I think he wont play much of a part next season. As for yesterday that piece of skill was superb but the rest of his game was poor for him especially in the first half.

I think for thee OP to say Gage is a 'tool' for his comments is a little harsh when he is giving an opinion and trying to say why

I suspect Gage has exhausted most of the goodwill amongst the vast majority of the fanbase, for reasons alluded to by some of the posters above.

Didzy is IMO our best player and one of a few that has the technical ability to compete in the prem. It was a shocking miss yesterday and Didzy knows he should score. Hes more of a 10 than an out and out striker so his general game play more than makes up for 1 shocking miss.

A blades team with didzy in is twice the team of one that doesn’t!

Slightly bizarre rant about Didzy aside, I stopped following him on Twitter just yesterday. It's just post after post/retweet of anti vax/covid denying frankly dangerous rubbish. Wouldn't be surprised to find the odd flat earth theory if I dug deep enough into his history.

I do think he has a valid point regarding age which is not on McGoldrick's side, I don't see us getting more than another season out of him.

I love Didzy and he is a pleasure to watch, but KG is right about that chance - he simply had to score. Goal scoring is his Achilles heel, but, I guess if he had this ability, alongside his vision and technical ability, he’d have played for Barcelona!

I'd find the post and give him some grief but he blocked me years ago.

I think “below average” is extremely generous. His finishing has been abysmal throughout his career. Clearly he brings other qualities to the team but his finishing does cost us big time. We were on top when he missed that absolute sitter yesterday and who knows, had he scored we may well have gone on to win.

Wilder out....

Gage has a point that it was a bad miss. That, in isolation, does not mean that McGoldrick isn't going to play a big part next season. Did I imagine him leaving Azpilicueta for dead with some sublime skill later in the game? The only pace in Didzy's game is in his head and there's no sign of that disappearing. He's rightly one of our most important players.

It was a bad miss but if he was a prolific goalscorer his whole career, he sure as hell wouldn't be playing for us.

As the stats already state, he's the best of a bad bunch.

night before stay over at the Manor house Dronfield, shared rooms
pre game breakfast, Manor House, Dronfield, help yourself buffet
travel to BDTBL 6 to a car, write positive review about Manor House on Trip Advisor
Gagey manages from press box whilst commentating on RS, mention Villa, Manor House and Covid is a government ploy to control us
return to Manor House
evening meal, 10 to a table, no masks allowed (@Manor House)
Covid is a myth karaoke night

On a serious note, whilst the comments aren't totally incorrect, given the turmoil our club has been through over the last week, i think this type of comment from an ex-pro and someone with links to the club is badly timed
Last thing a fragile confidence needs is comments like this from a 'friend of the club'
Bang on regarding Kev and his pub (sorry hotel).

Stopped following him a while ago due to the above and his rather, IMHO, unusual posts.

I thought there was a 10 minute spell in the Chelsea game that summed up McGoldrick as a player.

He misses a free header....an easy chance for any pro player....never mind someone who is supposed to be a forward.
We just need to accept that McGoldrick is terrible at finishing.

However 10 minutes later he perform a brilliant piece of skill to get past Azpilicueta on the bye line.

Strange game for McGoldrick this....thought he was outstanding....he‘s one of our few players with genuine PL quality.
However even though he was impressive he’ll be remembered for that shocking miss.
Really abject 1st half, tepid and hesitant.

Didzy isn’t in the medium term future of this football club but he’s an amazing player who if he could consistently finish and stay fit would have played much higher than United. However he’d be a long way down my list of players to actively move on this summer he certainly has a very high value to United for next season.

This is the wanker who said it is wrong to insult players while slagging Ramsdale off.
Utter utter wanker of the highest kind ,not just on social media.
blocked me on FB after I pointed out to him that whatever he may think of Chris Whitty's appearance, whether he has kissed a girl or questioning his sexual orientation - the bloke is Oxford educated, is a Professor of diseases and has spent his whole career gearing up to help the nation through the pandemic
I would rather take his advice on whats safe or not over the inane ramblings of a bloke who kicked a football for a living and now runs a boozer in a village near Sheffield.

must admit not seeing his frankly bollox rantings has been a blessing in disguise, not sure he would be quite so vocal if he wasnt in the hospitality industry, which probably suggests he is putting profit over people.

Hope someone at BDTBL sees his comments, and realises that we dont need bile spouters like that when it comes to match day hospitality and guest speakers

Wanker indeed.

Put Didsy in the Duffy role with two strikers infront of him and two workhorse midfielders behind him.

Anyone thinking he should be put on the football scrap heap needs to give their head a shake.
While mentoring his long term replacement, perhaps.

We produced exactly one great chance in that game. It should've been buried but the only other half decent chance I can think of was Brewster near the end. Now think of Chelsea, one of them slips in a one on one, one skies it after it bounces back off Ramsdale, the break for the second goal, they produce multiple good chances to get a goal.

It's not enough to come away from every game having had exactly one good chance and then saying "the strikers need to be more clinical". No one's that fucking clinical. And even if McGoldrick's finishing isn't good enough, he's the only player we have with any chance of producing something out of nothing. He's the only striker who actually joins the strikers and midfield together.

Kevin Gage has posted some decent takes in the past but this is beyond myopic. The defence is in tatters, we produce one good opportunity a game if we're lucky, and the only guy on the team who can actually consistently beat a man with some skill is to blame? Give over.

Gage is a moron. As many have already said. Slagging DidZ off publicly like that is outrageous. Anti-vax/Covid denying etc is also outrageous.

Also, I'm going to stick up for DidZy missing that header. I've not seen anyone mention the spin on the ball. So... The cross is deflected, putting a top spin/side spin on it. When deflected like that it's very common that the header bounces off at a slightly unexpected angle. DidZy didn't actually need to put that header in the corner admittedly, but he's only missed by an inch which quite probably was caused by the spin on the ball (near impossible to account for as an attacker).

P.S. He's not an elite or world class (or consistently Premier League) finisher. But he's not an "abysmal" or "terrible" finisher, as per some opinions. Also a wonderful player that will do very well for us again next season.
