearly a wet wipe who is better suited to going to watch Rugby than watching football and the hoards of marauding football fans on the piss up and down the country

My own personal view is that the power of Remembrance Day and/or Remembrance Sunday is it's sheer simplicity. I believe that simple approach can (for that brief moment) unite the country in reflection. Those born here, those born elsewhere, everyone. What complicates the situation and I believe confuses people, and I'm going to say dilutes the power, is the volume & theatre of the (too) many silences presented to us. Football Clubs doing it in October, with poems, wreaths, marching, one off Poppy shirts, bugles, tifo displays, etc. It's becoming a competition - we're more respectful than you.

The power is the simple act of silence.

Less is More on this one for me I'm afraid.

Absolutely. Only two kinds of people take a dim view of 'grassing' - school kids and criminals.

People need to feel safe going to matches, especially from their own fans.
Fuck up ya grass

Need to feel safe going to games from fellow blades, what has happened to our support 🤣

Is kicking somebody in the head who's on the floor 'letting off steam' .
Scum who do that need jail time.
I agree, they are vermin.

Most of us like a drink and to get stuff out of our system. We manage to do it with giving other people brain damage.

You must be on the wind up right??

"A bit boisterous"

Are you having a fucking laugh. Kicking the fuck out of a fellow Blades fan is far from "a bit boisterous" and if you're condoning that then you're a fucking idiot!

Obviously someone kicking someone in the head are scum ffs, I'm talking more about the sweaty wives on here who clearly don't want fans to enjoy themselves, would rather fans turn up sober, sit there quietly with a prawn sandwich and then go home.

No it’s the truth, albeit as stated it’s dangerous to generalise, difficult to summarise on a football forum and fully accept the exceptions in all groups mentioned.

I love working and living in a diverse business/city but feel strongly about observing the minutes silence on armistice day.
