Obviously he’s my horse so I’m going to back him, but I don’t see what puts Wagner ahead of Clement if we’re going down the list.
Personally I’m not sure what puts Jokanovic ahead of him but he can’t be 3rd choice surely?
I like Clement, forgot him to be honest. I'd definetely take him over many of the names mentioned. Still think Wagner's a cracking shout though. On Wagner, getting Huddersfield promoted snd keeping them there two seasons in the PL is what puts him above almost all candidates in my view. Yes he failed at Schalke, but he used the foreign market to great effect, created a us against the world dressing room and got Huddersfield promoted with a small budget. He's also very charasmatic and relate well to the fans, I thnk he'd be a great fit after Wilders's spell, for the players especially. I think Jolanovic would also be quality, would be more than happy with that, but he also failed with Fulham in the PL, albeit he didn't have control of the signings and they sacked him after 11 games but they lost to Cariff and someone else down there in that spell, so he's not proven in the PL either.

I wouldn't necessarily disagree with what you've said. Wagner would be more of a concern for me, because of the finish at Huddesfield and his record at Schalke.
For that reason I think he'd be a step down from Clement and SJ. SJ gets a slight pass for his sacking at Fulham for the reasons you mention, but I don't think he's necessarily the huge promotion specialist as he only got him up via the playoffs despite having far more resources than the most of the others.

Have all your “the new manager posts” been cut and pasted from the Adkins appointment ....just the name change and the word foreign added 🤔

I'd like Clement first and foremost, not least because I'd stand to win some money from his appointment, but I'll be very happy with SJ too.

Wagner I wouldn't want. He did something wonderful at Huddersfield and seems like a genuinely nice chap, but I really think that expecting him to repeat that would be more of a risk than I'd be willing to take at this point. Just my opinion, mind.

Don't we usually hand these sort of opportunities to ex England captains 'with kudos' so they can spend all the moneh and underperform?
Probably be Rooney, JT or Fat Frank who put on the tracksuit left behind by Robson.... 😉

It was a clusterfuck 4 weeks ago.....it’s still a clusterfuck.
We have an owner who reckons he wants to make the most of the cheaper European market yet hasn’t even managed to get a manager in to assess fully what’s already here.
Add to that we will then have to contend with potential players being away with their countries.....and that bloody excuse for failing to get players in.

we are heading for the new season completely unprepared, and miles off the pace, whoever the manager is going to be.
the incompetence is actually as bad as anything that’s gone before, including the years of bad management by KM.

It’s so bloody United, 12 months ago I believed we had changed. Seems I was wrong, perhaps we are seeing an explanation why we never managed to land players we wanted?
Seriously?!
We know nothing about what's actually going on.
The new season is a whole summer away. Last season finished yesterday.

We had a poor season on the pitch, and sadly our manager left. That's all.

Seriously yes....you think 8 weeks is enough to sort this out ready for the new season? Manager in yes...no manager when the players are all out of the building-definitely not.

I know we have little knowledge of what’s going on, but from past evidence what we have found is that there is always very little going on in reality!
These are not the preparations of a side that will start the season ready to go. We will be yet again still trying to sign players by the transfer window closing...we will yet again be hoping to get a few loans in before the loan window closes....we will yet again be playing catch up with clubs who have either been here a year or two and building, gone down like Fulham or come up with their momentum it carries after a good season in L1.

Early forecast from me...lower mid table at Xmas. Regardless who the manager is.

Agree....the media (and people) these days want to put people in boxes.

He’s ex Sheffield United (and a big fan), northern accent, big no nonsense personality, great motivator, players are organised and work hard,
many pundits (lazily) say Wilder plays route 1 long ball stuff........so he’s been put in the Neil Warnock box.

There was no rush by a single PL club to appoint Warnock and I think it will be exactly the same with Wilder.
The fans would great his appointment in the same way as us appointing Appleton or the Crowley brothers.
He’s seen as a 1 hit wonder but doesn’t really register in the management world.....has no longevity and little experience of top league football.

I really believe West Brom (decent sized club with realistic ambitions of promotion) is the best offer Wilder will receive or can expect to receive.
I think that’s absolutely spot on, which is probably why he squeezed every last penny out of the club whilst riding the wave of success.

