Cant understand the hate towards him, look he just wasnt up to it, wilder rated him and played him because he offered us something, i couldnt see what it was at times , but he must have been wilders prefered option. Also the cashier at the petrol station on route to training tells me how nice and pleasant him and jack are, really nice young lads as she puts it.

Because he was a lazy fucker who didn’t put the effort in.

My first experience of watching United was 1971, and its more than fair to say since them we have had some average to awful players, all of them lacking in skill, when compared to TC, Woody etc but however bad they might have been, Longhorn, Guthrie etc no one comes close to Lundstrom for a calculated, sheer lack of effort, if the term Mardy Arse had not already been in use, then Lundstroms 'efforts' would have brought it into general use.

They're welcome to him, they'll think he's the best thing since sliced bread but so he should be against mainly League One level opposition.

He acted in his own interest which is fair enough (I should say so, I handed in my notice at work this morning!) and while he obviously played like shit last season, its Sheffield United and Chris Wilder who are at fault for allowing it to happen when he should have been with the under 23's or already out on loan elsewhere.

The Rangers rumour had been around for a while and there surely could have been a deal done for them to have taken the lazy sod last season if we weren't so incompetent in the transfer market.

Agree re most of what you have said, but I don't think 'we' were incompetent, it was clear enough, Lundstrom was intent on running down his contract, I would argue 'we' were incompetent in leaving a new contract open and available, or as CW put it,, on the table. It made the club look desperate, the new contract should have been left open for 48 to 72 hours, time to consult with his agent, then removed.
Noticed a few Wednesday players that didn't have their contracts renewed are or were due a 'loyalty bonus' for serving their contracts in full,, any idea if Lundstrom has a similar deal, that in some way would explain him, not wanting to move in the last 6 months or so?

Loyalty bonuses are pretty much par for the course now but Lundstram's probably won't have been huge as he signed in the first Championship season. I can see the logic behind keeping him for the second half of the season with Berge out injured as they're the only senior pros who can play RCM (thanks Chris!). I would imagine that the expectations would have been that he'd continue to be professional and put 100% in but sadly that trust was misplaced.

Berlin Blade that is an epic epistle about the end of a footballing relationship. Top work for 4am German time.

Like most of us, I just couldn't understand him being picked, week after week, after some very poor performances.

I would imagine even Alan Knill was stood at the side of the pitch, thinking, "how is he getting picked?"

I don't think we as supporters are in any way unique, we might value effort and hard work, possibly a little higher than those that support the glamour or top 6 teams, and we all like to think the players will give 100% commitment week in week out, Lundstrom let his standards slip, in doing so he came no where near 'our' standards regarding effort, I think it was the start of a very slippery slope, his agent convincing him he was worth far more and had a list of potential clubs all willing to double or triple his wages, any self respect and drive he had was quickly eroded, by getting picked every week, even on the back of a non performance and realisation, there was no competition for his place, the improved contract still being on offer, and no manager calling him out for a lack of effort,, given all that, why would he bother to put the effort in,,

....because he should have pride in his own performance

i agree he should, but week after week, then month after month, of getting away with it, and importantly no one and nothing done to break the habit or belief and you end up with,,,, Lundstroms efforts being copied,

Let's hope he never 'graces' the hallowed turf of SUFC ever again.

'Gud ol Lundy' is the only player who has ever pissed me off so much that I simply had to pack in watching Utd for a few months (from January onwards). Even if we could have been allowed back in the ground, I would have not bothered, such was my disgust at it all.

I have seen many a piss poor player playing for us and still turned up and backed them as I knew that no matter how bad they were they were still playing for the shirt. That tw@t strolled around clearly not giving a fuck and got away with it game after game. It was so obvious I couldn't stomach it any more. Outrageous by GOL and pathetic management by SUFC to allow such a lazy wanker to get away with it time after time, who was going through the motions and playing everything nice and simple to avoid injury and keep his possession stats up. Pathetic.

That said, all done now and he's gone. Good riddance. More importantly I can start to watch my side again without my blood pressure going through the fucking roof.

Hell be remembered for spitting the dummy out after all we did for his career, one purple patch showed us what a player he could be, but then he upset the whole apple cart with the wage demands in my opinion.. Can't have been good for the whole squad to see they can't earn more than 25k a week in the Premier league.. (I know, ridiculous isn't it)

It's a good signing for Rangers on a free, I'll most likely have the pleasure of watching him as we go up to Glasgow a few times to watch them.. He'll not have a problem with Scottish football as its only 2 teams truth be told..

And he's playing for the best one..

Congratulations JL7 no wonder he downed tools for the last couple of months of the season when he had brain dead morons slagging him off

Lunny will smash it up and dare I say follow in Stevie G's footsteps into becoming an all round goal scoring midfielder

Good luck lunny and thanks for the memories , mine isn't as short as plenty of others on this thread

Stuck up for Lunny even well into last season but his attitude and approach during this year stunk the place out for me and usurped anything he did before.

Minimum requirement of any footballer is to try properly and he didn't in a number of games.

Deserves the criticism for that alone.

Making it too obvious 😉

Man City, Man Utd and Liverpool fans all appreciate hard work and effort too.

Hard work and effort is one of the top players best attributes, it just gets overshadowed and hidden better by the best players more technical attributes.

But nobody makes it to the top whether with Man City, Real Madrid, Bayern or Barcelona without working hard.

Running around full pelt like Monty or Lundstram at his best doesn't mean your working harder than Ronaldo or Messi

And anyone using the phrase 'Stevie G' sounds suspiciously like a scouser. Therefore I can only assume that along with your previous post thanking the lazy twat for all his 'efforts' that you are related to him. Unlucky. Still, you can now crack on with setting up your new profile on a Rangers fans forum to follow your hero. He won't be missed at the Lane that's for sure.
