Weird one with Ramsdale. He was rubbish at first for us but then in 8 or so games was very very good.

Think his performance against Spurs yesterday has been overhyped immensely, one good save, a few expected saves and a very weak hand for their goal. Wish all the best for him, absolutely no reason why he can’t improve in a much better side.

Happy for him, but he has to make that spectacular save because he's too far off his line. Stands where he should be and its a pretty simple catch.

Yep, there’s no need whatsoever for him to be 4-5 yards off his line there.

You'd have to be a bitter fan to have a problem with Rammers moving to Arsenal. It's Arsenal for God's sake and he deserves it. If it was a sideways move to another Championship club I would be disappointed in him.

If his plan (this goes for Hendo too) is to be contending for the England position then that won't happen at our club unfortunately. Somewhat a shame for us but it's great to see this club can produce some quality players.

Bit harsh to call it a weak hand, rather than almost a spectacular save.

The Spurs goal if saved would have been better than the one people drooling over.

Suspect ramsdale,s form is the reason Henderson wants out on loan from manure, not playing regularly will harm his England chances

Agree. Henderson should have forced that move to Chelsea if, as was reported, they were in for him. Maybe Spurs next season?

Regards Rammers my feelings are quite similar to how I felt about Simon Moore.
Great shot stopper, good reflexes but doesn’t look comfortable coming off his line. The very best goalies make saves look easy due to great positioning narrowing the angle however Rammers and Moore were too often forced to make what looked like spectacular saves.

To be honest I believe the strengths and weaknesses of a keeper can be highlighted or exposed by the type and quality of defence in front of them.
Rammers didn’t look comfortable dealing with corners, however it won’t have helped that our defence overall wasn’t good as defending corners.

Whereas Henderson played like a last defender at times and was always quick to race out of his area when needed.
Agree no one should have negative feelings about Rammers going to Arsenal. This is looking like a win, win, win transfer deal.
Sheff Utd are happy to receive a large transfer fee that helps us strengthen the squad, the player is happy to join the historical 3rd biggest club in England
and Arsenal are happy to buy a young English keeper who should improve.

I still believe Rammers is nothing better than good (average PL standard) keeper whereas I think Henderson is better and will be one of the best in the PL.

Based on what exactly?
Based on his performances in a blades shirt second half of season. He played behind a far worse defence, made just as good saves and had less mistakes in him. As good as Deano was always felt he could drop a bollock (Leeds, Liverpool, already done a couple for Man Utd)

Henderson was over rated by blades purely on his interaction with the fans

He had a heck of a load of clean sheets for someone over rated. Still think he was our best loan signing ever.

Statistics don't support what you're saying.

Henderson was a far superior keeper. But, he's stagnating and Ramsdale's pushing on. So credit where due.

Look at you and the other guy….experts??

I think you’ll find that he’s in the perfect position to narrow the angle for the shot from distance…restrict the space to prevent a dink behind the defence, AND deal with a freak looped shot from a deflection, as proven by the excellent save.
So from that, as I said, his positioning would appear to be absolutely Bob on perfect.

Statistics probably won’t because one played behind one of our best ever defences and one behind one of the premier leagues worst ever teams.

Not taking anything away from Henderson he was still quality for us, but just think Ramsdale is a better keeper.

The statistics are expected goals against Vs actual goals conceded. So quality of defence doesn't really come into it.

Anyhow, you're entitled to your opinion.

Was it ever mentioned what the targets were for the add ons to be met for the extra six million?
Any goal denying save in a London derby day match adds 400,000. Up to a maximum of 6,000,000

Clause 412.203b with iteration of clause 114.14 not withstanding

Ramsdale is one of the most aerially dominant keepers in the Prem and very vocal - particularly for a young 'keeper. His distribution is also amongst the best despite his age. They are the factors that were most missing from the Arsenal team, so it was an exceptional buy for them at a bargain price. Rambo was always excellent at one on ones all the way back to the youth teams. His areas for improvement are long shots from 15-40 yards, and guarding his near post a bit better (nice save here yesterday). Rambo's stats from last year were skewed by the first two months when he was a nervous wreck - largely due to our fanbase and the ridiculous hype and pressure we put on him. Arsenal are benefitting from that now, which is fortunate for them as their toxic fanbase were horrific, long before he'd even signed. The upturn in their results and performances are largely down to their distribution from the keeper through the thirds and Ramsdale's aerial dominance..

No doubt Rammers deserves a shot in the Premier League and if he believes in himself he will stay there too. The main concern if I was Ramsdale is the coaching setup a few have reported it in the past understandable when the manager is Spanish he is likely to appoint a few fellow nationals but with a goalkeeping coach with not much pedigree I had to research who Iñaki Caña actually was not sure what he will learn from the club but definitely will learn from the experience of an Arsenal sized team.

Outstanding save at the end. He looked very excitable and lively - not necessarily a good thing as a GK. Jury still out.

Good shout, but.......

BOBBY, BOBBY, BOBBY DAVISON!

(With honourable mentions to Andy Reid, Ugo, Gary Cahill, Matt Phillips et al).

Just been reading on various sites this afternoon that pundits who were slating his transfer now think he's the Messiah. I'm pleased for the lad, but I treat players who have moved on a bit like ex girlfriends. Jealousy? Maybe. He's moved on and and all I'm concerned about now is when we get our additional £6m. I did hear that it would be triggered if/when he became Arsenal's official no.1. So when will that be then I wonder seeing that's he seems to have already established himself?

Apparently Piers Morgan has forgiven him for his Twitter comments about Morgan in 2014.

Hopefully Rammers still thinks Morgan is a cunt

You are aware that there were no fans in the ground last season? How were we applying this pressure?

If it was social media, I will say again as I always say, professional footballers should either not care what amateurs think, or just not look at it.

They shouldn't, but they do. The stick he was getting before he'd even kicked a ball for us was vile. I actually think having the fans in the ground would've helped him a lot. Social media tends to be a vacuum in which only the negativity stays and leaves an impression. Football crowds tend to get behind their players. We've seen that at Arsenal: the crowd were chanting his name in his first game. Anybody who watched him regularly at Bournemouth would've noticed a colossal drop off in performance at United. Going through that mental test and coming out the other side has benefited him with his experience at Arsenal. If and when an inevitable clanger comes in a match we'll see if he can stand up to that type of scrutiny.

That Arsenal crowd will turn if he screws up. it's one of the least tolerant around.

I just refute the idea that Ramsdale's poor form was largely due to our fanbase. That seems to be a convenient excuse.
