both hes not a premier league player for a start and despise his attitude towards the club and a manager that gave him his break playing at a higher level showed no class at all and if we had recruited better before this season started in the midfield area i doubt he would have played a game the sooner hes out of our club the better imo
I don’t know what his attitude towards the club is. It’s easy to say it’s poor but we don’t know what he was offered or what he’s been promised from elsewhere via his agent.

Our fans have hardly been loyal to him, a lot were saying he wasn’t good enough at the start of last season and loyalty works both ways.

There’s a lot of supposition against someone who generally gives 100% when he’s on the pitch, he does occasionally look like a miserable bastard but I think that’s just him.

I love the fella up to 24th May. Love the guy and wish him all the best.

After that he can go fuck himself and I couldn't give a shiny shit what the lad does or goes.

He's well within his rights to find a better financial deal at the end of the season, and as a fan of SUFC I'm well within my rights to hope thd scouse twat fucks off pronto thereafter.

On his day a decent enough player but for me he's not really looked interested this season. Wilders mistake was not replacing him last pre season. Still, he won't be our problem in 3 months time and I for one won't shed any tears at his departure. Toodle-loo and mind the door as it hits you on the arse on your way out.

disagree hes only given 100% on the pitch in the last few games when he was after another club coming in for him from september to december hes given us nothing good riddance

There’s a difference between not trying and just being shit. The whole team were shit for 20 odd games. He was just shit with them.

sorry just cant understand anybody siding with lundstrum if he was a game changer i could maybe understand his refusal of a new contract but hes not this club made him and this is how he repays a great club and great manager just f***k off out of our club

I’m not siding with him, just don’t see the point in slagging him off without knowing the ins and outs.

A lot of our fans moan that we don’t pay the wages but then moan when players want to leave due to the fact that we don’t pay the wages. Remember, he’s a professional footballer and not a Blades fan. Some of them tend to be mercenary in their approach.

Also, it’s Lundstram with an ‘a’.

I thought he was going to burst into tears when asked the question. Certainly went quieter.

Looking like nobody else thinks he's worth more money either....

To days Robert Peels birthday 1788,
He formed the conservative party as well as reintroducing income tax,
And created the London metropolitan police force in1829.

ooh sorry for the bad grammar and the ins and outs that you refer to are that he thinks he should earn more than other players when he certainly hasnt warranted it and if he was that good another club would have been in for him and lets see no other club has

I’m sure the facts will come out one day and you may be right. For the time being I’m glad we kept hold because we have no one better for that position. I’m sure that the other clubs are waiting for the summer when they can have him for £0, with the lack of transfer activity this year it’s not a surprise he hasn’t gone for a fee.

He's got an engine on him, reasonable defensively and has a knack at getting into scoring positions. This suited us last year and probably in a team at the lower end of the table.

He isn't however a great footballer with the ball at his feet. Doesn't really take on a man, doesn't really play defense splitting passes, doesn't look like he has time on the ball and isnt a game changer.

Either he doesn't want to be here, or wants more than we think he's worth. Whichever is true, he's easily replaceable.

Particularly if/when we go down, he's just not the sort of player we need in the team either - we need the sort of player who can unlock a defense

midfield is one area that chris failed to strengthen before the season began and weve paid the price for it im sure if we had managed to sign jon swift lundstrum wouldnt have got a look in hes had to play him because after sanders injury we had nobody else for the rcm role but we wont miss him thats for sure

How do you know that?

I thought we would move him.on when we got promoted as he didn't look good enough then. CW believed in him, and he had a purple patch for part of last season.

He's been good in some games, average in lots of them, poor in a few.

He cost us £700,000 and we have had 100+ appearances out of him, on a league one wage. I'd say we have had our money's worth.

He'll leave for free at the end of the season. Remember we picked McGoldrick up for free ourselves, so what comes around, goes around.

I bear him no ill will.

Talk about a player putting himself first, being greedy and spitting the dummy out.

He can leave like Dean Hammond did and vanish into nothingness all the same.. I'll have an extra beer when he finally fucks off.. Good riddance...

A chance of glory, and to be thought of and loved forever, exchanged for a few pieces of silver.. Which he still hasn't got. Lol.

