It's going to be interesting to see who makes the final squad of 25 come Palace and get a shirt number.

What's everyone's thoughts? Are we over stocked in some areas? Was giving Fleck a new contract now looking a mistake as there aren't many places up for grabs? If RND comes back will that spell the end for Lowe?
 

Half thinking we might look at loaning Fleck out to scotland if we get another 3/4 as expected, theres no justification for leaving out Jebbo and it’d signal the end for him here if so

Hoping Coulibaly and Osula get decent loans out too
 
3-4 more signings make sense. Coulibaly would need a number to play.

We can add a new LCB, maybe Ndiaye and also Doyle or O'Brien, which leaves 2 shirts available, I'd go for Osula or Jebbison, with one going out on loan, and then maybe Freckleton.
 
I'd anticipate:

Coulibaly, Osula, Freckleton, Siriki, Sachdev, Brooks, Marsh, Neal, Buyabu all out on loan. Jebbo in the 25, unless we can get another forward in and find Jebbo a cracking Championship loan with regular football in a side that has a decent amount of possession. Sunderland?

Can't you revisit and re-register players in January? If so, I'd expect RND to be left out for now, especially if another LCB is coming in.

All those in bold won't be counted towards the 25-man squad due to age. So Coulibaly will be included. Amissah and Traore removed which leaves 5 places

There is no way that Neal will make the 25....so that leaves places for 4 potential new signings.
 
Making the 25 man squad and having a shirt number are entirely unrelated, O'Connell was still 5 for the last two seasons without being in the 25 man squad.

The 25-man squad isn't frozen until the end of the transfer window so who plays against Palace doesn't really matter anyway, we could play Ndiaye, Berge, Anel and Baldock in that game then sell the lot before the end of August and they wouldn't count towards the 25 when it's locked in. We can leave gaps and fill them with free agents or our own overage "young" players after the window is closed. Obviously you can make changes in the January window with new signings or adding or removing injured players.

If we do sign Ndiaye, he would count as a U21 player.

Rules on U21 players​

Under-21 players are eligible over and above the limit of 25 players per squad.

Each player is assigned a squad number, which they wear during Premier League matches.

For the 2023/24 campaign Under-21 players will have been born on or after 1 January 2002.

While it provides us with endless entertainment on the Red half of Sheffield, I'm actually feeling sorry for Wednesday fans. They have suffered a lot from their owner, imagine how awful it must be to have such a clown running your club.
