I was on the lager last night as it goes. Mikkeller, a Danish Brewery had a mini tap takeover in BrewDog Headingley. I piled into their Japanese Rice Lager on Keg at 5.1%.
Lager that’s been lagered is superb, especially when drunk from the creators teat in a European brewery cellar.
I dont do fizzy ,dont even have lemonade ,and despise Coke ,the only fizzy things I like are Tangfastics.
It's intriguing how "taste buds" work. Do you travel abroad? What do you drink? Default to wine maybe?
Its a pain in the arse ,I will put up with 'beer' when away but dont really like it much ,tend to go down the spirit/wine route.
Given we've been joshing, I'm not really sure what is fact & what fiction. Do you really drink Smith's? Which I think is very fizzy.
Its not lager fizzy ,given a choice ,a pint of Mansfield then Worthingtons ,even Tetley creamflow. After that resort to Smiths or Guinness.

Understood. To clarify, by invest, I meant put money into the business in the form of buying shares, or membership or crowdfunding. So that the business can grow in the way I want it to. Hopefully with some form of reward.Same here i support Gypsy Queen, Milestone, Fox, Museum, Maida Vale, and Beehive, drinking Carling and Carlsberg.

Just think only 30 years ago you’d have struggled to not have Sheffield made Wards, Stones or Trophy or Leeds made Tetleys in most Sheffield pubs. Who’d have predicted that all have now gone.. I love microbreweries but I’m not sure that my rose tinted glasses don’t hark back to simpler ale times with boozers full of people. When my Tardis is functioning a night out in 1986 would be second on the agenda. I’ve lived in Kent for 30 years now and only in the last 5 years has either my Wards weaned palate started to adjust or the brewers upped their game, as most Kent beers are formulaic, dull and agricultural at best and Eighties hone brew at worst. Notable exceptions are Gadds, Kent brewery and nowadays Old Dairy, Hop fuzz and Wantsum are much improved.
(Remember, I'm coming at this as a Student of Supping, rather than judgemental). So, to clarify, you would always choose a Keg Bitter over a Cask Ale? And, you would not vary your choices too much? I was born in the 50s. In Sheffield 8. So, I grew up with the beers & pubs you mention. But, I don't hark back to those beers. And, I always try to have something different. It would be alien to me to drink the same beer every afternoon (I'm not allowed out at nights). Funny isn't it how people can be so different in their habits & tastes.
Why do you think those "major" regional beers died out? My simple mind always goes to - commercial interests, not enough people buying them. There just seemed to be takeover, after takeover, with brands being consolidated into ever larger single large scale industrial sites.
Well I’ll be back to the same place close to Biddenden next year when I hope to be able to sample a wider range of local beers actually inside pubs.