In the way that Chris Basham will be loved, and remembered just like Bob Booker, lundstram will be forgotten like Dean Hammond.

Don't let the door hit your useless arse on the way out mate.

He's a strange one to read, is Lunny. In general, his demeanour on the pitch, and I don't think his facial expressions necessarily always give the best impression.

I would expect that he'll be off, though.

The frustration with the fanbase with Lunny, I think, is that for most of his spell here he hasn't been good enough. And now, our contract offer isn't good enough for him.

Fuck me. Some of you really do live in a championship manager/FIFA fantasy world... This is the real world, with real people not a Bladey McBladey dream world.

It's not his fault we decided to spunk money on a 5th choice striker with 17 championship games under his belt and not use the money to reinforce midfield so we've had to play him.

It's not his fault we offered him an amount he felt wasn't equitable to his market worth. Price elasticity of demand sets his market worth not him/his agent. Would you stay in your job if you knew you could earn double at the same place down the road?

It's not his fault we've been so fooking bad he's become a vital part of our team.

It's not his fault Norwood has fallen off a cliff and is as close to unplayable as we can get.

It's not his fault Berge has majorly flattered to deceive, isn't a discernable upgrade and to cap it all then got himself injured.

It's not his fault the other signings have been so shite the club aren't allowing Wilder any more signings.

But hey, let's slate the guy who's been instrumental in our upturn in the past month because he doesn't want to get a Blades Tattoo and take a big pay cut to stay.

As others have said - once he's gone, I'll instantly forget him in the same way Ryan Leonard and Lee Evans have slipped from my memory. Seems those wanting to hate on him really have wider psychological issues that probably could do with addressing...

I'll amuse you as it's raining and I'm bored...

When/where has he spat his dummy out? I've not seen it. He's put in bad performances but that's more down to him being inconsistent and being in a bad team rather than anything untoward from him.

And if you think Basham wouldn't do exactly the same if he was 5 years younger and got the same offers coming to him, then you really are naive...

Useless? Really?

For some strange reason he's had the haters from day one and I never understood that. He reminded me of Basham when he first joined.
However he decided to stay with his championship contract and to miss out on a pay rise for the past two years.
If he had done so he would now be coming to the time to renegotiate his contract again and would be looking at a big increase as a pivotal role within the team or a big transfer to another club after putting his all into his job.
In this respect he is nothing like Basham and deserves none of the respect that Basham gets from the fan's.
I don't hate the guy and wish him well and it's not for me to judge what someone has or doesn't have between their ears. It might say more about his upbringing and those he has around him that he listen's to.
In the current climate I think he's badly advised as anything could happen to the end of the season and picking up an injury, see O'Connell & Berge which would leave him in the sh1t, especially if he hasn't signed a pre contract with someone else.
In that situation I hope UTD do the right thing and tell him that he's no longer employed by the club and not our problem

Our players are earning about 1/10 of players on other premier league teams. If wages reflect quality, then either
1) our players are shit and we shouldn't expect them to win a single game
Or
2) our players are paid less than their true value

Truth is Sheffield United are under-paying players and that is because our owner has no money.
They got away with it last season because the players got promoted quickly/came from lower leagues so no-one rated them. Even when they were winning big matches, pundits all saying it was just intensity, rather than giving them credit for actually being good players. Even a lot of our fans saying this.

But no decent player was stupid enough to come sign for us on that money - if they are good enough for premier league they will go to a club that pays premier league wages.

I don't blame Lunny for saying "we are premier league players, we are matching other players with our performance, we are entitled to a similar reward" (Maybe less true so far this season but it was true last summer)

Here's a hypothetical question to ponder...

If your son was playing for Sheff Utd on £20k a week and Sheff Wed / Leeds came in and offered him £40k a week - what you advise him to do?

Your answer to this will tell you all you need to know...
Someone said in a earlier post 'he's not a game changer'. Some on his goals and performances certainly did change games last season. And your right, anybody sane would go for the better money.

I’d discount the pigs straight away. Whatever your contract says you’ll never earn more than £7k a month anyway 😂

In my humble opinion, I know your being hypothetical. However we shouldn't cast aspersions on Basham like that ...total guess work
