Can we join the likes of Norwich, West Brom and Watford in becoming a yo-yo club? If your players contracts are signed and sealed correctly there’s an argument that it can be good for the club, keep your wallet tight(ish) and have a go at staying up if you do brilliant and if you come down then you’ve got a good amount in the bank and your contracted players take a cut back down in the championship.
However at some point a yo-yo club has to take a punt on becoming a mid table established side like palace/Newcastle/Southampton.

I get the whole I prefer the championship anyway argument I really do but footballs all about finishing as high as you can and battling it out for Europe/domestic cups. If Leicester can do it why can’t we?

Leicester have a billionaire owner. We do not (yet).

I'd rather be a "Yo" club. Come back and stay back.

Despite the shite decisions and VAR etc. Ruining games, the PL is where we wanna be.
Not sure. What's best, being in the prem, being bottom third average. Or are relegation and promotion battles more exciting?
I don't mean I want to us to go down obviously. But the scrap for promotion has been one of our ongoing highs over the years.

You might not have noticed Leicester are owned by billionaires, calling Palace and Newcastle established is stretching it a bit, perennial relegation avoiders always looking over their shoulders more like.

Shouldn't we always strive to be the best that we can be?

Given our level of support despite not doing anything of note for best on a century. I think there is an opportunity for the current ownership to make themselves Blades legends.

Palace seem to be able to keep comfortably picking up points throughout the season and are usually quite safe in reality. I think they’ve been in the Premier League for about ten years now, something we can only dream of now!

Boring though isn't it. I'd exchange 10 bland Prem years for our league one winning season.

They always have match winners at the club
Everything that Sheffield United fans hate, style, grace, ability, skill, speed of thought, attacking intent.

It's reached a point that for Sheffield United to reach a certain point that could be considered succesful an entire new fanbase needs to be harvested.

A fanbase that refuses to accept shyte

I think it’s possible to have a different view, but I’m pretty confident that such a thought will fly over your head...

Absolutely.

It's about simple economics too - PL=they give you money to spend - Championship = you find the money yourself (other than parachute payments).

We didn't use our PL money wisely, but that doesn't mean to say next time we can't do it better.

It's an absolute no brainer.

Yeah I fucking hate good technical players, as do you.

If our fans had "refused to accept shyte" over the last five decades then we'd have no fans left 😂

It is what it is, we can't actually influence it, so if you can't accept that then it's time to find something else to do on a Saturday afternoon.

Just as an after thought, if you can't accept what you get, what exactly do you propose to do about it?

Yes, they are rubbish, always causing trouble in the camp, don't work or train hard enough, earn too much money, and somehow manage to stay at the top of the game in spite of being lazy good for nothings.

We've got the system right, the Blaaayyyydddeess Wayyyhhhyyy

Our success over the last 90 years proves it

I've read both your posts and I'm still not sure what point you're trying to make.

Can’t ever recall saying any of that and Duffy was popular when he was here and Wilder was criticised for dumping Freeman?
I’m starting to think you’re just making stuff up.

We haven't got many left
That's the whole point

Those with an ounce of wanting something better have given up and fucked off decades ago,
Only diehards remain, and they will die off soon, every ten that die is replaced by one.

I have three brothers and two sisters and no end of uncles, cousins, many of which were very keen fans. It doesn't even register with any of them anymore.

The next generation of our family, the kids, my sisters and brothers kids, my cousins kids etc.
Sheffield United or Wednesday eithet do not even exist as far as they are concerned

The club has not done enough to bring through a sizeable enough proportion of the last couple of generations. And the chain is broken.

Sounds like your family are the kind of plastics the club could do without

Surely if we were drawing from a pool of supporters that is getting smaller and smaller year on year you would expect to see a year on year decline in our attendances.

That hasn't happened. No matter which decade you look at from the 1960s onwards our attendances are generally higher now if comparing like with like (ie - same division). Only when you go back to the early 1950s and late 1940s do you see average attendances that were higher then than they are now.

Not really, they can't be plastics if they don't have any interest whatsoever

We could get back and stay in the PL with the right manager and the backing that he would need. We would need a new owner or big investment for PL players and the wages that they bring or we would go straight back down again.

You talk absolute bollocks
I was brought up with the team of Woodward, Currie, Badger Hemsley Salmons and Reece
My dad used to rave about Hagan and what a quality footballer he was
Hope your absence from BDTBL is a long one. You sound like a fucking pig

Thats why most games at BDTBL have sold out
Theres no fans that want to go
As Ive said you talk bollocks

The trouble with mediocrity is that it gets boring just as much as not giving you a heart attack going up and down from the PL there’s also having one bad season in the championship and going down to League one (for 6 years) i prefer if given the option of the yo yo club specially with the forward pass’ ( bad pun I know)

Do you think a football clubs fanbase is limited to what they can get in a stadium ?

There are less people interested in Sheffield football than there used to be.

Because both clubs have been wank for decades

The most successful clubs are in the richest areas, newcastle get 55000 at home but look where they are, you could blame the owner but I bet it’s down to money coming in to the club, Sheffield isn’t an affluent area and doesn’t have surrounding affluent areas unlike the London clubs even Leeds as a city roughly the same size is more affluent.
