Was that 1957?

Harry Cripps - Millwall
John Lyall - ex West Ham Manager
Geoff Hurst - unusual position
Bobby Moore
Joe Kirkup - made the West Ham first team

Ken Shellito - made Chelsea first team and became manager
Barry Bridges - made Chelsea first team
and of course Jimmy Greaves.

Bert was reading the other day that Greaves once scored 7 in a game for Chelsea Youth Team.
Ted Drake congratulated him and told him that he'd remember it for the rest of his life.

Next game Greaves scored 8 😁
I watched an excellent 2hr documentary about Jimmy Greaves on BT Sport last night.

In the season before he made his Chelsea debut, aged 17 I think, he scored loads of goals for the Youth Team.

How many ? 30 ? 40 ? No more than that. 50 ? 60 ? No. In that season he scored an astounding 114 goals.

Pace, dribbling ability, left foot, right foot, heading, vision, he had the lot.

He played for Chelsea, AC Milan, Spurs, West Ham, and of course England. He scored on his debut for all of them.

Scored on his England U23 debut as well.

Player of the season at Barnet 1977 /8. 25 goals from midfield whilst being a full scale alcoholic.

Peerless.

WBA 3 Preston 2. 1954 FA Cup final
The second Cup Final I saw on TV. There was a run of exciting finals, different clubs playing, and different teams winning the Cup, which made the games interesting and gave fans around the country the hope that one day... Ah, well... And there was considerable drama (including injuries), as well as heroic stories (Matthews, Trautmann...), all creating the magic of the Cup. For me, that was the best thing about football in the 1950s.

I remember my dad saying that the 1959 FA Cup final between Forest and Luton was boring

WBA 3 Preston 2. 1954 FA Cup final

In 1976 I was working in the West Midlands and playing football for a pretty poor standard football team.

One day Reg (Paddy) Ryan, the WBA Chief Scout who was a member of the 1954 WBA FA Cup winning team was there and asked if I'd be interested in coming along to WBA to do some training. I decided against it.

Yes, HBT regarding injuries I remember, in the 1951-2 cup final, Walley Barnes (Right back) being injured in the first half and Arsenal had to carry on with 10 men. Lost 1-0 to Newcastle. What stands out, in my memory , was the length of time it took to treat the injured knee, and on the field at that- about 8 mins. No subs, of course, and I don't think they used to add time on in those days. All in black and white but Newcastle were in black and white , of course.

Interesting watch TB. Love the Nuttalls Brewery, (not Mintoe's) Lion Ales sign along the stand roof.
I guess by watching the team's come out the one and only Wm. Foulke had moved on.
Maybe SB will enlighten us with the GK info
I think Foulke's last season was 2 years earlier than the film in 1905.

Needham is first out of the changing rooms kicking the ball.
