Baldock & Norwood are finished

Disagree on Baldock, however he’s terrible at crossing and shooting. Norwood's not good enough for this division

I still hope Ampadu will make the defensive midfield role his own. Norwood looks finished. He wins and stops very little and it makes things difficult for the rest of the team. WBA were determined not to let him have time on the ball as well, which made him ineffective in spite of his technical ability.

It feels like we need an enforcer in midfield, a winner to add some guts and determination.

I've been thinking the same myself. Need a Roy Keane type character, someone who would make the others too scared to miss chances.

Baldock was quality best player on that pitch by a long way I really don’t understand what people are watching

He’s been our best player by a country mile this season

Future captain if Egan ever goes

Baldock was our best outfield player. This is madness.
Best outfield player "by a long way"? Not a chance. Baldock was decent but no more. His crossing was pitiful and while it was great that he got on the end of that chance his finish was pathetic, almost to the point of being unacceptable.

Personally, I'd bring Bogle in for Leicester.

Baldock was shit tonight. I say that as one of his greatest fans.

McBurnie’s not good enough to play as our mainstay striker. So many of the opportunities he gets I genuinely think I would put in.

I’m nearly 59.
My mate has always slagged off McBurnie ever since he pulled on the famous red and white stripes. I on the other hand have defended him and his roll in the team to the hilt. But unfortunately now I’m of the opinion that our “number 9” does not have the necessary composure, technique or positional awareness to be a top (or average) striker in the English Premier League.

yes but where is bogle ? still think baldock is good enough but have to agree on norwood think he will be moved on in january or next summer also agree on ampadu go to a back 4 and have ampadu as the defensive midfielder and if we go down get mo besic in for that position next season

never rated mcburnie as a premier league striker but he might come in to his own if were back in the championship next season why chris keeps picking him baffles me he should have been pulled yesterday instead of burke

Norwood looks out of his depth Baldock is good just his final ball he either hangs on to it too long passes back or does a crap cross if he worked on his crossing he’d be PL quality

Bogle doesn't make the bench as he can only cover one position (RWB) and as Wilder likes to have three centre forwards on the bench the other three outfield players need to be able to cover all 8 other positions. Take our bench on Saturday: Verrips (GK), Jagielka (DC, DCR), Osborn (WBL, MC, MCL), Lundstram (MC, MCR) plus the three forwards (Mousset, Brewster, McGoldrick). The only positions not covered were DCL (Bogle wouldn't have helped there) and WBR which Bogle would have covered but at the expense of covering more important positions as Basham can play RWB at a push.

The problem with a back four is we don't have two centre halves capable of playing in that set up. Egan would have to play on the left and he'd get done for pace repeatedly.

Norwood has definitely been off it but that's to be expected when he's no longer the man who dictates play. When McBurnie is up top we all know where the ball is going, and that's to Norwood's detriment. The wingbacks also get nowhere near as far forward, so his switch of play can't happen even when he does get the ball. For me, Norwood has been a casualty of the new style of of play.

How Baldock has become a target is beyond me. There's so many worse performers in our team this season.
It's because he was visible and fair play to him, he kept on plugging away. That spooned, lofted pass into Johnstone's hands at the end though....what was he trying to do?

He needs to have a word with Lundstram by the way as the ball from Lundstram which just evaded Burke's dive was sublime. Baldock's in a similar position just outside the corner of the penalty area in space 3-5 times per game but he generally checks back when there's a chance to put a cross around the six yard line, behind the defence but too far out for the keeper to risk coming for it. Unless it's Ramsdale in goal, in which case he'll probably fly out for it and miss it.

I agree - he’s probably been one of our best players.

but it’s a case of what else can we change? We’ve got supposedly one of the top attacking right backs from the championship on the books. One we spend a substantial chunk of our budget on - while leaving gaping holes elsewhere. We may as well have not bother buying him for all the benefit we have had from it.

we simply can’t score and baldock is great up to the final third. It’s just looking for possible solutions to find an end product - bogle is an option there and one that it couldn’t hurt to try given the results so far.

Unless he’s been filth in training. We may as well see what we have in him. even if bogle is crap we’d only get beat 2-0 instead of 1-0.
