Whilst it was heartwarming to read on here before the season that Brewster and McBurnie would suddenly become the new Keegan and Toshack / Shearer and Sutton and tear the Championship apart with bags of goals , my son and I both felt that the combination most likely to score goals , upset defenders and create chances for others would be Sharp and Jebbison .
I have seen nothing since which changes that opinion and the idea that we should either send the latter out on loan or even sell him is quite ridiculous , but at the same time so reminiscent of the appalling way in which we have underestimated our young talent down the years , with the notable exception of the great John Harris .
Short of selling him off for a massively undervalued figure because we needed to make ends meet and no other players generated interest, it would be very Sheffield United to loan him to Sunderland, him fire them to promotion and we get relegated because those remaining couldn't hit a barn door between them.
Slav is gradually seeing the light. We need Jebbo to help out with this today.
He arrived and saw 8 strikers, probably needs half that and saw Jebbison and thought I need to find a way for this kid to get games.
Well, 4 games in and he's seen:
1. Mousset pull his usual disappearing act. Maybe unlucky, but years of being unprofessional catching up on him.
2. McGoldrick show what a profligate finisher he is, guilty of a miss as bad as anything Verrips did at West Brom and having 5 efforts at Swansea with nothing to show. Does he practice shooting or is it just something he does on a Saturday?
3. Burke show pace then run the ball out to no effect and he's now listening to offers for him.
4. Brewster's total lack of spacial awareness and inability to cause any danger at all.
5. Tyler Smith, he's already letting go to Hull.
6. Sharp has shown he's the most adept finisher on the staff not to mention it was he who set up McGoldrick for that glorious chance at West Brom.
7. McBurnie who most of is are 50/50 on whether he'll come good though he can at least win balls in the air and should have played at West Brom.
8. Jebbison.
On what has been evidenced this season, how anyone can put any of those first 5 over Jebbison is beyond me.
Don't just not sell him. Pick him. Rotate him with Sharp and McBurnie as our forward line. The rest can go.