Which, whilst at complete odds to his ‘ballboy, player, manager, fan, been away on a Tuesday night etc’ mantra, from a personal and family perspective, you really cant blame him, but in going down that route he’s slightly shot himself in the foot imo 🤷🏻‍♂️

The problem is there's two sides to every negotiation and any in demand or decent option is going to want to take their time to see what else is out there.
That's why it always takes us late to secure loans in particular, but I think it's also the case with SJ. He wants to see what other options are available to him, before settling for us.

What do we think to the rumours still going round that we’re waiting on Slav to decide. He isn’t being rushed as he want to weigh up the options. He’s notoriously difficult to close deals with according to Nixon.
If true, and the fans demand Slav, how can the club be expected to expedite it?
I wonder if he's waiting to see if Fulham want him back?

I would think he'd be checking all his options, and regardless of what we're willing to pay, he'd always goto London over us.
It's also why I don't see WBA as any threat to us securing him.

They've got a better starting point in terms of the sort of players he'd want maybe?

So there have been no successful managerial appointments (in this country alone) at the beginning of a summer break?! I'm guessing you'll find hundreds of examples, if you give it any thought or research.

"Past evidence" you say... Like under different owners with different methods, in different eras? Not relevant is it.

Making predictions (forecasts) with no real knowledge and REGARDLESS of whoever the manager is... Okey dokey😂

Just calm down mate. Try and get some down time. Reassess your concerns in a month.

I have concerns over Wagner especially in recruitment terms. You’re right to point out Huddersfield exploited the European market incredibly well but that was director of football Stuart Webber not Wagner. Webber has gone on to have similar success using the same methods at Norwich even recruiting a youth coach from Dortmund in farke like he did with Wagner. I fear in bringing in Wagner we’d be getting the monkey not the organ grinder.

They had 7 players on loan so that squad is going to look a lot different now they have returned to parent clubs.

I thought the same but on the flip side they've also got a lot of Championship ready players coming back from loan so they won't quite be as decimated as it may first look.

Mate of mine works in the media, and apparently Parker is on Spurs' radar, although not the preferred option by any means.

A couple of Fulham friends have said they'd be envious of us having Slav, and would rather him than Parker, so assuming there's no bad blood still there, if by any chance Parker does go there's every chance of Jokanovic returning.

My take on it would be that we'd have made Slav commit or we'd have moved on by the time Spurs get down their list to having to offer it Parker.
Levy loves to run things down late as he believes it gives him the advantage when negotiating so I think they'll appoint late especially if it's not one of their top marque names. He'll also not want to potentially impact ST sales given that Parker wouldn't please the fans who have serious delusions of their rank when it comes to the real big boys. .

I've said this before and I'll say it now. If we can't get Slav r even if we can David Wagner would be a great appointment, far better than any of the names on the shortlist that's ocme out, bar Jokanovic. If Slav is taking his time and witing for other options I'd definitely turn to Wagner. As others have said we need this appointment this week really, even the players and interim manager are calling for it as we know. We could do worse than Hecky in my view also, if some of the names that have come up are true.

I like Wagner but he'd probably want to bring his entire backroom team with him, y'know, his missus, Max, the dog etc...

But hey, he can play the trumpet, compete in Nascar, fly an airliner, ski to olympic standard AND solve murders, so who's to say that he can't get us straight back up?

Agreed - I'd have thought whatever deadline we may have had for Slav will be pretty close to expiring. With the world as it is at the moment he may well be in a hotel room quarantining as we speak, and everything was signed a week ago!

Normally I wouldn't have given you a like for this as I think you can do better. However 40 mins in and no likes at all didn't seem fair for the effort you'd put in especially given the nostalgic references and knowledge you'd shown.

Some posters really can't wait to have a flounce on here.

I am not sure that people were listening when it was made abundantly clear that PH was in charge until the end of the season. So on that basis, what is the point of announcing anything before the end of the season?

What were folk expecting? Jokanovic to be unveiled at the final whistle, and then chase the players around the lap of honour with the Benny Hill them blaring out over the PA?

Very credible ITK suggests it's a done deal and will be announced in the coming days. So let's see what happens before we start pulling the panic chord.

Yes but we want a manager NOWWWW how dare we be made to wait so that we get the right manager

That's the best review I've ever had. That's going straight on the website! 😆
