Roy's View From... Pre-Match View From Coventry

If I remember correctly, I think the reason the Blades fans had little sympathy at the protest game was because the Coventry fans only actively protested by throwing tennis balls on the pitch and whistling when the Blades had the ball but not when Coventry had the ball.
I think there was still some animosity from the previous season game at the Lane, which the Blades very fortunately won 1-0, however somehow McEveley avoided a red card for a horrible challenge and Coventry had a goal ruled out that looked about a yard over the line.

And this is what I'm saying. Nobody made a single comment against our demonstrations other than from your club and we gave you the win. You would have thought the mentality would have changed now you're looking like you could go the same way. You've wasted a lot of money and are only allowed to put a certain amount in now...and that's only if your owners are willing to do so. The years of Prem payments are over. All it takes is one bad season to crush a club and this could be yours.

‘gave you the win’

anyway that wasn’t the point, it was more that your fans apparently despise us because we ‘didn’t show sympathy or solidarity or whatever’ but apparently Wednesday are alright despite their fans actually racially abusing one of your players.

I’ve made this point on the Wednesday thread that I hate it when fans of clubs try sucking up to each other so I don’t give a fuck whether Cov fans like us or not - in fact I’d rather we were disliked but this just seems such a weird reason for you to hate us.

I have a question. Why do so many of you midlands mongs spend time signing up to other clubs forums to gloat about how much of a bigger club you are rather than just celebrate the fact you’re probably going to get promoted? I assume the lack of employment in Coventry plays a factor in this?

What a paragraph that is!

I've been a member of this forum since 2015 and pop on every now and then.

Some people like to interact with their opponents supporters at game time. I've never gloated and have always come back to congratulate you on the win. There's a lot of decent people on here.

The you get the point scorers like yourself.

If I was an idiot that wanted to gloat this would have been the season for it. Our clubs are a similar size. Our clubs been in the dumps since well into the last century. Now we're doing something our ground isn't big enough. If you get relegated and your attendances suffer we will still be similar size clubs.

There's having a go at racism then you get taring everyone with the same brush. They do have their fair share of idiots but the vast majority are sound and are welcoming for a few pre game jars.

All clubs have their own idiots. I know we certainly do but it doesn’t make all of us the same.

I think you need to understand that United and Wednesday supporters on the whole are like chalk and cheese.

United fans don't generally feel the need to be 'liked' or 'admired' like Wednesday fans do. We don't gloat at things like high attendances like they do and, although it's always nice to be well regarded for the right reasons, we don't court the attention of other clubs or the media like they do. They see delusional positivity in everything, we see the pitfalls and generally expect things to go wrong. We're also more demonstrative and less forgiving for our sins imo.

For those reasons alone our present situation is one we are all to familiar with. It's no great surprise to us at all so no amount of 'ribbing' or criticising will really bother us that much. We're used to it.

My point is that I think you'd be much better suited to being on their board than ours. They love the attention and obviously so do you, otherwise you wouldn't be here, on the board of club that you (as a fanbase) generally hate and dislike intensely. There is no good reason for you to be here but if it's what you really need then you go for it. Just don't spout a load of bollocks like trying to tell us that what happened that night was all our fans fault. Some of our fans stood with you at Northampton on that hill in 2013.

As an above poster said, tennis balls were thrown at OUR players, whistles intensified when WE were in possession, and you tried to disrupt and stop a game that was utterly crucial to our promotion hopes. That could have been very costly. You also didn't GIVE us the game either. Your players 'tried like buggery' to stop us from winning the match.

You - like most clubs - have been sucked in to Wednesday's self-imposed plight with sob stories and 'we're so hard done to' tales. We know the truth and we know what they are really like. They aren't interested in being sustainable, they are merely awaiting the next 'Spendageddon' and their 'return to the top table with their 'Man Utd and Liverpool equals'. Then you'll see their true colours and what they really think about clubs like you.

At least with us you know what to expect.
