Now the deadline has passed who on here has renewed and who hasnt?

I ve no axe to grind with those who have and none also for those who have nt.

After 45 years a Blade and a ST holder for as long as I can remember, with a heavy heart i decided not to renew. I wrestled with should I or shouldnt I for the last two months. Right up till ten minutes before todays deadline I almost gave in and called the ticket office. But I stayed strong in my resolve and did not pick up the phone.

I feel bad about not doing so but I ve not renewed.

I will still go but will pick my matches.

strange feeling.

Any guesses as to how many wont renew? Anyone know anybody in the ticket office in the know?

Dont worry about it, you can still do all the games you want .......

Start panicing when they are playing and you dont realise until that morning ........

And didn't renew, because I am already NRS

I haven't but that's not to say I won't. I'll look at it in the summer after I see what the club has done in the transfer market and see what they're prepared to offer me. If things are looking ok I would be happy to renew at the cheaper renewal price. If they say I cant have it (passed the deadline and all that) I'll say "suit yourself, I wont bother" - they either want my money or they dont. They dont hold the stronger bargaining position anymore, they should keep that in mind.

I'm a season ticket holder of many years, I've seen crap teams and I've seen good teams but nothing at all has made me want to rush down to that ticket office to renew before their er-hum "deadline" - if that means I'm not a true blade then so be it.

I've renewed. At 27, I've got a few more years before United cause me any permanent damage.

Btw Raul. Ive just booked that cruise!!!

Don't worry if you, if you change your mind just ring the club and they will still let you renew at the pre-deadline price. They don't like to make it common knowledge for obvious reasons but they have been doing this for years.

You may also get a phone call in the week to persuade you - and again offering the pre-deadline price.

If you stick to your guns it is a very strange feeling but it does get easier.

I haven't because I didn't couple of years ago and I didn't miss it a bit. I don't like giving my money to McCabe to play with.

Once you drop the habit you don't mind. In fact once you take the red and white specs off things generally don't hurt so much.

I genuinely feel sorry for those who have renewed.
I hope it works out for them but things could well get worse before they get better.

Not rushed out to renew but then I never do. I usually leave it until a few days before the season starts.
I've been threatening not to renew for a few years and play some golf and have some weekends away with Mrs Alien. I'm not sure if it's the depression at the lane that is getting to me or football in general that is losing it's appeal.
No doubt come August when my phone rings I will sign myself up for another season of woe:mad:

That is true.

Its an odd feeling at first but surprisingly you can just go to the pub but not the football on a saturday.

I've renewed. I'm not going to let my feelings for McCabe or the Board stop me following my club. Perhaps we'll see some of the glory hunting, fair-weather supporters on here returning if things pick up?

Quite a bit of the disillusion is about modern football.
When you're told True Blades should be shelling out to help pay for shyte players on £20k a week who have played the club's way into League One and may yet even still be there in League One you know that there's something very badly wrong.

But how will we be able to spot them Deano? Special stand? Special turnstiles? Yellow star?

Hmm, 5 years out of 35 in the top flight, nowt like a bit of glory-hunting in the fair weather times.

Len..I might have missed it in another thread but did you renew before today's deadline?

after 45 years support I dont think im either of the above.

And its that 45 years experience that tells me things wont pick up.

And despite that.......I will keep returning...........but maybe not as an ST holder.

I think the Pulitzer prize whould be awarded for this entry. Getting the words glory hunting and Sheffield united in the same sentence is a true first. Now there may be fans that will buy tickets when we've won a few on the bounce, when we are in the premiership (5 times in 35 years).
There may be fans who turn out for FA Cup Semi Finals or Play Off Finals. The club has not reached a major final since 1936. We have played in Div 4. But no - one who supports Sheffield United FC, either in spirit, half heartedly, or home and away is a glory hunter.

Manchester United supporters from Taunton or Liverpool supporters from Ireland are glory hunters.

There are different levels of glory hunting. For the likes of Man U, glory is winning trophies. For the likes of us, it's getting to the top flight. Our ground was packed for just about every game in the Premiership. Where are those fans now? Some of the comments on here are an absolute disgrace.....I won't go until X happens.....I've stopped going and don't even miss it ....I'm not going to renew because I don't like the fucking pies. If some of the people on here think so little of the Blades what the fuck are they doing on a Blades fans website?

Maybe so but I want to be there to see us get worse and then the getting better bit will be all the more enjoyable.

I've been going regularly for 20 years and let's face it most of the time you watch many many crap games to see one memorable one. I'm looking forward to some memorable experiences next year. They might be more about visiting weird in bred towns with my fellow blades more than some Ajax like displays sweeping all before us but I'm strangely looking forward to next season. I don't like all the Prem stands for and the championship was getting a bit monotonous.

Onward to Rochdale.

In the premier league our ground was fuller than it had been for many a year, but was not packed for just about every game. We had 6 attendances of less than 30,000 (almost one third of our matches) and 3 of those attendances were less than 28,000.

I've renewed and will do so for as long as I can. I don't blame anyone who doesn't renew, but as the blades have been a part of my life from a very early age - I can remember Sabella and I'm 37 now. I have seen enough ups and downs to take each hit with a sigh of resignation, but enjoy the good times to the full it is something that I don't personally want to walk away from.

I'm with you on this one, and seriously, please don't feel sorry for me Lenners.

I can fully understand fans not renewing. I've been a Blade since being a kid the mid-seventies, had a season ticket for nearly 30 years and yet of the friends I go with (and have been all over the country with) a couple have not renewed last year and this.
I would like to say I feel sorry for those that haven't. I can't personally can't understand the feeling of seriously deciding that I didn't want a season ticket and so I suppose feel sorry for those people that have made this choice, but I can understand why people have, including long-time unbelievably loyal Blades.

For me, I still want to watch United, whatever the league.
I won't pretend for a few moments I haven't wondered if I really wanted to pay £409 and to watch this current lot, but then I think that some of the best times and most memorable were in the lower leagues. I know we are crap now, and I hate the current crop of over-paid wasters as much as anyone, probably more than most. I'm sure most of the current lot just view us as another notch in their career towards the bright lights of the Premiership in their mis-guided, over-inflated view of themselves. I am also not impressed that players who were keen to play for United when were in the Premiership and Championship and got handsome - too handsome - rewards for it, now seem too think they are too good to play in the 3rd tier with us. Problem is we can't afford to keep them, and frankly I don't want them anyway, but I'd love the club to tell them that they put us there and so they have to stay with us and have 1st division footballer stamped on their passport.
I'm sure we will get better, one day.

I hope the club does recover enough to attract some of the proper Blades back, and by that I don't mean promotion to the Premiership, I don't actually want those fans back tbh, but I am very concerned that a lot of fans have given up for good.

That comment tells me you're a relative young 'un.
Glory hunting for 'the likes of us' should never be considered getting to the top flight of English football for ferk's sake.
Some of us think a lot more of United than that my friend.

Renewed also, I look forward to seeing what happens next season, I'm exicted by the possibilty that we may have a very young and hungry squad bolstered by a few experienced players, it should be a step in the right direction, hopefully all the players who stay and the management and coaching team will learn from the mistakes of this season.
