Player contracts?

I was just wondering, what happens with all the players whose contracts end 01/06/2020, if the season is pushed back 2 weeks, these players will be out of contract and ineligible to play.
Are there any players who would have a big impact on the league due to this?

I'm kind of thinking the being out of contract isn't really a problem. Eligibility is more connected to being registered, and given that the registration is under the control of the leagues/FA/UEFA/FIFA, they can easily wave a magic wand. Of course a player could decide that they are done and walk away/hold club to ransom, but why would they?

And the second of course is that I have no idea whether what I say is actually true.

Nobody on here knows. You’ll have to wait for the announcements like we all will.

Well if they had any sense, then they would just say right all players contracts and eligibilty to play for the clubs they are currenly signed for, will be extended by the same amount of time the season is suspended due to the virus. But that is too simple for the powers to think of...hey ho...

Registration is separate from contract hence stuff like the restriction on number of teams you can play for in a season. I imagine if contracts ran out you could just offer players a month or two contract on the same terms and then resume normal end of season contract talks at a later date. Unless a player wants to be seen to use a disease outbreak to hardball at the risk of missing the end of the season then I can't see it being an issue.
 
Ohhh good! That means Wednesday will have to keep all their crap players and pay them a while longer!
 
The only potential pitfall I see here is if a player's contract expires with say 2 games to go.
Player may refuse to play even tho the FA say they can
should they get a serious injury in one of those 2 games they may end up out for a long period, and their club then doesn't offer them a new contrqct, as would no other club. By refusing to play he would be able to negotiate with another team injury free
 
What about Henderson’s loan? Man U could decide to fuck us over on that if the contract allows for it.

Guaranteed his contract runs out at the end of the season. As in on a specific date - Not whenever the season actually ends (if it does). These are legally binding contracts, not something within the EPL, UEFA, FIFAs control. Going to be a complete mess.
 
We are in a bubble of madness right now, nothing makes sense. Either walk though the wardrobe or dive down the rabbit hole.

Contracts go to end of June - which gives opportunities for players to find a new club if they are being released
The only players out of contract at 30 June this year -I think - are Eastwood, Jagielka, Freeman K, Clarke.
This does not include players who have got options in their contracts or loan player - who are "season long" loans.

I care pal, my nan is 95 but it seems whole the world is shutting down for 1% mortality rate when seasonal flu kills many more. I never had the world leaders, bankers, investors down as that bothered about the minority. Whay are they so concerned? More to this than meets the eye, there has to be.

I think most of it is about the unknown. Mortality rate is unknown as yet. Flu mortality is less than 0.1% so even a 1% mortality rate for Covid is a big deal. And it could be higher.

For sure it has everyone all rattled. Did u see Trump earlier? I have never seen him so subdued, and his voice was broke, he may have it.

This is because at the time we thought we had signed one of the most promising English young strikers also hence the fee.
Think the thinking was that after a few seasons we may be struggling to keep him so the long contract would help us get bigger fee.

There is something in there with him though, us dropping divisions may help Brewster in the long run. Also a change in manager (not knocking Wilder) and freshness to the place may help him too.

Give it time and folk will be shitting themselves about someone triggering the release fee.
