We're talking about some morons saying mean things, and they're tosspots for doing that. It could even rise to the level of harassment if it's repeated or assault if they make McBurnie feel threatened. What it doesn't mean is the excuse of "but he called me names first" that didn't pass when you were five suddenly becomes okay now you're 24.

I've had my altercations (at least one that did get to the level of me reporting to the police) but I can genuinely say I've never in my life walked up to someone and hit them because they shouted at me.

Thing is though, if that was say Brewster and not OM'B it would be very doubtful those pricks would have said anything and almost definite that if they had they wouldn't have got the same reaction.........Oli, touts himself as a "lad" wears his Stoney to make wanker signs at Cardiff fans, posts pictures on Insta drinking in his Gucci, drove a flash motor before his driving ban etc......not saying that makes it OK to dig him out but it does make him a target for twats like these......

I've said the same thing, this will have started in the beer garden, and this wanker has probably followed him outside and carried on with the shit, maybe he had a few mates with him and was giving it the big un to a bloke out with his missus... If he wasn't a footballer that is would be what was happening, right? some say that's bullying? Food for thought guys n gals..

Can't believe what I am reading on here.

We are all connected with Sheffield United Football Club, yeah? If we weren't, we wouldn't be here, dong what we do or being identified as 'he's a Sheff United fan' at work. McBurnie is one of our players. Quite a prominent one in fact and one who has come expensively and this season when it really mattered, without much to shout about let alone assault anyone.

Now he is no less notorious than 'Sheffield United drug addict Jose Baxter', 'banned Sheffield United drug cheat Paddy Kenny', 'jailed convicted rapist, Sheffield United striker Ched Evans' and 'car crashed by Lys Mousset, striker for Sheffield United'. No matter the mitigation, it's pinned on the club. It's pinned on us. Relegation and notoriety in the same player.

If someone fronts me up in the street they'll get an ignoring to, but if it did retort to violence and retribution, no one on here would give a fat fuck. I don't play for the Blades. My actions are of no consequence at all and won't make the headlines. If McBurnie had just moved on and out of the way, neither would his. But as we have seen on here, he's quick with the fists when on the back foot.

I can't quite see how some are mitigating his actions, unless he was under real physical attack.

Mcburnie did the right thing. If he just 'walks away' as some on here want, as soon as that video is uploaded on Facebook/Twitter and the like, every prick around the area would be having a pop when he's out. They now know he doesn't take any shit (and nor should he). The bloke was out with his girlfriend, he shouldn't have to put up with that bollox.

Spot on it is bullying, maybe if it happens every time Oli is in Knaresborough it is stalking. Like Jack Grealish say why do people think it is ok to abuse footballers in the street with friends and family like they would from the terraces.
I doubt looking at the video's that this will go much further than Police cautions for both of them unless the CPS see it as another way to make an example of a footballer much in the way they did with Ched Evans.

Yep thats right just cos i think McBurnie is shit automatically makes me a pig. Hes one of the worst strikers i've seen at Bramall Lane and i've seen the likes of Laurens Ten Heuvel, Andy Campbell, Michael Higdon i could go on

Not only is he a rubbish footballer, hes a criminal and seems to have a shocking attitude, we need to get rid and quick.

How many of these lash out and physically attack the provokers? If everyone reacted how Mcburnie did it'd be front page news every week.

For me this is why it's can't be seen as acceptable, and it's fair to level questions, fault and criticism at Mcburnie. Its also not his first misdemeanor.

I also feel some sympathy for him, as doesn't ask for it, must be horrible to experience and shouldn't come with the territory - but here we are.

First video I saw, I thought f**ksake McBurnie. Second video, he deserves all he got. How long do you keep taking shit while getting followed. Football is a competitive physical contact sport. Top class players are testosterone-filled animals. If you don’t want them to be, then go and watch ice skating. We live in a highly competitive world - nice guys don’t win - there are no nice guys at the top in industry or politics as well as sport.

McB is a physical killing machine. He showed enormous restraint - possibly because his girl was there. He has the power and the background to have done real damage to that guy, and barely touched him.

As for slagging him off as a player - nobody put in more effort while on the pitch than he did. If you want to have a go at players, have a look at our midfield pointers, who point back at the space that they should have been in themselves.

I don’t condone violence - but I do condone competitiveness - which can easily provoke some level of verbal and physical violence.

This incident was a complete non-event - another waste of time and money created by the phones-everywhere society.
