Well I don't think appointing SJ and a decent transfer kitty is necessarily "shit or bust". Our sensible approach to contracting (relegation wage drops), the parachute payments and player sales (Berge, JOC, Ramsdale?) could put us in good stead for a promotion push and I don't think that would be sh*t or bust.

Do I want sh*t or bust? You know what, I'd rather take that than fading out into an average Championship team. I want us to show ambition and have a go. If we do hire SJ, a promotion expert, then I think our intention is clear. And I don't think we need to break the bank in doing that.

Certainly seems to have plenty in his favour compared to some of the other options under discussion.

Likewise here. I'd much rather see us go all out for promotion in the next season or two than see us slip back into mediocrity. I don't think we need a shit or bust approach though, and promotion could potentially be quite simple.

No. you're right bud, it isn't your board, it also isn't his thread either, ergo, he can't demand what gets said, we're in a free speech country, if you don't like something then don't read it lol.
How would you know you don’t like something unless you have read it ?

Thank you, thats nice to hear. But Ranmoorblade was right and I derailed things more than I should have.

Although I guess I could apply for the job if it makes it more relevant................

:):):)
Send your CV in. It hasn’t any relegations on it so you should be fine. Sign some forrins and play the kids and you’ll have no problem. Unless you’re really Kevin Blackwell, in which case, you can fuck off.

Is the Blessin rumour dead in the water now then or is there going to be an appeal?

I wonder if SJ could 'break the bank' even if he wanted to. We couldn't attract/afford the top players coming out the championship last pre season as a PL team, can't see that changing now we've been relegated. Unless of course he has some sort of episode and starts offering the likes of Jordan Rhodes a lucrative contract...

I think the championship is in a dire financial situation to be honest.. We'll be in a superior bargaining position even with the alleged parachute payments going on the stadium

Derailed it like a crab industries high speed trai...sorry, its like an involuntary reflex

That's one bit we don't know. apparently it would cost the club to appeal and that was the last mentioned on it from local and national media.

Don’t think there’s an official appeals process in place yet it doesn’t seem to be a particularly robust or well thought out process and will probably be amended as things go on. Not sure we’d want to be a trail case though as the legal wranglings and inherent political interest would probably mean it dragged out for ages.

I don’t think if SJ comes he’ll be allowed unlimited funds so if he does I’d expect he already will know that and be ok with it. Surely part of the process from his perspective is knowing who’s likely to be gone and how much he will have to spend to build the squad he wants.

Yep agreed, but if everyone else is struggling we should be able to pick up the players that PL teams don't want relatively cheaply, thereby not 'breaking the bank'.

Exactly my point bud. Thinking about it, there's probably never been a better time to come down and mount a challenge for promotion.

Won't need much anyway as they said most of squad is staying

What do you consider the alternative to be? Once the parachute payments have run out, we’ll have sell players anyway. Pre-Covid, most championship clubs ran at a loss or had parachute payments and I suspect in two years time, the situation will be similar.
For me, the only question is do we look to bring in younger players who may have a future resale value but may lack the consistency of more senior players or do we sign older players who tend to be more consistent but will have little resale value if we don’t go up? How do we strike the balance between the two?
Clement is the main alternative I’d say. Longer term planning and a more evolution than revolution approach to the next 3 seasons, including utilising the youth players certainly in Season two and three and not blocking their long term path with the signings.
Blessin would be the same but clearly he has some significant concerns with regards to his experience working against him. Clement doesn’t have that.

Thing is with Jokanovic, club owners have chucked money at him and he made it work. Or he asked for money and they gave it him.
Doesn't mean to say that he couldn't work with a lower budget or wouldn't be prepared to work with a lower budget.
Money was the main element of his original come and get me plea put out in the press.
Not that he sees it as a great opportunity to get back into the Premier League, and he’d welcome the chance to talk to us, just I’m interested if you’d make me the highest paid manager.

it would be great to read about the possible manager instead of the tiresome Crab Industries fairytale. 🙄
So? You don’t always get what you want and seemingly some on here quite like it.
You’re a grown up, I’m sure you can ignore it and scroll past without needing to be a dick about it and make someone feel shit.
