Anyone know the biggest loss in an FA Cup Quarter final?

Probably so and why not? If players want to break into the 1st team, they need to know how to fit the system. By having the same style of play throughout the levels is a good thing, surely?

For the U23 team it certainly works. For the first team it doesnt work and its hardly been changed all season. Is this why Wilder was so reluctant to change the formation ? Which other club rigidly sticks to the same formation in the PL ? If you keep playing 3-5-2 and then start to get found out and it fails why keep using it ? It limits your options and doesnt it show this season.

Everton 9-1 Southport in 1931

We’re holders of the third biggest defeat in FA cup history (13-0), if we’re gonna swing we might as well swing big.

(i know emotions are running high on here, to clarify I absolutely don’t want is to lose, and certainly not 13-0!)

I read yesterday the Govt may allow crowds in for the semi as a test event.
 
Chelsea have a game on Wednesday night in the European Championship thingy, so their best players could be tired on Sunday.
Maybe our 5 nil defeat was a cunning plan to lull them into thinking the FA Cup game will be a doddle, so that Chelsea will play a weakened side.
... or am I clutching at straws?
 
Now that there is a prospect of fans being allowed in to the final, I'm back to being proper interested in this. Where else will we get to wave a shoe this season

Yeah but this time round its more like a short sharp shock which has happened in less than a year. Its like going from PL to Division 3 in 12 months.

Going to Div 4 took time it was a slow decline this is more like lemmings off a cliff. I can understand the devastation I`m more annoyed than anything else and I`m an optimist.

To say only Chelsea left in the cup this is quite an achievement although Man U and City fans might get chance to watch their team for the first time ever

May be better to wait until after the international break, to give more time to bed in either a new system or some youngsters or both.
 



We don't have the personnel to change system so it will be the same midfield, the same defence with the exception of Jags playing instead of the ineligible Ampadu and they'll flip a coin to decide which of our strikers play upfront together.

Then we'll lose 5-0 again.
 
We could play 4-4-2 with Fleck and Norwood in the middle and Bogle right and Osborn left in the hope we get some creativity and stop them walking through the middle it could not be worse.

I love cup games the f a cup final still best day in the season if your involved. so these wankers better be ready, on our day we can score the odd goal so its just a matter of keeping it tight at the other end. If this ends in a heavy defeat then the rest of the season is going to be very very embarrassing.

Tbf, a lot weren’t born when we got relegated to div 4, or were very young. This generation has just suffered what the late 60s/early 70s generation went through. We had a fantastic team that looked like it was on the way up. A great first season under Furphy, huge optimism, only to get kicked in the bollocks. I guess 94 was similar, decent finish in 93 and a cup semi final, we were starting to look like a proper top division club. It’s something you have to get used to being a Blade.

I can’t watch any more games this season. We are just going to be hammered. Now we see that Wilder was keeping the lads playing and together, despite their limitations.
 



An FA Quarter final and I don’t think I can bear to watch it,,. Football is dead.
