By Kevin Gage unbelievable
I think everything he says is true, isn't it?

Unfortunately this is the main problem this season, we create very few chances and when they do come along we miss them. Didzy will play next season and will be ok if he stays injury free but our team lacks pace and he isn't the answer long term.

We all stick up for Didzy because of the other things he does for the team but can you imagine the abuse if McBurnie had missed this chance, its a bit like double standards?

For clarity, which bit of what he said isn't correct ?
For a start, that a striker who’s been the best player and scored seven goals in a terrible team suddenly can’t cut it in the division below because he will be five months older by the time it starts.

We produced exactly one great chance in that game. It should've been buried but the only other half decent chance I can think of was Brewster near the end. Now think of Chelsea, one of them slips in a one on one, one skies it after it bounces back off Ramsdale, the break for the second goal, they produce multiple good chances to get a goal.

It's not enough to come away from every game having had exactly one good chance and then saying "the strikers need to be more clinical". No one's that fucking clinical. And even if McGoldrick's finishing isn't good enough, he's the only player we have with any chance of producing something out of nothing. He's the only striker who actually joins the strikers and midfield together.

I think this is a really good point. We create so few good chances for our strikers that when we do finally create one and they don't take it then it really stands out and everyone goes mad over it. Even the top top strikers miss good chances, the difference is that they are often in teams that create enough chances for them to score 3 out of 5 so everyone forgets the ones they missed.

He's our top goalscorer and is almost certainly going to win our Player Of The Season. He might be right and he might not be as big of a threat next season but it would be absolutely insane to get rid of him.
I can't see who else gets the POTY trophy this season, unless someone else has an absolute blinder in the next 9 games. Aside from injuries, he'll surely be a double figures player in the championship next year as his game is all based on vision and good feet rather than pace.

It was a shocker of a miss though

He didnt say he couldn't cut it in the Championship. He said the top end of the Championship. He may well be correct. Whilst Didzy has the technical ability will a new manager feel he is not athletic enough for a full championship season if the formation changes

Exactly. I know some people don't like stats but this is a good list to look at just to see what players appear. The top ten for who's missed the most big chances includes Mane, Vardy, Salah, Firmino, and Sterling. Just having a click through it's (very roughly) 2 or 3 big chances missed for every goal.

Granted McGoldrick's yesterday was as good a chance as you're likely to get, but we don't even produce enough chances to say we're missing too many. If you look at all these games where we've lost by a goal, the opposition have had a number of good chances and we've been lucky to have one.

The first sentence of his post was only the same as I was thinking and shouting at the tv, you could see him watch the ball all the way onto his head, terrible miss.

However the rest of it is garbage, Didzy can do a job for us next season and an important one. I do not understand the desire to chuck older players on the scrap heap prematurely especially Billy. One of the best players I ever saw hardly ever trained but his brain was so sharp he was usually in the right place at the right time. In contrast our resident younger speedster came on as a sub, and outpaced his defender admirably before turning in a circle trying to actually control the football. His second high energy burst forward resorted in him falling over with no one near him.

We all love Didzy for what he has given us since he signed but it was an horrendous miss. I don’t buy the spinning ball theory either, they train day in day out as pro’s and he more than anybody will know it was an unacceptable miss. But while we don’t create many chances, we have to be playing our most natural goal scorer, and that is Billy Sharp. Players like Brewster would learn so much playing alongside him. I know people will say he can’t do it at Prem level, but neither can any of our other forwards. For me he should have played more this season. And for what it’s worth I also think Didzy would be perfect for the number 10 role unless we bring in someone better next season.

As others have said if he was a better finisher he'd have spent his entire career at Premier League level and we wouldn't have picked him up for nothing after a trial. His finishing is usually over cautious which is born out of a lack of confidence in front of goal.

That said his time at the Blades will be far more memorable than Kevin Gage's. Another has-been pro who spends their time 'like farming' on social media with their overly simplistic view of the world.

night before stay over at the Manor house Dronfield, shared rooms
pre game breakfast, Manor House, Dronfield, help yourself buffet
travel to BDTBL 6 to a car, write positive review about Manor House on Trip Advisor
Gagey manages from press box whilst commentating on RS, mention Villa, Manor House and Covid is a government ploy to control us
return to Manor House
evening meal, 10 to a table, no masks allowed (@Manor House)
Covid is a myth karaoke night

On a serious note, whilst the comments aren't totally incorrect, given the turmoil our club has been through over the last week, i think this type of comment from an ex-pro and someone with links to the club is badly timed
Last thing a fragile confidence needs is comments like this from a 'friend of the club'
Hi Steve,

Sorry if Kevin's post destroyed your fragile confidence, but the rest of us agree that he deserves a rocket up his arse for missing that opportunity and denying us the chance of getting to the semi finals.

Heading and kicking a ball is all he does most days and to miss a chance like that is ludicrous.

His opinion on other topics is his own opinion, yet you seek to shame a fellow Blade, just because he holds a different opinion to you.

May I suggest a period of self reflection and maybe do some yoga?

My comment you replied to is what most people would accept as a bit of tongue-in-cheek humour based on KG's constant promoting of the Manor House, his Villa connection, and ramblings on behalf of the anti Covid party!

However you seem to have been offended on someone elses behalf - suggesting I have 'shamed' him

Meet you in the calming zone at Snowflake High, think we both need a cuddle hun........ ;)

This is just bollocks. The header was from an angle and the keeper was blocking the centre of the goal. Safe players head it for the goal, hit the keeper, and everybody says hard luck.

Good players see the situation and go for the small open area with a high probability of missing.

Football is so fucking easy from the stand or in front of a TV. Anybody who criticises Didz after that game is not a Blade - however big they think they are.

It was Lunny’s best cross of the season mind you!

blocked me on FB after I pointed out to him that whatever he may think of Chris Whitty's appearance, whether he has kissed a girl or questioning his sexual orientation - the bloke is Oxford educated, is a Professor of diseases and has spent his whole career gearing up to help the nation through the pandemic
I would rather take his advice on whats safe or not over the inane ramblings of a bloke who kicked a football for a living and now runs a boozer in a village near Sheffield.

must admit not seeing his frankly bollox rantings has been a blessing in disguise, not sure he would be quite so vocal if he wasnt in the hospitality industry, which probably suggests he is putting profit over people.

Hope someone at BDTBL sees his comments, and realises that we dont need bile spouters like that when it comes to match day hospitality and guest speakers

Wanker indeed.
Wow the covid gone to your head? take off the mask!

Comedy award, for the most ridiculous post of the year, goes to this guy 😅

I think Kevin Gage must have posted that in some kind of post-match fug after drinking throughout the match. It was a terrible miss but if we start writing off players for that we won't have any players fror next year. Didzy will be another few months older but the tempo and intensity at Championship level is not as high so he will still be able to make a good contribution. I mean, who else in that team could have done that move down the byline past Azpilecueta.
Goalkeepers and goalscorers are either heroes or zeroes. The rest can get away with shocking mistakes but not for the strikers or goalies. Perhaps Didzy sometimes overthinks in those situations where someone like Sharp or Vardy just do things instinctively.
