The most successful clubs are in the richest areas, newcastle get 55000 at home but look where they are, you could blame the owner but I bet it’s down to money coming in to the club, Sheffield isn’t an affluent area and doesn’t have surrounding affluent areas unlike the London clubs even Leeds as a city roughly the same size is more affluent.

Yes, and I wish we were half as big a failure as Newcastle
They have large fanbases that extend far beyond what they can get into St James Park, and that's the reason for the Saudi takeover interest.

When you add the fact that they've had to compete with Sunderland who in their own right also have a fanbase which extends further than what they can get in the Stadium of Light, its only a matter of time before they get the backing they need as well.

We have 27,000 fans left, if all 27,000 died today, heaven forbid, were practically finished.

Hence my original comment, we need a new fanbase.

Newcastle are a phenomenon as they have a massive following with no competition in the city no 2nd club or rugby club like Leeds to take away from their lime light but still they can’t win anything

Success is relevant
Newcastle have won the Championship title three times in recent memory

They wouldn't see that as success because they've had to be in the Championship to win it.

The rest of the time they have been a Premier League club, and at times a very good one.

They have also played in Europe numerous times

Winning the Premier League isn't possible for them at the moment, but they have had success.

Numerous cup finals, European football, a long Premier League presence, big exciting signings and when they have fallen out of the Premier League they have pissed the Championship each time.

They haven't won a cup for a long time which is a strange fact, but they have won three Championship titles when they have found themselves in the Championship.

Ask any Championship fan, if they'd rather win the title and get promoted or the FA Cup and it will be the Championship title every time.

Boring though isn't it. I'd exchange 10 bland Prem years for our league one winning season.
I think I’d take the 10 bland years to be honest if only for the prestige of being an established premier league club. We’d have more chance of winning the cup in the premier league if nothing else.
In another ten years I might be dead and join all the rest who have supported United all their lives and not seen them even get to a cup final of any kind in their life times. We’ve all been let down over the decades by utter piss poor owners and impoverished boards of directors.

Do you think a football clubs fanbase is limited to what they can get in a stadium ?
No the Pigs have at least 1m fans on a global scale. Chanser said so

There are less people interested in Sheffield football than there used to be.

You say that but how come we got 25k in the 3rd division when we struggled to get 20k in the 80s in the 2nd tier
Are you part of our fanbase ? If you dont go to games it doesnt fucking matter as you contibute fuck all to the income of SUFC. I do appreciate those fans that dont live in Sheffiled and those that cant afford to go regularly Fanbase means fuck all if you dont get those fans through the gate and we have sold out BDTBL plenty of times
occasionally we have a spare ST available and I could get rid of it very easily

Spoken like a proper dumbass

A fan could live in Australia and contribute more financially than a season ticket holder

Youre the dumbass youre definately talking like a pig now
Youve avoided the question tell me why less people in Sheffield are intersted in SUFC and in 10 years nobody will be going to watch a game at BDTBL. When attendances have increased over the past decade
Im sure said Aussie has put more into the club than you have over the past 5 years
Why would someone that lives in Oz want spend over £700 per season on the Blades or £7k over 10 years
Must be some dumbass Aussies
Again talking bollocks
If youre not that interested in supporting or watching the Blades why the fuck do you come on here ?

I'm talking about fanatics of other clubs

My best mate is an estranged Geordie working and living in Sheffield

Spends more on Newcastle United than the average Sheffield United season ticket holder

Again avoiding the questions
Your mate spends more than £700 pa on Newcastle United does he
Thats a lot of barcode shirts

To the OP, we won’t join those clubs who bounce back, mainly because next season will be a ‘cost reduction’ exercise and not a concerted push for promotion.

What AVERAGE Sheffield United fan pays £700 for a season ticket ?

If they had to pay more than twenty quid per game for the entire family they wouldn't pay it

Not about the price of a ST is it though in your own words financially contribute

Average price of ST is around £450
Buy a shirt £60
Buy other merchandise / programme/ food drink another £150 per season
Its not hard to get to financially contributing £700 per season
How does your strange Newcastle mate spend that sort of dosh on the barcodes if he doesnt have a ST

Again talking bollocks re your statement of Blades not paying more than £20 per game for an entire family
You are making yourself look stupid

Collects memorabilia
Buys items of historical interest, buys jewellery, merchandise.
He has a set of golf clubs with the Newcastle club badge etched into them.

A number of nice watches, nice stuff, not the guff our shop sells.

Some club shops do sell more than a Sander Berge tea mug for a fiver.

He pays for an odd ticket when he goes home from ticket master or somewhere, at prices no Sheffield United fan would pay for a Champions League final.

You might say Newcastle United don't benefit from some of these things, but he is still spending money on his club. But when you consider our fans also like to include the cost of eating and drinking when complaining about the cost of watching United, it's a bit strange........ it's as though they wouldn't buy a half a dozen Gregg's sausage rolls if they didn't go to the match.

Plenty of fanatical isolated fans spend a damn sight more than ours pay for their entire season tickets.

You mentioned contributing financially to the club
You do that mainly by buying a ST or match tickets all that money goes straight into the club
Items / merchandise from the club shop they probably make 25% on
The barcodes dont benefit by one single penny in him buying items of historical interest or memorabilia why buy tickets through ticket master, if hes that much of a fan and loves spening his hard earned on the barcodes buy a ST he doesnt have to go every game he can let friends use it
Im sure if you go on any clubs forum you will find fans moaning about the cost of food etc some fans can barely afford a ST when they have a family and other financial responsibilities
The barcode probably has plenty of disposable income hes lucky some people dont have that luxury

Again youre talking bollocks Ive asked you a number of questions youve not answered
As Ive said I dont know why come on this forum as all you do is moan which you yourself accuse our fans of doing. Bet you are really fun at parties

And to further illustrate your point - Our third division attendance average for the 2016-17 season was higher than three out of our four first division/premier league seasons under Bassett.
